My husband and I stayed at this hotel during May. It was basic but absolutely spotless. The room was well equipped and we had great views from our room. The roof terrace was an ideal place to relax with a beer after a day's running on Etna. We visited Sicily so that we could run on mount Etna and the... More

The key tip I would give is that if you are using "Maps" to navigate to the hotel, make sure you input Hotel Federico, NOT Federico Hotel, as Maps will not recognise the hotel and will not be able to provide a route. Also it did not recognise the street name, so you need to navigate via the hotel name.... More

We stayed a week and the hotel was very good value. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel, and again thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The location is amazing at the top of a beautiful medieval town perched on a craggy hill, with stunning views of Mount Etna. The surrounding countryside and old towns and villages are... More

Having researched a lot of accommodation for our two week holiday in Sicily I ws a little apprehensive about my reservation for Hotel Federico II as at was considerably cheaper than anything else that I had booked! But now having experienced my stay I can only say what incredible value....in my opinion they could definitely be charging a higher rate.... More

I have not been at the hotel, I juxt used the restaurant, it is great, professional staff, good food and not expensive. They have a great touristic menu, cheap and rich with their specialties. I really enjoyed it.

Don't get me wrong, for the price the place blows any imagined b&bs out of the water. Modern decor, large rooms with fridge & aircon & fully appointed bathrooms. Its worth the drive up the mountain each time for the amazing view of etna and the boom she makes. The first male concierge helped us find the place (use piazza... More

Situated in the center of Castiglione. Nice, very clean big rooms. All you need, even some elegance. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Perfect for etna visits and wine tours. Good restaurant in the house and very nice enoteca round the corner. I'll come again

Booked in to stay at the Federico ll after searching online for somewhere away from the crowds. Our first time in Sicily, a part of Italy we didn't know at all. We relied on reviews from Tripadvisor, and the impression we got from the Hotel website and reply to our initial exploratory email which made the place seem so inviting.... More

Lovely modern hotel quality room in a historic building. Had fabulous meal in restaurant. Service was great. Asked for a few items off menu and they had no problem accommodating my requests. Breakfast is very good with freshly made cappuccinos etc. Would definitely go back.

Just spent a fabulous 3 nights at Hotel Federico. We're so glad we weren't tempted to stay in Taormina, we visited for the day which was plenty to see everything. Castiglione is a beautiful hill top town, full of character and beautiful buildings a much more relaxing & cheaper option than Taormina. Finding the hotel first of all was a... More

“Didn't see any other rooms but we understand that when restoring the building the owners chose to have fewer rooms (only nine) so they could make sure they were all of a good size. Our room, Room 11, had two balconies and possibly the best one from that respect. Next to reception but very quiet. There are a few steps from outside into the reception area, but apart from that access is easy.”
