Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Paradesa (we even extended our stay there), mainly for the following reasons: ⁃ Beautiful pools, pool area and gardens; ⁃ The cottages are lovely and the outside bathroom was large and nice; ⁃ Possibility of bike rental at 40k per day p.p.; ⁃ AC working well; ⁃ Decent internet; ⁃ Hot water coming very fast; ⁃ Bar at the pool; ⁃ Friendly and smiley staff. We feel the following could be improved: ⁃ Breakfast offer: it was not the best food, nor the worst, but some efforts could be made to have sth tastier and better served (there was often not enough jam/honey with the waffle or crepe, too little yoghurt with the fruits, etc.) ⁃ Laundry service is definitively too expensive (although there is a laundry place just in front of the resort at only 25k per kg vs. 35k at Paradesa); same for the snorkelling/boat tours as we could find cheaper offers in town.

Paradesa stood out as one of the best places to stay when I was in Gili Trawangan earlier this year, however, since then, it seems to have gone on a rapid decline. Most notably, the fabulous breakfast buffet that I raved about in my previous review, has since been replaced by a very poor a la carte menu, which offers 5 very bland options, each consisting of a main 'meal' i.e. a single waffle, or pancake etc. and all are accompanied by a feeble attempt of a fruit salad and a selection of 5 fruit juices (two of which are actually available). This was by far the most impactful change to Paradesa. A buffet was held on 25 December, although it was laughable compared to the quality of the breakfast earlier this year. It may run weekly, or it may have just been a special occasion - but either way, half as many options were available and the ingredients were sub-par. 80% of our taken orders at breakfast were wrong, as it seems the usual staff have been replaced by schoolgirls - something I'm told that some businesses do in order to save money on staffing. This was disappointing because they spoke little English and clearly had not worked in a hospitality environment prior to this. The restaurant wherein breakfast was held was also vastly overstaffed and it felt like four people were doing a one-man job, and whilst idling, they'd persistently stare at you, watching your every move. No doubt this is something that they're told to do by the managerial staff to ensure guest's needs are catered for immediately, but they seemingly overlooked how anxiety evoking and disturbingly uncomfortable this can be - especially for someone having breakfast alone. The above being said, we were satisfied as usual by the bubbly girl on reception who, honestly, should probably resign and work somewhere a bit more prestigious. Bike hire was also very simple and straightforward - there was a problem with the bike I was initially given but the staff were more than happy to switch it with another once they realised it was no good. A few minor problems worth mentioning include: The AC's aren't regularly checked (the AC in the first room we stayed in was leaking) The batteries in the TV remotes aren't routinely changed (this could be done in 5 minutes, monthly) The chlorine levels in the pool are immense. If you have light hair, prepare to leave GT with green hair. The rooms aren't routinely sprayed (to kill mosquitoes) The first room we stayed in didn't have a clothes-line, or dental kits - and bizarrely the second room we stayed in (which was identical), had all of these missing things - I have no idea how the staff could get everything correct for one room but incorrect for another.. My advice for the owners: Bring back the buffet breakfast, or lower the price for rooms. Your villa is priced highly for what it is now, and this is something that will send Paradesa on a downward spiral until it is obsolete. Staff could ask guests in the pool if they would like food or drinks, or there could at least be a menu by the pool - this is something that most villas on GT do already. Mosquito coils should be provided outside each room. Spare towels for the pool should be provided in the room (separate from towels for showering) The sunbeds nearest the hotel lobby are directly beneath a tall coconut tree. Hopefully you are already aware of this, because what's left of Paradesa will disappear if a coconut falls on someone - namely a guest. To conclude: it seems as if Paradesa are budgeting on all possible aspects, whilst the price of the room remains the same. Sadly, because of this, as well as the above reasons, I will be looking elsewhere during future visits to GT.

Situated smack bang in the middle of Gili T, I recommend you hop on a horse and cart and pay the 100k transfer, particularly if you've got luggage to drag behind you. The lanes to the hotel are rugged and unlit but are perfectly fine for walking to the coast/beach when not ladden with luggage.  On arrival we were instantly impressed with the great looking Bungalows and pool area. Check-in was a breeze and we were thankful they could accommodate us at our 11am arrival. The bungalow was really well appointed with electronic key-card door, good WiFi, satellite TV and decent a/c however it wasn't the cleanest. There was a q-tip on the bathroom floor, stained sheets, a broke toilet roll holder and a bathroom door that wouldn't stay closed, requiring us to hook a heavy bag over the handle to stop it blowing open. We forgave these mishaps and considered the value of the hotel. The pool was a plesent place to relax though it too could do with a good clean. Although quiet, the friendly staff always made an effort to tend the pool bar and serve drinks which was really nice to see. Breakfast was a mixed bag of random as you can often expect at these kind of resorts- for example if you enjoy fish, waffles, chicken, rice and beans for breakfast then this will not be a problem.  Location wise you've got a 10 minute stroll through back alleys to find the busiest and best part of the nightlife/restaurants whilst a 15 minute (somewhat complex yet baron) route west will out you at Pink Coco for a great meal and sunset views. Although this place is properly tucked away from the main strip you're still not far from the action and you probably benefit from a quieter resort - which we loved. Great value resort, but needs a good hose down and a little tlc for the full 5 stars.

Throughout my visit to Indonesia this year, we ended up staying in several different villas on Gili Trawangan. Out of the several villas that we stayed at, this was by far our favourite - and also the only one at which we ended up extending our initial stay for (from 2 nights to 6). The location is decent - you are a 5-10 minute walk from the beach and there are a lot of surrounding restaurants and cafés. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and approachable. They make you feel very welcome with some iced tea during check-in. They will usually always wish you good morning with big smiles, and in general I felt much more of a sense of desire-to-please here than at anywhere else I have stayed in Gili T. The villa itself is beautiful. Each wooden hut is very comfortable and cozy and the private outdoor bathrooms were lovely - boasting a cute garden, a large wide vanity mirror, a modern flat shower head and.. hot water ! A whatsapp number is provided when you check in and you can use this if you have any problems. Whenever we had queries about early breakfasts, late check-outs, bicycle rentals, Wi-Fi connectivity or wanted to order room service or to have our rooms made up, they were very fast and polite in replying and it was clear they were passionate about providing an excellent service. Breakfast was lovely - each morning a buffet is prepared including waffles/pancakes with honey (dangerous!), chicken/fish, rice/noodles, vegetables, fruit juice, toast, and much more. Staff were also on hand to greet you and as a point of call for any problems. They also prepared eggs on request, made however you like them (including a tasty spanish-style omelette with bell peppers). Paradesa neighbours another sister-villa (which may come under the same name) which is accessible through a short pathway and here you'll find several more cute wooden huts and another pool which you'll also have full access of! The greatest part about this is that one of the pools is deep and long enough for length swimming. The other pool is more of an atmospheric/chill-out area with beautiful features and even an area that boundaries a pool bar so you can order drinks at your luxury. My only nag is that staff did not actively ask if you wanted any snacks or drinks when lounging in/around the pool, so often we would have to wait 10-15 minutes for someone to walk past by-chance. Also, unless you were one of the first to get to the pool in the morning, you may find that you won't have a beach towel and you'll have to ask the staff for one - this could be solved by storing a few in each of the rooms. To conclude, Vila Paradesa is excellent. We will definitely be staying here again.

Set back from the beach, about a ten minute walk through rural Gili T from the main strip. The hotel has a breath taking pool area, with a swim up bar, comfortable sun loungers and a very friendly bar tender. The rooms are spacious, beds were large and extremely comfortable. The outdoor bathroom was a very nice touch. Pool side food and drinks were excellent, relatively cheap and good value for money. Breakfast was simple but served it’s purpose. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. Overall an excellent stay and experience.
