Efficient service and friendly staff. The home made pasta, the gnocchis and seafood were all excellent. We enjoyed eating outside on their beautiful terrace next to the lake. We can only recommend you to go when you visit Cannobio.
We stayed 3 nights here with half board. We had a room facing the lake. Our room is spacious, quiet, clean with a comfortable bathroom. The dinner is sufficiently good with competent and friendly service. The hotel personnel are friendly and helpful. The location is great, close to everything with a beautiful view. Our room is not modern nor very stylish, but it does have an old-fashioned unpretencious charm. It is very clean and well taken care of and the price is correct. Will stay here if we come again to this charming Italian little town-
We were spending some days over Easter in Locarno and went to the Sunday market in cannobio. After shopping it was time for some good Italian lunch, so we thought, and as all other restaurants were full we stopped by Il Portico. Already the reception was nonexistent, many waiters were nervously running around and none had time for us; finally we got a table for four inside as we wished. We ordered a little mixed started which took already quite some time to be served and it's quality (bit o fresh cheese, some hams) was not great for what this region has to offer. We had then ordered some pasta as main dish and that was apparently just too much for their service and kitchen; after asking multiple times about when our food would finally arrive and always getting the same response (in just a little bit, in five minutes, etc.) - the inside part of the restaurant was almost empty by that time - we decided to leave; one hour waiting was too much; of course the waiter assured the food was just arriving but that was enough for us. Great disappointment; the whole process from waiters to kitchen is a disaster; we'll certainly not give them a second chance also because the starter already gave us a bad feeling about what was to come next. My recommendation: make a big bypass around this place, it looks nice but it's not worth it.…
Wonderful little hotel restaurant hiding under the church in the crypt , Situated very near a large car park and on the promenade . Very helpful friendly staff who were happy to interact and with menus in several languages and a lovely range of food . The coffee was bellisimo ! Clean toilets , lovely accessible disabled toilets
The reason why we visited Cannobio was the cantina called Casa Bava. Hotel il Portico is very close to it and it has a nice restaurant. As tasting wines takes its toll and strolling in the sun shine does not help even if the scenes are just gorgeous and we needed to find a place to eat. Il Portico is just by the Lake Maggiore across the walk way, no cars passing by, so it is a pleasant place to sit. The waiters are all suited in black and white, top service, and the food is good, not very expensive at all, so really worth visiting.
We came to this hotel 10 years ago and liked it. Since then this hotel has obviously been modernized. It is conveniently located right at the ship landing square. This time we stayed 3 nights at this hotel and we were happy with the room with an elegant Italian balcony facing the courtyard. Our room was clean, large, with two windows to the balcony and the bath room was also clean with large windows. Well secured large parking space was most appreciated as it is not always the case in Italy. Our daughter and a granddaughter stayed at another large room next to us and they enjoyed the sunny hotel back-garden in front of an old beautiful hall with a piano, all practically exclusively for us during our stay. The hotel personnel were all very friendly and assisted us well in organizing our excursions. In the evening we had a peaceful walk at the lakeside, which are only a few steps from our room. We had a dinner once at the hotel restaurant, which was excellent (hotel quests get 10% discount) and the standard was high. The only draw back was the fact that Wi-Fi was available only at the reception area but this does not decrease the value of this hotel so much.…
Stayed for 3 nights from 30th August, location of hotel right in the centre of Cannobio, we hired a car in Switzerland and drove over the Simplon Pass, very scenic route, bad points lots of roadworks and hold ups. Plenty of parking at hotel. Hotel is typical Italian style, our room was in the villa behind the hotel, we had a large ground floor room, with huge bathroom, an outdoor terrace facing the gardens with table & chairs also 2 sunloungers. Room was very comfortable and clean. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Breakfast was OK, we did not eat in hotel in evening as there are so many restaurants nearby on the lakeside. There is a lovely large beach with lots of facilities on the lake, also lovely walks by the river. Nice shops in town. Would definitely recommend.
Got a mountain side room for 130 € but it probably should have been a bit cheaper. Nothing to actually complain about, all up to standard but not special. Other, cheaper places I'd rather stay next time.
Fabulous place, lovely view of the lake from our hotel room, very close to the main street, friendly personnel, very pretty village. The sunday market at Cannobio is something to experience! small critique: their breakfast could be better! And the servers at breakfast are all young but speak hardly any english. Also, the WiFi is only restricted to the lobby and is not available in the rooms, which is a bummer. But this would not stop me staying at this hotel again, as it was a great value for money.
Perfectly located in this little town, almost on the lake, with great views. Even the back rooms are nice, with the great garden/park. The rooms are nice and some even have a terrace. Easy and safe parking in the hotel lot. The restaurant, under the church, is worth a visit. It serves best Italian food a reasonable prices.
