We spent five nights on Gili Trawangan. We moved to Balu Sasak for the final three nights. The bungalow we had was cute with an outdoor shower (don’t worry it’s very private), comfortable bed and a great view of the pool. The pool was wonderful. They have two ponds with carp in them. Each pond had a waterfall - the gentle noise from the waterfall added to the ambiance. For budget accommodation it was very good value. The guys who work here went out of their way to make our stay a really memorable experience. We are in our mid-fifties and they were so respectful (they called us mamma and papa). Nothing was too much trouble for them and I think they were the happiest guys despite the residual difficulties from the earthquake in July. I would highly recommend Balu Sasak.

I don't usually leave reviews but I had such a bad experience that I think this warrants one. Room is old and not very clean. Our room sits on wooden stilts that feel like it was going to collapse at any time. The stair rails were also shaky and rickety and not safe at all. The outdoor toilet is dirty. The toilet seat is moldy and the shower water is a small trickle. At night it was very loud with people coming in at 3am in the morning and making a huge ruckus. There were also a lot of mosquitoes or bed bugs (not sure what they were) which left huge, itchy welts all over my body. The mosquito net had holes, rendering it pretty much useless. I did not sleep much the entire night. Wi-Fi signal is often weak and sometimes non-existent. The price is very cheap - this I do admit. However, I have definitely stayed in places that were cheaper and way better. The lack of amenities is not that important but at the very least, it should be clean and safe. I have read reviews of the hotel and it turns out the admin of the place spends more time sending snarky replies to people who have left bad reviews than actually fixing the place up.

The bungalow it’s self was nice and the shower was good but it was cold as it was outside. The pool area was good. The staff were nice and they make you breakfast. The only issue is this place is next to a mosque which plays the call to prayer so loud it’s actually deafening and it gets played a few times through the day and night so we got woken up at about 6am which was not good with a hangover! You can rent push bikes from the hostel which was good as well.

We had a great stay here. Located a little bit away from the main drag, this place was a little haven! My partner and I stayed in one of the bungalows with a pool view and my daughter and her friend had one of the slightly cheaper rooms. Both had an excellent air conditioning unit and an amazingly comfortable bed. Breakfast was the usual banana pancakes or omelette and toast with good coffee. The pool was lovely. What made our stay so special was the fabulous staff. They were so friendly and helpful. A truly outstanding team! Value for money, but don't expect 5 star standards for this price! It is beside the mosque which was very loud, but the same applies all over the island. We were on a boat trip and could still hear the call to prayer in the middle of the sea! Would definitely stay again if we come to Gili T. Thanks so much for a great stay guys x x

I visited this hotel during my business trip in Gili Trawangan. We had choosen this hotel basically for the price reason. It considered cheap, so I did not expecting too much. Well, the hotel has many rooms, they have a standard room, standard room with pool view (2 stories) and family room. I had an issue with the shower room, there were no water in the morning, I run to receptionist desk but there were no one there. And then the price I pay was including the breakfast. I had a meeting in 7 in the morning, but they claimed that breakfast was served at 8 in the morning. They had no solution, and I had no breakfast eventually. I think you need to reconsider more if you want to stay in this hotel. Remember, you'll always get what your pay, I don't expect too much, but the problem was real.

Hi, guys, I have to say the photo's that you see do not show the hotel properly. I have stayed at the place back in the Winter January and February of 2017. I stayed in the lower room beside the bungalows. On my second visit, I stayed in the main bungalow by the pool. I found the place to be a great bargain with a swimming pool and with prices that were very low. The owner and the staff were great they helped us with anything we needed and literally coming home late at night and having a quiet swim. This is honestly one of the best hotels without any nonsense rules as you are there to have a good time and enjoy yourself. I would go back in a heartbeat and oh Yeah Johnny and the boys where a lot of fun setting up the Redbull drinks.
