We really enjoyed the stay. The gardens and pool are excellent. Breakfast was very nice. My only complaint was that it was impossible to sit on our balcony because of the persistent smoking next door.
We had booked 5 nights at the Villa Maria down on the lake, but were horrified to receive an e mail just a couple of hours drive away to say that it was overbooked! I have experienced overbooked flights before, but never a hotel. Villa Maria could barely offer an apology but the wonderful Park hotel swiftly came to the rescue offering a beautiful lake view room for the night. We were extremely lucky that it was low season & they had availability. As soon as we walked through the door I immediately dashed back down to reception to try & secure another 4 nights. Yes it’s further from the lake but what you gain is an oasis of peace and calm , away from the hustle and bustle of the small town with its bars & restaurants. The huge room with amazing views of the lush gardens, surrounding hills , lake & distant mountains had inside and outside seating & terrace . It was everything & more that we could have dreamt of. Lovely breakfast in conservatory overlooking gardens was unexpected bonus in rate. I booked direct & they replied to my enquiry immediately. Very well organised & friendly staff. Relaxed , unstuffy atmosphere. So pleased we ended up there. Every cloud has a silver lining!…
We have been there a few times so far! And every time we travel to Italy, this is a place we like to stay before heading back home. We just love about everything there. It is a bit away from the center, but only about 5 minutes to walk to get to the market and numerous restaurants and shops. Switzerland is just a stone throw away as well. Or just a trip around the Lago Maggiore. Great breakfast, nice pool, friendly service, clean and cozy! A gem really!
Fantastic in all aspects. Personal is very helpful and arrangements/reservations outside the hotel were all very satisfactorily set up . Rooms are clean and lovely furnished Excellent pool integrated nicely in the surrounding gardens. We will come back next year .
Villa Belvedere has some very lovely rooms. the main accommodation block looks lovely. i wasn't in it. i was in the newer additional rooms that don't have a view and back on to the car parking area. The hospitality is very good: the welcome is warm and front desk very helpful. the breakfast buffet gets a bit repetitive, and for some reason some guests seemed to have a pre-reserved system for getting preferential table booking...for breakfast. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the area. it was difficult to sit out in the evening as they were a real problem. The outside lighting didn't work when we arrived and so an engineer had to attend to repair this. the housekeeping was good but basic things, like replacing teabags, didn't always happen and dirty cups weren't removed. What i really like is that there is a great running/walking track literally at the back of the hotel which loops round the whole town. this is great if you want a walk or a run. In one occasion my travelling companion wanted a light lunch (tuna salad) and asked if she could take it in the room so she could sit outside in the garden to eat it. she wasn't allowed to, and so had to sit at a small table near reception eating it which seemed very strange. overall a clean, fairly high end, well run hotel but could do with improving the breakfasts, housekeeping and be aware which room you are booked in to.…
