Lough Rynn Castle what can I say about this amazing gem hidden in Ireland's heartlands.

As a location it's ideally situated not far off the main Dublin/Sligo road. 20 minutes drive North East of the thriving town of Carrick on Shannon.

The Castle itself is spectacular. An ideal retreat for a relaxing weekend away. Beautiful walled gardens which are well maintained. A breathtakingly trail which leads its way around the outer edge of the estate. Which offers amazing views the house and lake. The interior is well maintained clean old worldly and very elegant.
The vibe is quiet peaceful and tranquil. The staff are wonderful really well trained and are focused on offering the visitor the best opportunity for a wonderful stay.

The food is outstanding perfectly prepared and presented as you expect from an award winning kitchen. Trust me I would know I'm a classically trained chef with over 10 years experience in the industry. You would not be disappointed by this food. Its an experience to savior.

The room's are exquisite. Comfortable warm and gives you the experience of how the other half live. Very clean and leaves nothing undone. You will have a wonderful reinvigorating sleep here. Be prepared for the morning chorus of birds at dawn personally speaking I loved it.

Also on offer are a large selection of teas wines beers in the bar.

What an amazing visit we had at Lough Rynn Castle. We stayed for 4 days. Stunning location with over 300 acres of land and gardens to go for a nice leisurely walk. We had a picnic down by the lake one of the afternoons. The staff even organised a picnic blanket for us. You could also have Afternoon Tea packed to take on your picnic with you. This was such a lovely touch. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble for them, especially Krishna The Duty Manager and Catherine on Reception. We got upgraded to a deluxe Bedroom with stunning views over the Lake. We felt very safe the whole duration of our visit. Everything was spotless. There was clear markings for a one way system so you didn't bump into other guests in the drawing rooms, reception or the hall ways. They had plenty of sanitising stations and plenty of room for the two metre social distancing required to keep everyone safe. We will definitely return to Lough Rynn Castle

We spent 2 nights here and requested a room with a bath in advance. This meant we were given a room in the courtyard about 3 minutes from the main building. We booked a meal in the Sandstone restaurant, but cancelled it after viewing the limited menu. The menu was just a repeat of many of the items we had eaten elsewhere over the past few days travelling. We ate from the bar menu instead whose choice suited us better. The hotel is quite isolated with most towns being 15-20 drive away apart from Mohill. I did also notice a water adventure centre on Lough Rynn about 5 minutes drive away, if you had children with you. On our 2nd night we chose to drive to Dromad to eat in the Brandywell pub which has a large menu and good value portions.
We were very impressed with the gardens in Lough Rynn and noticed quite a few people getting take out picnics from the hotel to eat in the grounds in the lovely weather, which was a great idea. The walled garden is a must do for a leisurely stroll. We also enjoyed our breakfasts in the Sandstone restaurant.

Having previously stayed in the sister hotel of Lough Rynn Castle (i.e. Kilronan Castle), our expectations were high, we were however very disappointed with our stay in Lough Rynn. We were a party of three staying for two nights spending over €800 for two rooms. In my view this is a considerable amount of money to spend for two nights B&B. We didn't expect a lake view for this price but did expect a window at least. The rooms we were given were in the courtyard and must be the two worst rooms in the entire hotel. There were no windows in either of the rooms we were assigned, just a Velux window on the ceiling which made the rooms dark and claustrophobic. Attached to our booking confirmation from the hotel were pictures of two rooms with windows. We were with an elderly relative celebrating a big birthday and we didn't want to ruin her stay by creating a fuss otherwise we would have sought different rooms. Some points to note about room 215 (the shower tray looks like someone tried to smash it with a hammer, there are so many lumps taken out of it and a lamp shade with a big hole in it not to mention the out of date mis-matched furniture. (no comfortable armchair for example) No. 209 was very dusty and once you open the door which has a big gap on the top you are immediately met by the wardrobe which you almost bash into. The Covid guest information sheet states that all areas of accommodation have been deep cleaned and sanitised. The amount of dust in room 209 would suggest this room had not been deep cleaned or sanitised very well. If you are handed the keys to 209 or 215 hand them back immediately and ask for another room. The photos on the website are very misleading, so you expect a lovely room but what we got were two very basic rooms minus the promised luxury.
On a positive note, the food was extremely good, we ate twice in the bar, served by very nice young staff who couldn't do enough for you. The breakfast also was excellent. The casual dining area is fine for afternoon tea but uncomfortable for dinner as you are essentially eating dinner off a coffee table. Perhaps the management could put some larger tables in the dining area as guests don’t always travel in pairs, sometimes inconveniently, people travel in threes. The grounds are lovely but not very large certainly not 300 acres (as per the website) but maybe they are including the lake in this calculation. If guests are expecting to walk around 300 acres this is not the case. The walled garden is very well maintained and a lovely spot to spend some time.

After my husband paid the bill he gave our observations which were noted by the receptionist. There was no attempt however to empathise with our experience, just indifference which either means they get complaints a lot and it’s water off a duck’s back or they simply don’t care. Very disappointing a manager didn’t follow up on our feedback.

Booked 2 rooms for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Hotel were so accommodating when we couldn't make the evening meal, they prepared sandwiches for us on arrival. Our accommodation was 1 min walk from the hotel, and it was spacious, warm, clean and very inviting. Breakfast was delicious and the surroundings and ambiance provided us with a very relaxed yet luxurious feeling during our stay which was great value too. Highly recommend staying here. The service was second to none, so much so that when my daughter left something behind they promptly posted it to us the next day. Nothing was too much. Well done, will definitely be back.

Attended a wedding at the hotel and had a 2 night stay booked. Ended up enjoying the hotel so much, I booked a 3rd night.
As part of the bridal party, we were welcomed on arrival by Johnny and Lynette, who I must say, are both extremely good at their job-nothing is too much trouble.
Wedding food was amazing and to a very high standard.
The service provided was quite good, one of the waitresses knocked a bouquet of flowers off a stand and just ignored this and went on serving guests.
The floor of the room we stayed on had a terrible odour. The manager of hotel did offer to move us rooms the next morning but as no smell in the room itself we declined. (in hindsight should have moved as bloody tissue and empty bottle of water found in room later during stay).
Breakfast service the following morning was quite slow but the food itself very enjoyable.
A few of us (bride and groom included) had food and drinks in the bar in the afternoon. Again, service was incredibly slow.
When we arrived to the bar, the waitress informed us no tables were available so we were to stand at the bar and wait.
30mins later, the manager (restaurant or hotel GM, not sure) scolded us for standing at the bar and putting his staff at risk. I explained we had been asked to wait here until a table became available but he was quite rude and unwilling to listen.
Once seated, we decided to order sandwiches and asked for menus. 45mins later, we had to ask for menus again. Once food was ordered it took almost an hour to arrive (this is yesterday's bride and groom receiving this level of service).
A group of 12 of us had dinner in the library that evening. Food and service exceptional.
The following morning, a few of us decided to stay an extra night and asked at reception if rooms were available. We were told they were but then when we went to book, the deputy GM said this had been an overlook but needed to double check with the lady who had originally told us rooms were free. This staff member was in a meeting......fast forward an hour and half later and speaking with 2 other staff, I was still none the wiser as to whether I had a room for the night.
I was eventually told, the room I had originally queried wasn't available but the hotel would do 2 rooms for the same price due to their error.
The rest of the stay was lovely and extremely relaxing.
The walled garden walk is a must, especially with children.
Even though the service was hit and miss within the hotel, the standard of customer care that certain staff members, Aoife, Ciara and Chloe provided was exceptional.
Will definitely return in the future as the pros outweighed the cons for us on this occasion.

We were travelling in Ireland with our son and had booked Lough Rynn for the last night of our holiday. At the time of booking we were only able to avail of a room in another converted building and not in the main castle as we needed a room that could facilitate a family but I felt assured that at a property that markets itself as luxury accommodation this would be of the same standard...sadly not! Upon arrival we were shown to our room and upon entering it was extremely hot but we assumed that this was due to the "air con" not being activated without a room key so we turned the control down as low as it went and went for a walk around the grounds to give the room a chance to cool down.We walked the grounds which are beautiful and then went to the bar for a couple of drinks before returning to our room.Upon entering it was obvious that the air con was still not working so we called reception and a gentleman came over with a fan,at that stage we were informed that the rooms do not actually have air conditioning and it is simply an air circulation panel.I asked if we could move room and he said he would ask as the heat was unbearable.A short while later a manager came to our room and said that we could not move room as we had a child and that the people in the main castle rooms which only sleep 2 had air con as they had paid to stay in the hotels "luxury rooms"Quite frankly I found this extremely insulting as we had chosen our room because we had a child and main castle rooms only sleep 2 people so were not available to us.We were then reassured that another fan would be brought to our room while we were at dinner and that the manager would check that this was done.....did not happen. At no time in the booking process or indeed in the hotels marketing literature does it state that you are only getting the advertised luxury if you stay in the main castle bedrooms!! all websites including the castles own advertise bedrooms with air con.At this stage we were stuck as we had gone to the bar to let our room cool down so could now not make the long drive home.I realise that it is very hot at the moment but I have stayed in many castles and manor house hotels in Ireland during hot weather, indeed early that week and have never been fobbed off with "these old buildings,Ireland is not designed for this weather etc " excuses. You should not advertise having luxury air conditioned rooms if you clearly do not! We ended up having dinner in the restaurant as it does have air conditioning and sat outside until we had to return to our room to put our son to bed, then spent a sleepless night in a disgusting hot and stuffy environment.I am only giving this review 2 stars as most of the staff were lovely especially in the dining room staff as was our dinner but I will never return to Lough Rynn again.

I visited this hotel with my wife in January 2020 to celebrate our wedding anniversary.

It wasn't our first visit to the hotel and we certainly were not disappointed on our return.

You get a courteous and friendly welcome at reception and we did not experience any delay in getting our key and being shown to our room.

The room was spacious and well decorated. The bed was very comfortable and the room had all the amenities that you would expect in a hotel of this standard.

We had our evening meals in the drawing room which provides an excellent menu in a more informal setting than the dining room. The food was excellent and we could not fault it in any way.

Breakfast was served in the dining room. There was a good selection of cereals, juices, breads etc. on offer and the staff took our hot food order at the table. As with the evening meal you could not fault the quality of the food or the service.

The grounds of the hotel are definitely worth a walk around with the walled garden being the centerpiece.

This was an experience that has given nothing only fond memories and we will definitely be going back in the near future.

We stayed here early in March for our anniversary. Could not say enough good things about Lough Rynn! We stayed in a castle room and it was very comfortable and beautiful. Service was friendly and professional throughout the hotel. You feel so welcomed as soon as you come in. Anissa at reception checked us in. She was so lovely and informative, and made friendly conversation with us. She was there the next morning when we checked out also, again very chatty and cheery. I think a gentleman named Colin showed us to our room, he was friendly and chatted with us the whole way to our room and orientated us once we arrived. Krishna in the bar was amazing!! Very kind and seems obviously popular with guests and locals. Viorel looked after us in the restaurant in the evening, the food was superb and everything presented beautifully. Viorel was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. Overall could not fault this place. Make sure you get out and explore the grounds while you're there, it rained while we were there but the walk in their stunning landscape was still worth it!! I am already looking forward to my next stay in Lough Rynn Castle!!

My partner and decided to stay for a third time over the last few years and booked a overnight stay two weeks ago (3/09/20). We arrived early and decided to go for a walk in the grounds and some afternoon tea while we waited for the room to be prepared, to my disappointment there was a wedding party on site , and from past experience in Hotels they usually end up in a sleepless night due to high jinks by some of the muppets that you get at these events.

The room was ready for checking in around 3pm as expected, and to my disappointment we were given a room away from the castle, which is a bit of a walk with bags to carry, and no offers by staff to arrange same. My first in impression was a old carpet very close to the entrance with nothing to wipe your feet before hand, so everything comes in with you from outside!

We arranged dinner for 8pm in the bar area, and in the mean time my partner was looking forward to a nice hot bath before dinner, so after sorting out the bags and settling in for the evening, she decided have a bath and relax, we’ll that all changed very quickly with the discovery of body hair in the bath ( pubic hair), so with closer examination of the room , the bed cloths looked as if they had not been changed, dust everywhere, broken TV remote, mirror was grubby and the carpet was not cleaned.
My partner made a b line down to management and asked to speak with the manger, she explained the situation, he offered to have the cleaning staff clean the room with us their, we declined and decided to leave straight away, no offer of another room, I suspect the webbing party were the priority, going by other reviews , the cleaning of rooms is poor, and a well rehearsed answer by management.
We ended up leaving for a two hour drive home and no dinner!

Two weeks later writing this review we only now got a refund after chasing management for the refund, and a management team not to interested resolving issues or returning calls to customers.

In summary this Hotel is not deep cleaning rooms! Make sure you check the room they give You is clean before accepting it.

I'm not a vegetarian but the menus definitely had one or two lovely vegetarian options in bar and restaurant menu (food v good) and they also do a vegetarian cooked breakfast (at least 2 or 3 options), such as eggs and avocado / benedict and also they'll do up veggie sausages etc if that's wanted for breakfast.
