We have eaten lots of times here . Food and drink are great prices and tasty with good local options. Staff are very friendly, funny and great at remembering orders!! Also very close to the boat harbour and easy to get to :)

STAYED IN ROOM: Private room with AC and private showers (ground level) PLUS + Location! < 1 min walk from main jetty. Opposite Oceans 5 dive resort. + Spacious room, great AC. + FREE use of bicycles! But first come first serve. + FREE H2O refill! + AWESOME staff! + Big beds, clean sheets. + Transport arrangements available for onward journeys. MINUS - Hot shower not available in room (BUT available at shared shower area) SUMMARY We chose to stay with these guys on our last night on the island because it is very near the harbour and we needed to depart early the next morning. We were very pleased with the staff, room and service. Would return in future and highly recommended. Thanks guys! P.S. it's quiet day or night despite its location being near the harbour.

We only stayed here one night as we'd already booked our accommodation elsewhere but ended up arriving one day early. However as we turned up, the owner greatest us with a smile and knew who we were before we'd introduced ourselves. He was very friendly and kindly showed us to our room which was a really cool bamboo hut. The room featured 2 double beds, a shower (solar heated so if you use this first thing in the morning it will be very cold) a toilet and sink. It was comfy and each bed had a lockable storage compartment underneath with a removable key. Not quite as secure as an actual safe but much more roomy and slightly less conspicuous. Both beds had mosquito nets fitted though they both did have a couple of holes (much better than having none at all though). It's worth noting that if you get one upstairs you do need to carry your luggage up a set of bamboo stairs outside (see photo) and also note that the lighting isn't very bright so you may want a torch for night time. The location is great during the day for access to everything but it's far back enough from the beach that you don't get too much "bar noise" and far enough from the mosque to be too distracting. However, due to the design of the huts, they are far from sound proofed and you will clearly hear others in the area. We didn't really find this too much of a problem though and loved our stay. The location in perfect! Just a few minutes from the harbour and close to beach and many restaurants. Beds had mosquito nets and comfy beds. The biggest thank you to the wonderful staff who made our stay great. You will feel welcomed the minute you enter. Would definitely recommend this place and I will be back.

I traveled from Gili T to Gili air, when I got to the hostel I realised they had found my money and bank card on the boat. They stole it, stupid of me, I should have kept it on me. I didn't expect them to go through my bag on such a short trip which I obviously had no eye contact on. The owner of the hostel lent me money and allowed for me to pay him with PayPal in a few days as I required bank authorization and my bank in South Africa was closed. The level of trust and kindness u don't just find anywhere. People really make u feel like family, the food is cheap and fantastic with great guests and music. Super rare. Really recommend it. I am truly thankful for people like this.

Very clean, free breakfast with a lovely variety of dishes, i had the fruit salad which was lovely. Friendly people, especially the manager Guntur who made us feel very welcome by showing us around the island. Would highly recommend this hostel.

The fantastic Gili Hostel is directly at the harbour and close to many restaurants and shops. The little bungalows contain simple and clean dorms and the hostel itself offers good breakfast (more than 3 choices) and also lunch/dinner. A big plus is also the staff which is very friendly and helpful. It feels like family at the fantastic gili hostel!

We were due to stay here during our visit to Gili Air. However, due to inadequate directions on the listing page we were totally unable to find the hostel, and nobody seemed able to provide directions. We ended up forfeiting our deposit and staying at a different hostel. Only after TWO DAYS on Gili Air did we eventually walk past Fantastic. It did look like a great hostel but our trip was over by this point. I'd suggest adding better directions to the listing - it's on the Main Street running inland from the harbour area, a few minutes down the street on the right (just before Gili Air Hostel).

perfect for: groups, young people and those on a budget. Good; -location to beach and port -go inland and you find cheaper shops and resturants -shared bathroom ok but not big or overly clean -hostels are fun in the shape of a teepee -fan keep you cool but still a warm night -lockers are decent -communual area outside is decent -good for cheap and simple stay To consider; -right next to one of the main paths on island -mainly young people -cinema night is loud -cheap for a reason -no pool, some people prefer pool to sea

I spend one night in this hotel. The staff are friendly. You will share the room but it was a good experience to sleep in a bamboo house. Shower are very simple. The breakfast was good. For the price it's a good place to stay in gili air. Very fare of the ferry and the life island.
