Detailed Reviews
I stayed with the Walsh family for a week. I will definetly stay with them again. Kathleen and Michael were so kind and caring. It felt like I was coming home each evening. The fitness center was lovely, it's God's fitness center. The house is on the old Guinness estate and walks each day were beautiful. I couldn't have asked for better. The room was very clean and spacious. It was nice to open the window because the sheep and cattle were grazing about 10 feet away from the window. The location is far enough away to keep out of the hustle and bustle. It is a short drive to Cong and Ballinrobe and a numerous array of historical/tourist sites. Thank you so much for making my first visit in Ireland unforgetable.

Our stay at Inishfree House was lovely!! We were investigating some family connections in the area. Kathleen's gracious enthusiasm and support added so much to our search. We stayed for 5 nights and the time flew! Each day would begin with one of Kathleen's hearty, delicious breakfasts! We hope to return to enjoy the hospitality of Inishfree House and continue to explore beautiful Mayo!

Stayed with Kathleen and Michael in their beautiful Ashford estate house just a short walk to the castle. The house is part of the old Guinness estate and is a beautiful historic house. Kathleen and Michael were brilliant and looked aefter us with great care.

Our first night and we loved it, shared wine at the picnic table watching sunset while Kathleen and Michael's sheep and cows serenaded us. Amazing breakfast! Quiet room, great sleep and comfortable! <3

Friendly owner, nice room. We were very comfortable, had the best breakfast of our trip. Owner gave good advice on how to focus our time. Cong is a cute town and Ashford Castle is lovely. Connemara National Park is nearby and well worth the drive.

My husband and I spent a night at Inishfree House while touring Ireland. We found our hostess Kathleen to be very welcoming and eager to help us with anything we needed during our stay. We arrived late in the evening and she insisted on making us some tea or coffee with some treats!! Her breakfast was great. We also found out that her maiden name was the same as our surname even though we don't think she is related!!!! This is located very close to the popular Ashford Castle!!! Would stay there again if we were in the area.

Each time I go to Ireland, I stay at the Inishfree B&B, in Cong. Mr. Walsh is so kind and accomidating. He welcomes you and you immediately feel like family. If you want to see specific sites, he is always willing to help you find or get to where you are going. The B&B is always immaculate. It is far enough out of the big cities that it is relaxing but close enough to join in. There are a lot of historic sites in the area.
I am most excited about the new holiday home that will be coming up for rental. The Titanic Cottage is superb! Mr. John Flynn's family home that are Mr. Walsh's relatives. He has restored this cottage with modern conveniences but has maintained the historic structure.
If you want a relaxing time with plenty to do, then you must stay at the Inishfree B&B or Titanic Cottage.
Attached is a view from the upstairs window. Rock walls, green pasture, sheep and a rainbow...how much more Irish can you get?

Micheal and his daughter were amazing.
Wonderful family and the most beautiful place. Micheal drove in front of us to show us the back country lane to Ashford Castle. An amazing place. Beautiful and created by his wife who's passed, he's keeping her passion alive.

This is mostly what's excellent about B&Bs in Ireland.
Clean, comfortable, flexible, value for money and rural.
Located a short drive from Cong.
Very tasty home cooked breakfast with no problems getting extra coffee and toast.
If you're the type to stick your nose and sniff a pillow before being comfortable this is the place for you. Showers are spotless and well appointed with plenty of towels.
We were flaky during the week of arrival and went from 8 to 5 with little notice but Kathleen took it in her stride.
This seems to be a one person operation that is carried out seamlessly. Very professional and great value for money.

Rooms clean, bathrooms very small. All rooms up steep, narrow stairs.
Significant distance from Cong, so not just a stroll to sightseeing.
Good base for exploring the West of Ireland.
Be forewarned: when we were ready to check out, we were informed that no credit cards were accepted. The nearest cash machine was in Clonbur, 5.4 Km. away, so it took an extra half hour of our day to get cash to depart.
