Stayed here for 1 night for the wife's birthday and can honestly say that it was the best experience of hospitality ever. A lovely welcome and birthday card and cake from the team was most appreciated. Bedroom was lovely and very comfortable with fresh milk for tea and fridge with water for your convenience. Bar food was excellent as was the cocktails and breakfast again was 5 star and nice to have table service . Free courtesy bikes available to get around the castle estate which is stunning. But the most important thing is just how friendly all the staff are to everyone and that leaves a mark on most people. Will definitely return but for longer and can highly recommend this wonderful experience to all .

The Lodge at Ashford Castle is a beautiful property superbly maintained in the grounds of Ashford Castle.
Its offers a range of facilities including a fantastic new leisure centre, golf, cycling and access to the grounds of the castle. Dining options include casual & formal and in the event of having good weather, one can enjoy lunch and a drink on the outdoor terrace with stunning views to the lake and mountains below. We availed of both options and thoroughly enjoyed lunch on the terrace and dinner at the formal restaurant on the first floor.
With regards its bedrooms, there are a number of options to choose from, we were allocated a deluxe room on the ground floor. Whilst nicely appointed, it was small and had an internal view which negatively impacted our privacy.
Staff is excellent, friendly, helpful and professional.

My partner and I stayed here recently to celebrate my birthday and brought our 3 year old cavalier King Charles Bruno with us for the 3 night stay. The hotel decor is beautiful- we stayed in a duplex suite which has a modern contemporary style which we loved. The food and cocktails were divine - particularly the breakfast!!
It’s situated in a beautiful location looking over the water on the grounds of the castle and a short 10min walk into the beautiful town of Cong. We also availed of the new wellness centre Ealu right next door which is beautiful with pool, Hottub, sauna etc.
The huge plus to this hotel was allowing us to bring our dog with us on in this trip! A huge 5 stars from Bruno as the best dog friendly hotel we have stayed in so far. An area where he could dine with us so he didn’t have to be left in the room and even a doggie menu! 🐶 all the staff and other guests in the hotel were so friendly and welcoming to Bruno and he enjoyed many beautiful walks on the castle grounds and surrounding area of Cong.
Thank you to the lodge at Ashford castle for an amazing stay and memorable birthday - we will 100% be back!!

Our room (duplex) was designed by someone with no thought at all to comfort or practicality. Very poorly designed and not functional as a room for hotel guests. The work tables are too small to work on and one of them has no light by the table. Chests with tiny, non functional drawers. The bathroom has no shelves to store your toiletries. The bathroom door is right next to the bed, it’s opaque, and when you turn on the light for the bathroom it lights up so brightly and shines light through the door right onto your partner still trying to sleep in the bed. The air conditioner vent is right over the bed. The radiator is located right under the window so if you close the curtains at night you are closing them over the radiator, blocking the heat. The doors to the terrace don’t lock, so anyone can enter from outside. There were six large useless chairs in the suite taking up a lot of room. The staff is young, inexperienced, and as helpful as they "have to be". They'll say and do what they must to get the interaction over with and be done with you. I did see or speak with anyone who seems to be a manager or supervisor during my 3 nights there. They also seem to be going cheap on amenities, the toilet paper and tissues and shampoo etc. were all cheap and low quality. The grounds are beautiful but other than that, a disappointing experience.

Our family group stayed in a suite and superior deluxe room b/b with dinner in the hotel’s Wilde Restaurant. Nice hotel, not plush but clean, decent size rooms and comfortable beds. Check in was efficient and friendly, though the mulled wine and mince pies being offered to other guests was not offered to us. Access to Ealu swimming pool and leisure facilities was a great bonus and we really enjoyed walking in the lovely estate grounds. When booking The Lodge a few days before, we had been told that the only available dinner slot in the Wilde restaurant was 9pm. What we were not told was that we would be seated in isolation from other diners, at the end of a passageway linking the two dining rooms. It took two requests before we were moved (by way of curt direction: ”follow me”!) to one of the two dining rooms. All a bit awkward and not the best start to our evening. But the food was good and we were determined to enjoy our evening. As our hotel booking included dinner, our bill was just €100 for additional supplements and drinks. We left €150 cash to include tip in the bill folder and departed the then empty dining room. As we were in the lift about to go downstairs, a waitress standing with other staff members at the nearby restaurant desk loudly called after us to “settle up” our bill. I was taken aback but before the lift doors closed, managed to relate to her that we had in fact paid. I don’t understand why the waitress found it necessary to issue this challenge to us. For one thing, our restaurant reservation was booked by hotel reception and we were therefore clearly dining as hotel guests with identifiable room numbers: if there was an issue with non payment, it could be remedied on checkout. By contrast, our experience for dinner at Cullens Cottage the next evening was markedly different. Although similarly priced, it was far superior particularly in terms of service. The warm welcome and friendly service we received was greatly appreciated after our somewhat shabby treatment by The Lodge’s Wilde restaurant staff. All in all The Lodge represents budget friendly accommodation for access to Ashford Castle Estate and its leisure facilities but for us it was marred by our experience at the restaurant.

I am pleased that you thought The Lodge was a nice hotel, clean with decent size rooms and comfortable beds and that you enjoyed our newly opened Ealu Leisure Centre. I positively could not recommend The Lodge.
From check in, to climbing a narrow stairs with luggage, to be met with the most grotesque room, bright red carpets, stripped red curtains, very distasteful red plastic looking bed.
A small bathroom, shower in bath, face cloths and towels of very poor quality, hard on the skin.
Breakfast was a fiasco, tea came way before anything else, toast arrived on a large breakfast plate, I had eggs and bacon, they were very minimal. Very nice young men serving but different guys kept serving.
We went down to the castle to meet friends for a glass of wine, we were not allowed in, the concierge said The Lodge residents were not allowed into the castle for drinks, the complimentary car driver said we were but we should have rang them first.
As you are advertising under the umbrella of Ashford Castle, I would have expected a 4x experience with tasteful decor and quality service. (As advertised)
This was our first and last time to stay with you at The Lodge.
We have stayed many times at the Castle and have bought many vouchers over the years for our friends.
Extremely disappointed on every level. Shame but we are lucky to have alot of excellent hotels more worthy of our business.

Nice entrance on arrival. Lovely view from bedroom. Room clean. Nice hot shower. Dinner atmosphere poor, no music in background. The side of chips with meal for 2 of us didn’t arrive until we asked for them and only came when finished meal. Starter scallops lovely, Dessert ok. No wine cooler with white wine. Only one side of vegetable. Bottle of still water €7. Went to bar to be told only 12 people allowed in a room off the bar. No Saturday night music, no background music. Didn’t give any vibe that they wanted to sell any drinks at the bar or wanted us there. Requested taxi/bus into local village, they had to charge the car and could bring us in to village but no one would be able to collect us. 20 minute walk back as per google maps. Music in the local village was great. Breakfast was nice, sourdough bread was hard for eggs Benedict. overpriced stay for one night. Sneaky service charge of €10 on bill checking out along with a charity charge which can be opted out of. Wouldn’t be recommending it as word of mouth for the price of it. Nice stay with friends.

Dear Fairreview1 Thank you for your review, I am disappointed to hear you found the restaurant lacking atmosphere. we normally receive great comments on the style and decor of Wilde's from our guests. however I am grateful for your feedback and I will investigate the issues with service you have made us aware of and ensure we learn from this. I am glad you enjoyed your night in the village, we are working on our entertainment calendar for 2024 which will begin very soon, the quay bar is made up of small characterful rooms however our team should have found a suitable place for you to enjoy the evening as a group. Thank you once again for your comments, if you wish to discuss it with me directly I would be delighted to hear from you and I look forward to welcoming you back. Warm Regards. Peter

We stayed here for one night and I have to say our room was nothing like what is shown. It was just a room with a small table and two chairs and a comfortable bed along with a TV and the usual ho hum amenities along with a kettle and instant coffee. Bathroom was fine and more modern with a walk in shower. We had dinner here and since we were travelling with a group we put shunted off into a large room - it was like sitting at a conference table. Not at all conducive to a nice dining experience let alone being able to chat with people. Food was just OK - I had the beef shortribs - they were terrible - very fatty. The Lodge is located on the grounds of the Ashford Castle - magnificent gardens and grounds to enjoy. Staff was pleasant.

Staff very welcoming at check in. Shown to our room. We had booked a suite. It was absolutely awful. Bright red carpet, bright red plastic bed and mirrored furniture. It looked like a pornstars boudoir 😂 or as a previous review stated a playboy room. The shower was over the bath not a separate shower, we do not expect a combined bath/shower for a good hotel.
We asked to be moved to another room, this took quite a while, the staff member suggested we buy a drink at the bar while we waited, we would have thought a complimentary drink would have been offered. Eventually we were upgraded to a beautiful room.
Breakfast each day was really lovely and the staff at breakfast were excellent.
We ordered an €18 sandwich via room service one wet afternoon, this was inedible, so soggy and we were shocked to see an additional €7.50 service charge added to our final bill for a girl to bring this sandwich to our room.
The room service tray remained in our room for over 24 hours, then was left on the floor outside our room for a while, not pleasant seeing this.
On checking out, we asked for the €20 charge -staff tip amount to be removed. We don’t think this should be added on to everyone’s accounts. We tip staff as we go along.
The grounds to the lodge and the castle are stunning and we enjoyed walks in both.

Dear Karen, Thank you for your review. I am disappointed to hear that the first suite was not to your liking but glad that we were able to find a suite that suited you. I will take your other comments on board and will discuss with our Management Team. In relation to tips, in the past year we have reviewed the tip policies in the hotel through consultation with management and with our teams and have introduced the discretionary room charge. The discretionary room charge is for the rooms department team members who used to get cash tips left in the rooms which they have generally seen disappear to a minimum. This now gives the teams a digital method to receive tips and for them to distribute in a fair and transparent fashion. The system is working for both the team and guests, as we are receiving a very positive response from our guests overall and we do point out it is discretionary. We are happy to remove or change as the guest requests. The discretionary room charge is on our confirmation letters informing of the policy introduction. It is at the complete discretion of the guest. We do hope to welcome you back to The Lodge at Ashford Castle very soon. If you decide to return, please do contact me directly in advance of your booking as I would personally like to ensure that you will have a wonderful stay. Warm regards, Peter Fergus.

Terrible the hotel never bothered replying to your question.
No but maybe if you go for afternoon tea you will be welcomed with open arms 😊
You can walk the gardens we always do & they are lovely but before going to the sale gates on your right just up the hill towards THE LODGE there is a super walk
No there is no pool at the Lodge but the grounds to Ashford are extensive with scope for cycling, walking etc.
