We had not had a meal here for 13 years but this remains the class restaurant on Lago Maggiore. At Carmine about a couple of miles to the south of Cannobio, the position is idyllic. The food is beautifully cooked but forget pizzas. The risottos are to die for as are the desserts. We booked but you didn't have to. Wines and prices of them mind blowing but superb. Brilliant

We haven't been here in ages. I loved every single mouthful, starting from the prosecco. Excellent wine list, it's true it can be expensive but the quality of the meat, fish and vegetable is TOP so logically you pay for top. I had the "fassona tartare" as en entree, (fassona is the typical piemontese cow), and that was served with a crunchy salad, thin strips of toast and butter with herbs. My husband and I had the chateaubriand (the heart of the filet) cooked to perfection with pan fried potatoes and steamed vegetables, a fantastic sauce was served on the side (which my husband finished off withe the left over bread). I only had coffee but our friends had the dessert. End of the meal, a lovely grappa for me and a limoncello for my husband. Perfect service, super clean.

We stayed at the hotel a couple of years ago, and we came back for the fantastic food at the restaurant. Again we had an excellent dinner. The chef is very ambitious and cares for all details. Each dish is beautifully served and the quality is superior. Don't miss desserts. They are each a taste of heaven. Go for a great food experience with a spectacular lake view.

We have stopped here twice for lunch and have not been dissapointed either time. Pasta dishes and risotto´s have been wonderful as. Mains have also been top notch. Desserts are also very good also. I had a wild fruit zabioni and it was very nice.. The wines are available by the glass have been very good the staff more than welcome to make a good suggestion to match the food. I speak very limited Italian but thats not been an issue here. Maybe a tad pricey but well worth a visit if just for a meal by the lake.

We were driving and found some parking adjacvent to a restaurant, so we stopped to eat. 2 famlies of 4. Firstly we were met with the abhorent stares and frowns of the staff (a family of people who looked like they had sucked a bag of lemons before the dinner service). They were rude, non attentive and i think this is all because we had kids. We spent 155 Euros so it was no minimal meal in value for this part of the world, but the portions of food was ok, reasoinable in taste but the rudeness of staff was like nothing I have ever experienced. We felt unwelcomed and no thankyou for our patronage. We had no offer of water, breads or other pre dinner drinks, which seemed to be standard for all other guests. im guessing because we had children they stereotyped us as walk in headaches they would serve and hopefully leave soon. I would never recommend this place simply for the appauling service and attitude toweards us and our famalies. Absolutely disgusting. Dine here if you must, the views are brilliant, the menu is ok, but hideously overpriced. An extensive wine list, but again prices are wehat youd expect at a michelin star restaurant in zurich.
