Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa is often celebrated for its stunning gardens, multiple pools, and entertaining ambiance, all set in a prime location near the harbor and beach. Guests consistently commend the hotel's cleanliness, from the well-kept rooms to the pristine pools. While the service is generally noted for being attentive and professional, some visitors have experienced occasional lapses. Despite the praise for the hotel's maintenance, the room decor is perceived as dated by numerous guests. Opinions on value are mixed, with some guests questioning meal quality and additional charges.

What a wonderful week at this fabulous hotel. Located just a short, gentle stroll away from Puerto Mogan's pretty marina, our sole occupancy rooms overlooking one of the pools were very spacious and immaculately clean with very comfortable beds. The rooms are well equipped including a fridge, kettle, tea & coffee (replenished daily), plenty of storage space and a large bathroom with hairdryer and shower gel etc. We stayed on a half board plus basis which included house wine, soft drinks and beer with dinner, and also gave us the flexibility to switch dinner for lunch (24 hours notice required). The food at breakfast, lunch and dinner was absolutely outstanding - such a great choice with something to suit every taste and all freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Dinner in the buffet restaurant each evening operates on two pre-booked time slots starting at 6.15pm and 8.15pm which means no overcrowding or queuing at each food station. All the staff at this hotel are very efficient and friendly and work hard to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. The gardens are extremely well kept and all the communal areas, including the two heated pools are clean and well maintained with plenty of sunbeds. The hotel politely requests that guests do not reserve sunbeds, but inevitably towels were still being placed on sunbeds very early each morning in the best and sunniest spots! We absolutely loved the Hotel Cordial Mogan Playa and will definitely be returning.

We have just returned from a lovely week on half board plus at this hotel. It surpassed our expectations in every respect. The location is great as it’s a few minutes walk to the beautiful harbour of Porto Mogán; the staff at the hotel are all welcoming, friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble; the rooms are spacious and spotless with all the usual amenities; two very large pools that are heated and have plenty of sun beds. There is a very nice spa which have treatments at fairly reasonable prices. I’ve saved the best til last ...the food is superb! Such a variety and all top quality. There is a really sensible system in place so that on the first night you wait to be seated, and then the second night you choose your table which is then yours for the rest of your stay. We chose half board plus which meant house wines, water, beer etc were included with the meal, and really pleased to have the option to change from evening meal to lunch which made the whole thing more flexible.
We loved this hotel and plan to return!

We stayed for 2 weeks from the 16th Sept in a junior suite ,right at the very bottom of the garden ( 9017), the location was perfect for us, very close to a small gate which allowed access to the town without having to go through the main part of the hotel.
The room was very close to a small "cafe/snack bar" which was a part of the adjacent children's play park which was fortunately closed during our stay.
The room had quite obviously only just been opened up following covid and we did have several things which were not as they should have been, however a quick walk to reception to report same soon had them rectified. The room was well laid out with a separate lounge but suffered from a severe shortage of hanging space in the wardrobe, ( 1/2 of one side taken up with the safe), and a lack of shelves to store clothes. The room was quiet with an excellent sitting out area with both shade and sun in the afternoon. Maid service was quite excellent and everything was extremely clean
We started to take breakfast in the main dining room as we hadn't been told about the smaller breakfast area in the "blue house "close to the lower spool
The main dining room had a greater choice but was crowded and very noisy , whereas the smaller "blue room" was much more placid with a nice ambiance.
Food was i thought generally very good with a wide array of roasted joints and steak freshly cooked, plenty of fish and shellfish and a superb salad selection.
Sweets generally good with a large selection of cheeses and fresh fruit.
Wine was OK once you could manage to attract a waiter with a good quality wine or cava for about 25 euros.
The only thing the let down the dining experience was the lack of sufficient waiting staff, those that were there were rushing about like demented persons trying to deal with everybody.
We sometimes had a drink in the main bar before dinner and the service was excellent and this carried on following dinner. The entertainment was very low key with individual artists performing most of which were very good indeed,
but we usually went for a walk following dinner down to the town for a drink and a coffee.
The town was very quiet with large no's of shops and bars closed . Had several enjoyable meals out of the hotel.
We were planning on going to the beach but on inspection it was very cramped so decided to go to Amadores, ( a place we know well), on two occasions and had really excellent days there.
All in all a very good holiday superb food and very good service in the hotel somewhat tempered by the size of our bar bill
Hat's off to the gardening staff who must have worked extremely hard to produce such an attractive and varied display of exotic plants and flowers
Would probably return as it was so good but i would suggest that the hotel adds an AI package to ites rates as drinks around the pool mount up alarmingly.
Only negative point was a complete lack of instructions as to how everything in the room worked

A beautiful clean hotel with friendly staff and plenty of sun beds at this time of year. Two pools, child friendly, the only negative is the food. Breakfast is never hot, however there is a microwave for your use. The tea and coffee provided by the waitress is also lukewarm. Get your coffee from the machine by the conservatory, tea bag and hot water ditto. This lets the hotel down. I would say book bed and breakfast only and eat in the marina at night. However lunch in the pool bar is very good. Take your own shampoo and conditioner as well as body lotion, there is bath gel in the bathroom. Friday market is literally on your doorstep, coffee shop and supermarket across the road if you need it. Service can be slow in the bar, there is entertainment every night. Apart from food and drink, I would definitely recommend this hotel for a quiet peaceful clean room and lovely resort. Some rooms are on a low level and palm trees obstruct the view so request top floor with pool view.

The last couple of days of our stay in this hotel coincided with the first two days of the Spanish coronavirus lockdown. As incoming flights were cancelled, the number of guests dwindled over the week until very few were left by the time we flew home (as scheduled, thanks to Jet2).
The hotel is enormous and, I would say, far too large at busy times. The rooms are a good size and the hotel grounds are extensive and beautifully landscaped with an interesting archeological site. Everything was very clean and there were 2 large hand sanitisers at the entrance to the restaurant and at various other points (all of which were well-used) even before the lockdown.

Service in the main restaurant, the poolside cafe and the bar was very good. The buffet breakfast offered an array of international choices and was very good. We found the evening buffet less good but were very grateful that it was available at the end of the holiday when we were not allowed out due to the lockdown (and no other restaurants were open anyway).

I can't comment on the pool as we never used it but it fitted in well with the other landscaping and seemed to be very clean and popular with other guests who were looking for a poolside holiday.

I would like to praise all of the staff for the way that they kept working and providing a good service at a difficult and worrying time for them. We appreciated their hard work and their friendliness and hope to be able to return one day.

This was our fifth visit and the best yet. We were in a Junior Suite, which was kept very clean and had a balcony facing the side of the chapel so was quite private and on Sunday we could hear the beautiful singing from within. Last time Claudia at Reception had taken note of our favourite rooms, and we were given one of those.
All staff were excellent but the person who made my holiday the best yet was Calmero, the restaurant manager. I am lactose and gluten intolerant and the labels over the food put gluten on lots of dishes that don't contain it due to the risk of cross contamination from guests using the wrong spoons, so that left me with eggs and salad then fruit and jelly as every other time we've visited (obviously this isn't just a problem of this hotel but everywhere I visit) and I just couldn't face a week of it. We spoke to Calmero who immediately took me round the food dishes to show me which were suitable then arranged for a dessert to be made for me! Every day I had delicious food, mainly brought by the charming Alejandro but also by other lovely waiters, and I am so grateful to them all and, of course, the chefs who cooked for me. The renovated restaurant is lovely, light and airy.
Mogan itself is very beautiful and we walked along the beach and round the harbour (not to mention the shops) three times a day. Friday and Monday markets were fun too.
We're booked to go back in May, coronavirus permitting!

We are ending our 2 week stay at this hotel. We were lucky to arrive the Monday after the sandstorm and only a little delay thanks to British Airways. The hotel is beautifully arranged around stunning tropical gardens and although very big we did not feel it as the rooms are arranged in blocks with different colours in Spanish colonial style, surrounded by volcanic mountains. . Everywhere is spotlessly clean and there was no evidence of the sandstorm.Staff are friendly and attentive without being in your face. The dining room is arranged around garden spaces to view and enjoy. The food is of a high standard with lots of choice and plenty for vegetarians. Breakfast can be a bit frenetic if you time it wrong. Dinner you have you allotted table. Our waiter in the evening was Giannfranco and was so cheerful in the evening and very attentive, reminds one ofManuel in Faulty Towers but in a nice way. Thank you to him.Other dining staff were equally attentive Evening entertainment is low-key , a couple of the shows were a bit for children although quite late. Our room was spotless and quite luxurious and our maid was always available in the morning if we wanted anything. Our balcony had no sun morning or evening which suited us as it kept room cool so if you require sun ask on arrival. The clientele in the hotel were mixed nationalities which gave it a cosmopolitan feel. It is near the town and bus station if you venture out . We took some trips up into the mountains on the bus. There is a Friday market full of usual “market goods” to some people’s taste. There is a better smaller craft market on Monday morning.
Thank you to all the staff for making our holiday so relaxing and enjoyable. I hope we will return soon and will certainly recommend this hotel to friends back home. So sorry to be leaving this lovely Canarian sunshine for wet and windy UK.

After having had a wonderful stay in November (see separate review) I returned for another two weeks over the festive holiday period.

This stay was booked on short notice through the BeCordial website using the Club Cordial discount for prepayment: stay 7 nights, pay for 6 nights.

I originally had a room in building 5 reserved, however at check-in I learned that I got room 7324 instead. I couldn’t believe my luck! This is one of the best rooms on the property. The room is on the top floor overlooking the family pool. In the distance I could also see the ocean.

The room layout is the same in all the standard rooms. There is an entrance hall with a wardrobe and a wide floor to ceiling mirror. A safe is located in the wardrobe and can be used for a daily fee.

The bathroom has a bathtub with a shower, hairdryer and toiletries. The towels are fluffy and soft.

The room itself has twin beds pushed together, a mini fridge, two chairs, a table, a desk and desk chair, TV, dressing table with mirror and ottoman, and a kettle.

The balcony has two chairs and a table.

Beach towels are provided at check-in. You can swap beach towels in the mornings by the two pools for free.

I recommend booking on B&B basis instead of half board as there are excellent restaurants in town. The breakfast buffet is great with lots of choices including an omelette station and fresh fruit. Plenty of variety to keep me happy for 14 days.

There are two pool areas. One quiet adult pool and one family pool + a toddler pool. The sun beds have cushy mattresses.

The rooms and grounds are kept extremely clean. The architecture and the luscious gardens make the hotel into paradise. The ambiance is tranquil. This is not a modern corporate hotel. Cordial Mogan Playa is more the grand dame hotel in town.

I also want to praise the staff. They are always friendly and helpful with genuine smiles.

I’ve stayed at the hotel close to 20 times and for me it is the perfect location for sunshine during the winter months.

We stayed half board for a week from 20th February, and this was our fourth visit to this lovely hotel. The management and staff are excellent and make this place probably the nicest place to stay on the South of the island. This is a beautiful hotel in an exceptional location and caters mainly for more mature couples and families who can enjoy its lovely botanical gardens and the short stroll down to the beach and harbour. If you are looking for “action” and nightlife you must choose another town and a different hotel. The evening entertainment provided here is low-key and family orientated. The breakfast buffet is excellent with a huge variety to choose from. The buffet dinner, although not a gourmet experience, is well presented, provides a wide choice and is always very fresh. A big “thank you” to the management and staff for coping so well during and after the Calima (sand storm) and for the terrific clean-up job. We hope to return again next year.

Puerto Mogan is a beautiful resort with a beach, stylish Marina and beautiful alleyways covered in Bougainvillea.
The Cordial Mogan Playa is an amazing hotel. From arrival Reception was welcoming and very efficient. All the staff were friendly and hard working. Our room was well kept and Covid precautions were in evidence throughout the facility so we felt very secure.
We loved the pool, the grounds and its proximity to the beach and Marina.
Food was plentiful, tasty and offered lots of choice. The Snack Bar by the pool catered well for either a light or heavier bite during the day.
We travelled with Tui. Their App gave us info but there was no Representative at the hotel. I might be tempted to make my own holiday arrangements in future; when we did have difficulties we were lucky that our hotel was so willing to help.
The administration entailed in order to go on holiday and to return from it did take the shine off things a bit - so did the 120 Euro test to go home - not cheap. Our big problem turned out to be trying to arrange this Fit to Fly Test. The hotel had Clinic Test details and the test was done at the hotel; but completing the reservation form on line proved nightmarish. Wrong date, time altered appointment changed. ... Claudia and Elenia in Reception were amazing. I had to seek their help many times but they sorted everything out, phoning the Clinic and even printing the Covid Results for us too. They epitomise the service that this hotel provides for its guests.
We loved it there and will be staying again. Thank you.
