Never ever, ever go there again, worst location in the middle of the island. Not even welcome drink after you paid so much money , the pool was very dirty and we have to complain then they just fixed. The pillow was smelly .
We lived a two days dream. From the cruise to reach the Gili islands to the return to Bali island. The boat was comfy, the sea like a lake, two men from the resort waiting for us took our (heavy!) backbags on their push-bikes, and we followed them, walking fifteen mn on a charming trail between trees, singing birds like to welcome us. Arriving to the desk office of Ottalia, we were offered excellent fresh cocktails (without alcohol) and quickly conducted to our villa, like a hidden love nest in heaven. The villa is not large, but was perfect for the stay (no cooking, no laundry by ourselves, hey!). Excellent bed and mattress, beautiful simple decoration, my girlfriend told she wants the same bathroom in our future home! The island is a real paradise, the desk had organized a diving on the site of the sunk statues, which are impressive, We enjoyed a lot the big swimming-pool until late and a three-stars french dinner (the red wine was...excellent, and the tiredness helped us to sleep like stones), as we loved our awakening in this silence, this quietness in the Nature. The breakfast in the restaurant was delightful, with fresh homemade bread which was good as cake, the coffee excellent, and we filled up our bodies with fantastic fruits from the buffet. We spent most of our time in the villa and in and around the pool, cared by a lovely staff who was always ready for our satisfaction. These two days stay has been so out of time and relaxing that it has been a week! We will go back there as soon as possible!…
Can not fault this place to stay. It is out of the Main Street and north but that is why it’s so lovely and quiet. The pool was magnificent, the rooms gorgeous and clean. The staff helpful and friendly. We had buffet breakfast included which was lovely. I doubt you’d find a better place to stay for the price on Gili Meno.
Room and toilet are smaller then it looks on the photo. Air Con works well. Staffs are really helpful and friendly. Buffet breakfast is good. It is located in the middle of the island. If you don’t rent a bike, you will need to walk around 10-20mins to either side of the island. Hotel staff will be able to help to order the horse cart if needed.
Our experience at villa ottalia has been the worst during our trip around Indonesia, especially because we were expecting to stay in a medium-high quality hotel and it wasn't like this. The rooms are really clean and nice, but that's it. Beside the accommodation I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone and not to Italians for sure. The buffet breakfast is pretty much ridiculous as they write a lot of choices on the menu, but at the end you will find the same things every day. We like sweet breakfast and they pretend to have sweets to, things that is not true at all. They have always runs out of jam, milk, muesli and cereals. The fruits choice low and meagre, and the rest of the breakfast is kind of inadequate for the price that they charge you for. There are definitely a lots of better places on the island where to have a better breakfast for the same price or even less. Beside breakfast, we had a big problem one night as at 3am a group of guests were having a party with loud music and yelling. There was no one of the staff around the hostel during that night (as the manager told us) and when we kindly asked to the guests to make less noise, they turned up the volume and keep going on having their party, all drunk and impolite. To be honest we felt a little scared and unsafe and I think is unacceptable considering where we stayed. The manager had tried to ask sorry offering us two small beers from the bar but sincerely it wasn't enough for how we felt. We were supposed to spend a quiet week on Gili meno island and considering it, I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone. There are a lots of places that worth the money more and deserve guests more than "Les Villas Ottalia".…
the best apartments I have ever seen! We had separate apartments with two own swimming pools. Everything was clean and nice. Food and breakfast at restaurant were also amazing. Bike rental is a really good service. Staff was also really kind. We will come back for sure!
I’m always hesitant to give a poor rating as it often negatively affects the staff. With the exception of one rude barman, the folks here are very friendly and helpful. A special shout out to the lovely gal who ran the breakfast time with such cheerful, prompt attention to everyone. She should have a very successful career in the hospitality industry! My major issue with this place was the horrendous condition of the most of the facilities. I’ve included photos to show the mildewed cushions and rotted wood on the sun beds. The pool deck has many rusty nails popping up (in fact one board flipped up when another guest stepped in it). I didn’t dare walk on the deck without sandals in fear that my feet would get splinters. Wood on the patio fence is also rotting and the shower stall is very groty. On a positive note the shower head had been updated and there was good water pressure. The bed was fine, although the mosquito net mounted on a wooden ring came crashing down on the bed our last day. This is claimed to be an eco lodge but there was not way for us to get drinking water other than buying one use bottles. We ended up staying here for several days only because we booked ahead and couldn’t get a refund. I strongly suggest you think twice before making the same mistake we did! …
Loved this little villa and the design/interior. Was very shabby chic and the private pool was a bonus for that added privacy/peace! Pool was warm and cleaned daily, showers nice and hot, only thing we didn’t like was having to walk a fair bit to decent restaurants and the harbour. Bikes weren’t available to hire and when we did get one it was more stressful trying to drag it through the sand and on the dodgy roads with no light at night. Breakfast was alright, definitely recommend the choc/banana pancakes. Mini bar stocked daily and mosquito net around the bed (although we still ended up getting bitten to death with spray on too while we were here!) Would recommend going to Mahamaya restaurant if staying here! a best restaurant on island for western food.
Stayed here for 8 nights 2 adults and 2 children in 2 villas with private pool. Villas were nice, clean and spacious. The private pools were a little too small for the kids to play in so we used the bigger public pool which is very nice. Staying in high season, you might find that plates, glasses etc. are not sufficient in the breakfast buffet or you have to wait for your eggs to arrive, which some guests found annoying. However it really isn’t much of an issue in my opinion, wait a few minutes, talk to your loved ones, enjoy the fact that your on holiday on a wonderful little island and unwind. Staff are super friendly and will do everything in their power to help you out. Staying for more than 3 nights will make you part of the family. Location is “off the beaten track”. At Meno that translates into: 10-12 min walk to the beaches with turtle reef on one site and under water statues on the other. 25 min walk to the harbor and the beautiful paradise like beach. Rent bikes and you will get around in half that time. 5 min walk to Jizzy Warung (in our opinion the best food on Meno).…
Wow, such a peaceful place with decent quality villas, and nice pools. I headed back to GIli Meno for a weekend break last week after fallign in love with it on a family vacation last month. Decided to try a cheaper option and was shocked at how good a place you can find for the price! You may think that beach side is absolutely essential, but this island is so small, even slightly inland you are barely ten minutes from the beach by walking through unspoiled local villages. HIghly recommended
