Enjoyed a 2 night break in this lovely country hotel. John and Jane are wonderful hosts although we only met John on our arrival. He is busy in the kitchen producing great breakfasts and gourmet dinners. His desserts are a work of art. We stayed in the comfortable ground floor suite and were glad of that because the weather wasn’t kind. The sun came out on the morning we left so called in at Dunster before heading home. Would definitely return.

This is a wonderful quiet country retreat in beautiful surroundings. Husband and wife team John and Jane are lovely hosts. John a brilliant chief that produced two wonderful dinners and breakfasts for us and Jane is a lovely charming face of the house. Best for couples looking for quite and foodies for sure as little else around withing walking distance, other than walking naturally which is great to the beacon. Very good VFM too. All in all great. Covid sensitive as you would expect.

What a joy it was for our walking group to return to the Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel after having had to postpone our earlier booking in May. The delay and the general frustrations of recent restrictions made this stay all the more enjoyable for everyone. John and Jane Bradley had set up the hotel to ensure that we all felt entirely safe, and everyone, staff and guests alike, kept to the house rules meticulously. The two main attributes of the hotel were again appreciated by everyone. First, the quality and variety of the walking in the immediate vicinity of the hotel is outstanding. Secondly, the quality of John's cooking in itself makes a visit worthwhile. He has remained true to using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. As ever, Jane's selection of wines complemented John's cooking superbly. We had no hesitation in booking again for next year. This hotel is a beacon of excellence in a rapidly changing world, and should be cherished for that fact.

To say that we see more of you (the group) than our own family is no exaggeration and we always look forward to welcoming you back each year. Your review is much appreciated and all the more welcome in these difficult times. May you all stay safe this winter and return to us for another enjoyable stay.

Enjoyed a lovely 3 night break in this small country house hotel near Dunster on the edge of Exmoor. The room was very comfortable, with all amenities including fresh milk and bottled water, and great views of Dunkery Beacon and the Exmoor countryside. John and Jane were the perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. We dined in on 2 nights and the food was fantastic, John a first class chef. All Covid precautions were in place and we felt quite safe. A visit to Dunster and the Castle should not be missed and walks to Selworthy Beacon and around Horner Woods are highly recommended. We enjoyed our visit so much, we will hopefully return once things are back to normal.

Thank you for your lovely review. It is always a pleasure to have guests staying and enjoying both our facilities and the benefits of Exmoor National Park. Although we are in a very rural spot, we are, as you pointed out, ideally located to walk the moor, the coastal path at Selworthy or the National Trust properties of Dunster Castle and working water mill. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future.

We first stayed here in August and couldn't keep away, so have just returned from our second visit. Hotel setting perfect for walking and the restaurant is superb all cooked by chef/proprietor John whilst wife, Jane is front of house. They make you feel welcome and cater for your every need. They operate a good Covid-19 policy which makes you feel safe while it does not intrude into your enjoyment of your stay. Both John and Jane and their staff are pleasant and friendly. We shall return, hopefully before too long.
