We stayed 5 days here and were sorry to leave. Jane has a seemingly effortless way of making sure that her guests feel valued. We were shown in by John (we have eaten at the restaurant before but as he is the chef we hadn't met him in the past). He explained that we could collect fresh milk and bottled water from the fridge which was a great idea. They were very Covid safe in every way. They have thought about everything in the room. There were plenty of mirrors, home made biscuits, a step for disabled people for me near to the shower. Decoration is modern, subtle and good quality. The views from the room were wonderful and we slept really well. They got the temperature right as just when it got chilly the radiators came on. The windows opened too. I liked being able to let ourselves in using a key pad. It felt as though we were able to come and go as we pleased. Breakfasts were table service because of Covid. There was such a variety of choice. The fruit salad was wonderful. I was able to have gluten free sausages, gluten free fried bread and gluten free porridge. What a treat. Evening meals in the restaurant felt special and the food was as always beautifully presented with a good choice. Particular mention of home made icecream in liquorish flavour and fantastic strawberry and vanilla jam at breakfast which delivered a hit of intense flavour. Owing to the layout of the hotel with a veranda and steps and to the rough gravel in the car park it wouldn't be ideal if you had to stay in a wheelchair even though we were in a ground floor room. We love this hotel so much that we considered booking for the Christmas period, but they were already booked up.

Had the best meal at this lovely hotel. Would recommend it very highly. Our group all enjoyed their meals and we would love to come back. If you are looking for the finest meal in the Exmoor area then this is the place to go.

We enjoyed a great 4-night break here as part of a holiday around Somerset and Devon. The room was really excellent: spacious, every amenity you could want and brilliant views over Exmoor from the bay window. We were made to feel very welcome by John and Jane (the hosts), who also went out their way to accommodate any requests. Notably, when we'd pre-planned a day trip to Lundy meaning a departure before breakfast started, we were sent on our way with both packed breakfast and lunch (thanks so much!). The restaurant is fabulous, a real emphasis on local produce of top quality. The hotel is really in the middle of countryside - be prepared for some narrow lanes! - but equally is a short drive from Minehead and Dunster, both well worth visiting, and not far from the likes of Lynton / Lynmouth. Finally, we were seriously impressed with how literally everything had been thought of on the covid front - could not have been done any better. Wish everywhere was like that... Hope to return and wish you all the best.

John and Jane, who are the proprietors, made us very welcome when we stayed last week for a short stay in (on?) Exmoor. John is a chef and Jane, we later found out, used to work in the wine industry. A perfect combination which was evident in the standard of meals and wine selection ( the best during our extended trip to the West Country). The food was individually prepared, fabulously presented and was a delightful finish to a day. The hotel is in a wonderful setting and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The room we had was on the second floor, was very spacious and comfortable and had great views from both the bedroom and ensuite. This couple know how to look after their guests. The staff were fabulous. Local ladies who were very attentive, helpful and friendly. Overall, a great place to stay - fabulous food, nice room and great location.

Enjoyed a 2 night break in this lovely country hotel. John and Jane are wonderful hosts although we only met John on our arrival. He is busy in the kitchen producing great breakfasts and gourmet dinners. His desserts are a work of art. We stayed in the comfortable ground floor suite and were glad of that because the weather wasn’t kind. The sun came out on the morning we left so called in at Dunster before heading home. Would definitely return.
