Absolutely beautiful, the Castle itself the grounds and the food just fabulous, the staff are so friendly and very attentive. It was my birthday, 2 glasses of champagne, chocolates and a birthday card delivered to my room complimentary from the castle.❤️
My wife and i went for 2 nights to celebrate our fortieth wedding anniversary. Our son and daughter gave us a present of this and we were so looking forward to this as we had been to Ashford Castle about thirty six years ago for a company function. From the moment we entered the grounds the friendliness of the staff was incredible and the attention to detail was top class, our luggage taken in and our car parked for us. We were treated in a very professional and very relaxed manner. One didn't feel out of place as you were made feel so welcome. Everything was explained to us when we checked in and our luggage was brought to our room for us. The room was excellent with up to date control panels for controlling lighting and heating etc. It was fantastic that we could control the heating to our exact requirement which is of great benefit. On our first night we dined in the George V dining room and what a wonderful meal and experience we had. The ambience of the dining room, the exceptional friendliness of the staff whom we had a great banter with during our meal and we felt so relaxed and welcome. Wow, this was top class and the food was excellent, what an experience. Afterwards we relaxed in one of the bars and listened to some music. The breakfast next morning was excellent, the choice was incredible with such a big variety to choose from, this certainly was top class. We took a walk around the grounds to explore the estate and this was so relaxing to be able to do this without having to venture off somewhere else outside the estate. We were certainly not disappointed with our visit to Ashford Castle and also dined in the Dungeon on our second night which once again we enjoyed a top class meal. Ashford Castle certainly warrants a 5 Star rating from every point of view. I must once again reiterate the friendliness of the staff and the whole warm welcome from the time you enter the grounds to the time you leave . Fantastic experience, hopefully we will be back again. We were fully prepared for our long weekend at Ashford Castle to be amazing but we were completely taken by surprise at just how stunning this place is! Everything is perfect, from the staff that make you feel like family to the rooms, the service, the grounds, the facilities... all of it. Usually expensive hotels come with certain pretensions, but our stay felt like we were house guests of a ridiculously rich but down-to-earth cousin. I even wore my slippers down to breakfast; I might have had a dirty look from another guest, but the staff didn't bat an eyelid and didn't treat us any differently. We didn't go for the full 5* dining experience in the George V dining room, but had room service on the first night (perfect!) and ate at Cullens on the second night, which has a lovely relaxed vibe but excellent drinks and exceptional food (get the sofa seat by the fire!). We made the most of the spa (don't forget to book a time slot) and both enjoyed a very relaxing massage. We also booked a 1hr horse ride around the estate, which was beautiful. The trip was honestly absolutely faultless. If you want to forget about the world for a few days and feel like life is just beautiful then head to Ashford Castle. And don't forget to have the ham at breakfast!…
I can not fault this place, we stayed for 2 nights and had the most wonderful experience. Like all service sector businesses, the people make Ashford Castle what it is. The location, the castle, the town (Cong), everything was superb. Not a cheap place to visit, but for the experience, worth every penny! Having said that, I have stayed in other hotels that charge a lot more in their bar for drinks.... Save up and go, you will not be disappointed.
We had an amazing time at Ashford Castle, from the time you drive through the gates to checking out you are made to feel very special. Best customer service, very relaxed and friendly. Dinner in the George V is an experience... The staff are brilliant, best hotel in Ireland!
Myself and my wife stayed at Ashford Castle on 17-18th of January. It was the perfect break to shorten the month of January. I had bought vouchers for a stay as a 60th birthday present for a friend and suggested to his two sons to do the same as Christmas presents if they were stuck for ideas. I then booked us in for a midweek break. What a fabulous location. Fabulous walks. Fabulous food and drink and above all else fabulous service. For all the luxury, we felt the greatest asset this hotel has, is it’s staff. Every one of them, from the cleaning staff up to management. The genuine feeling of warmth went through every one we encountered. From the time you arrive at the outer gatekeeper and then met at the front door by the valet by name, you are totally disarmed by the charm. People are just so friendly yet professional. We loved them all, but a special mention for Davida the cinema manager who on hearing my wife liked popcorn, had some sent to both couple’s rooms on the second night. Tiny thing but a lovely bit of attention to detail. Rory and another local lady whose name escape me unfortunately, that served us breakfast and made excellent suggestions. You could just tell the pride they had in their local area and the Castle itself. We walked the dogs before breakfast with James their keeper. This was most enjoyable and we made three new friends in Mulligan (Irish Wolfhound), Dubh (A black Labrador) and an Irish Red and White Setter called Shay who, like all setters was more interested in running through the woods and only checked in occasionally. Having a Red Setter myself, I saw this as totally normal. It was a lovely two day break in which ourselves and our friends, totally relaxed and felt at home. The two girls had a lovely massage and spa afternoon while myself and my friend walked the woods down to the town of Cong and back, with the river in full flow bursting it’s banks in places. Crystal clear water for such a flooded stream. We returned to the castle and enjoyed a game of snooker in the wonderful billiard room. Dinner the first night in Cullen’s cottage and the second night in the George IV restaurant. Both were superb. The service in particular for the five course meal in the George IV was a lovely experience. All in all, I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the Castle. It is luxurious yet homely. A fine balance that I suggest cannot be faked. This is why I say the staff are the greatest asset. Their positivity and warmth is genuine. Eamonn & Ann.…
Even though January does not have the best of weather in Ireland, my husband and I booked our stay to coincide with our 40th wedding anniversary. The hotel, the service, the food, the atmosphere, the grounds, the amenities are all top-notch. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The hotel staff went over and above in their attempt to make everything perfect for us. Even during the rainy, cold month of January, the grounds and countryside were magnificent to see and we were certainly able to enjoy the many activities and spa treatments that the castle has to offer. We would most definitely return!
my wife and myself stayed in the castle what an amazing experience we both had . The castle has just got the wow factor and the grounds are stunning . also the staff were so help full and friendly we will definitely be back again
We stayed here for two nights during our honeymoon and there’s not enough great things I can say about them. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. The food is the best. The entire place is simply magical but what really makes Ashford the place to go to in Ireland, is the staff. The staff is superbly friendly and thoughtful. They will do anything for you. I recommend getting a spa treatment there. You will fall in love! I also recommend trying the wine tasting and go see a movie in their theatre one evening. Walk around and take in all the beauty and history. We plan on coming back for our 1 year anniversary.
What a blast! Thanks to incredible luck (and the help of key members of the Staff) we got to spend NYE & NYD 2023 at the Castle and it was FANTASTIC! There were surprises, a scavenger hunt, amazing food, and many new friends made all in a whirlwind 36 hrs! We learned a lot about the history of the Castle and grounds. We walked with the wolfhounds, had massages, played chess, danced with beautiful strangers and were generally dazzled by the famous Ashford hospitality. We’ve fingers crossed that we’ll make the invitation list again. We want to do this every year!
