We spent 5 nights and would highly recommend this place. The service and food were the highlights. Its a small island, but if you are up for relaxing, this is a great place. The chef was amazing and took great care of us. This would also be a great place if you have dietary restrictions, they will accommodate. The owner is on the island and she treats you like part of her family. We really enjoyed our stay here.
I can't say enough about this place. My husband and I came here February of 2020 and got super lucky when we booked our vacation here. We were one of only two couples here, lol! The moment you arrive in Dangriga you are treated like family. We were picked up by the resort owners daughter and driven through town to catch our boat. On the drive she gave us the history of the town. When we boarded we had about a 45 minute boat ride to the island due to the wind. 30 minute ride on a good day. The moment we arrived we were greeted by Carlene (Mgr) and Sergio (Concierge) who offered us a 'refreshing damp cloth' and I believe it had a hint of eucalyptus too. We were escorted to the bar area where a refreshing coconut drink was waiting for us. Once our luggage was ready Carlene took us to our bungalow and gave us a run down of the property. Sergio was our concierge/server/bartender. Ask him for his signature drink the "Mosquito Bite" it is amazing. He is very attentive and helpful. At 4 in the afternoon, he will bring you a afternoon snack to your room. Mo is the young Chef here. He makes local belizian cuisine and puts his own flair into his dishes. He was on the Taste of Belize in 2018 I believe. He food is delicious. There is nothing like fresh seafood. He will come out to your table every evening to ask how your dinner was. He is very humble and welcomes all feedback. If you have never had FRYJACKS, it's worth the trip to Belize to try them. Carlene manages the property. She sees to all your needs and makes sure you are well taken care of. Anything you need she will take care of it. She also took care of all our travel needs once we landed in Belize city. All of our connections, pick ups and drop offs. So grateful that I didn't have to worry about that. Richard was our boat captain and Milo was our guide. We had two snorkeling trips on two day each. One at 9 am and the other at 2 pm. The island is right off the reef so we had some of the best sites and marine life. Milo pointed out all the different types of fish. We saw lobsters, turtles, eel, spotted eagle rays, and so much more. All the bungalows face the east. The sunrises from your room are beautiful and the sunset off the patio that faces west are amazing. At the south tip of the island is a white sandy beach area that you can hang out and do some snorkeling. Of all the places in Belize that we have stayed, this is by far our favorite. I fell in love with this little treasure and my husband and I working on coming back next March.…
From my first interaction with Carlene, I knew I couldn't pass up a stay at Blue Marlin. This was my 4th visit to Belize, and I'm so glad I found this place. Carlene was amazing at booking my stay and answering my numerous questions, they even allowed me to nap in a room at Bonefish while I waited for the boat to depart to South Water Caye. They welcomed me and my little pup Kali with open arms. Elvin, Stacy and Isabella are amazing and everything here was perfect. If you are looking for a true Belize vacation, this is your spot. Snorkeling literally right off the island, diving, Chef Mo made some amazing meals. I travel solo and never felt unsafe here, You can just unplug, be one with nature and meet some amazing people. I will keep in touch with folks I met on the island, and I will surely return for another holiday vacation for many years to come. If you are looking for the Ritz, Belize is not for you. If you want a true island getaway with personal attention, where everyone knows your name, Blue Marlin is it. My cabin was spacious, very clean and the Belikin is always cold. There are numerous day trips that go out daily or you can just relax in a hammock and read a book. You never have to ask for anything, you are so well taken care of here. The food was amazing, snacks served to you mid afternoon ( they just find you on the resort and serve!). Every night you can walk along the dock and find eagle rays, sting rays, tarpon, bonefish... it's is spectacular! Blue Marlin is a special place. I cannot wait to return! Thank you for an amazing experience and treating me and Kali like family.…
Blue Marlin Lodge on S. Water Caye welcomed my family and I like an old friend. We have never felt less a stranger in a remote island. We are grateful for Isabell's organization and attentive nature. Elvin's social, high energy, and conscientious service made for a fun time in the dinning room. The chef made healthy, fresh and tasty food at each and every meal with a happy pleasant waitress. Stacey, Thomas, and Richard's knowledge about the reef, the island, and Belize culture gave us an educational experience we will never forget. We felt safe, welcomed, and well cared for. The weather was perfect. Sunny summer like days tanned our skin. The stars in the night sky are visible like no other place in the western hemisphere. Air conditioning was available, but no need; the island breeze lulled us to sleep each night. The hammock, walks on the island, watching sting rays fish each night, snorkeling, bird watching, searching mangroves for animals, watching small crabs at night hunt for food, manatees swimming...what else could one want on a vacation? …
Every year, I take a vacation alone for about a week somewhere warm with a beach. Last year, I went to Belize and just loved it. So I decided to go back and searched for an island in Belize for my 2019 adventure which this year, included diving. I found Blue Marlin Resort in South Water Caye, a little island about 14 miles from the little town of Dangriga. I booked it. Was I in for a treat! Booking was easy. Carlene too care of everything including the reservations for the little plane from Belize City to Dangriga, the car taking me to the dock, and the boat ride to South Water Caye. There was even someone waiting for me at the airport in Belize City to make sure everything went smoothly. I was the only guest on the boat and arrived on this wee little island after a 45ish minute beautiful ride. I was met with a big smile from Sonia and refreshing coconut water from Elvin. My lovely, spotless bungalow was feet from the water. The bed was magnificently comfortable with an air conditioning option for sleeping, which I rarely used. My porch had adirondack chairs and there were adirondack chairs and chaise lounges on the beach just steps from my bungalow. My favorite was the hammock between two palm trees where I watched the sun come up every morning. Although this tiny island with its history and beauty is amazing (the whole island is less than ¼ mile long and you can see from one side to the other), the real gems are the people. Blue Marlin Resort is a Belizean family-owned resort with all of the warmth you would expect from a family. Elvin made sure I had everything I needed. No matter where I was, Elvin appeared, always with a smile, with my delicious snack every day. Sonia made the most delicious rum martinis. And the food, prepared by Chef Moe, was fresh, delicious, and beautifully plated. On a Yummy Index of 1-10, Chef Moe gets a 10! I have celiac and have to be gluten-zero. I didn’t have to worry about anything; Chef Moe had me covered. And then there was the extraordinary dive master, Stacey. My last dive was in 2005 when I was certified in Culebra so I was a bit nervous. Stacey’s knowledge of her craft, creative teaching skills, and her ability to intuit the emotions of her divers is exceptional. And her personality is an A+++. I had a terrific diving experience. We were right on the barrier reef so getting to the diving sites didn’t take much time at all. The underwater world was stunning. This is a definite do-over! As a woman travelling by myself, I always felt safe on this trip. I also never felt “weird” being on a remote, romantic island by myself. The kind of people Blue Marlin Resort attracts are wonderful and inclusive in their own rite. If you need to be entertained, want the party life, need lots to do, and require lots of amenities, please don’t come here. There are many, many places around the world where you would be quite happy. If you want a special, one-of-a-kind experience on an exquisite, remote island with genuine, warm people, Blue Marlin Resort may be just for you!…
