This charming lakeside resort is composed of three historical buildings: among them one was a former monastery and another a house of the “Baron di Sant’Agabio.” Suites are decorated in the Lombardy style with breathtaking views. Lake-facing bedrooms are found on four floors—all are charming. Additional guestrooms look out to the swimming pool, as do ten self-catering apartments that can accommodate from two to four persons. Ferries leave from the dock in front of the hotel.

My wife and I went on a short 3 night break to Cannero. We were unfortunate with the weather, but it didn’t stop a wonderful stay. The hotel is family run and I can’t praise it highly enough. All of the staff we interacted with were friendly, helpful and spoke good English. We paid the extra for a room with lake view and small balcony. Well worth it. There are 2 restaurants, both serving wonderful food. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss as it took a while for the food to be replaced. Attached to the hotel is a wine cellar, and every evening from 4-6 you can have free wine tasting with Giovani. This guy knows his stuff and is a wonderful man. You must visit him. The ferry boat is directly across from the hotel with regular trips up and down the lake. Will we go back ? Yes for sure we will.

We arrived at the hotel after a very long drive and really appreciated the warm welcome from the reception. This high level of service combined with good knowledge and an engaging team continued at the restaurant. We had a room at the front with a lovely view to the lake and at dinner sat on the terrace which had a wonderful charm about it. It was incredibly relaxing to be there and had a very special ambience. The meal was lovely, the Chateaubriand steak perfectly cooked and all beautifully presented. This was our first visit to this special place and we now look forward to the next one when we will try to stay longer.

The entire visit was met with enthusiasm of the staff. Very clean and accommodating! Spent the weekend there with family and friends to celebrate my birthday! Prearranged a private late afternoon boat ride with “snacks” (Americans do not do snacks like the Italians !!) this was certainly a highlight that I will not forget! Breakfast was your traditional European breakfast - again staff was very nice and accommodating. Took the hotel boat taxi (sign up in advance - one negative is we were not told the pricing of the ride until check out - thought it was a gratuitous….doing the Lake taxi may have been cheaper and faster - FYI) to Cannobio for a day at the outdoor market where you can buy everything under the sun. I look forward to returning to this wonderful hotel and its quaint town.

This year I bought my third group to Hotel Cannero. The hotel is continually being upgraded and improved. Everything is impeccable. Breakfast was wonderful and plentiful as usual. The room, table settings, food and service were exceptional for our dinner. We all enjoyed singing along with the longtime piano player, Nunzio , in the quaint bar. With the addition of Park Hotel Italia ( and Spa), Restaurant Europa and the purchase of an antique tourist boat staying here offers so much. Out of the five hotels on my tour the guests unanimously chose Hotel Cannero as the best. Our three night stay is never long enough. Do not hesitate to stay here, now being expertly run by the 3rd,4th, and 5th generations. Kudos to Signore Maria Carla Gallinotto and her family for providing this truly exceptional hotel. Look forward to my fourth visit!

The hotel is right next to the ferry and very beautifully maintained. Our room had a great lake view, but was a little on the small side to be described as 'superior'. The lack of shower curtain was strange, making for some very wet bathroom floors. Breakfast was wonderful, especially the large pots of coffee. A complete must for me. Dinner was fine, but the very bright lights and soft mushy food, did make you feel it was more of an old people's home rather than a hotel.
