Strayed here as was the half way point on the slowboat to Luang Prabang. Arrived later than expected as there was a delay in immigration so was dark when we turned up. The owner didn't have a record of our booking previously made the night before but he took our reference number and gave us a key to a twin...

Nothing fancy but way better than expected. They own the bakery next door which provided excellent snacks and iced coffees for the boat. 100k for an ac room even though we didn't even need it. Bit cooler than the rest of laos. FYI theres and elephant sanctuary across the river so we got to see a couple roaming around while...

We have been at this guesthouse for one night. Good location, clean, hot water, confortable bed, bakery across the street for a good breakfast. Fast check in and check out. The owner is helpfull and honest. We forgot a luggage in the room and he send it to us by the next boat. Thanks to him.

In a town with limited choices, we trusted the reviews and prebooked here for our slowboat pit stop. It's great if you are used to hostels, not so much if you're used to hotels. The good: it was convenient to prebook online. Could be improved: the next door neighbors were having a raging karaoke drunk fest screaming at the top...

Not a lot of choice at Pakbeng we were quite worried when we arrived and saw the room, the owner was very grumpy but was actually very pleasant the next morning. The shower worked and bed and pillows quite comfortable. There is a good Indian restaurant in the town and they speak very good English. There is a bakery opposite...

We arrived without a booking and were given a room on arrival. I actually think we might have been the only people staying here as it seemed to be one of the most expensive guesthouses in Pakbeng. The room was a decent size, relatively clean and comfortable. It was in a good location - close to the few bars and...

Cheapest place we found during our brief search for accommodation. A few little bugs in the room and an ice cold shower (which wasn't pleasant, don't underestimate the chill in Pakbeng of a morning). But the room was okay, and we had power all night. It's on the main road, too.

We stayed here for one night in the middle of a two day river boat ride up the Mekong from Luang Prabang. Guesthouse was a 3-5 minute walk up the hill from the slow boat quay on the only road through town. We hadn't booked in advance and they had rooms available for 130k fan (if you haggle!) and 150k...

You can't expect a great deal from Pak Beng. But this guest house was clean and comfortable. Hot showers, wifi, inexpensive. There is both a fan as well as aircon. You really cannot go wrong with this place. Don't need to book a room at Houai Xai. Plenty of guest houses in Pak Beng.

Pak Being is quite drab and little more than a staging post between slow boat trips on Mekong. Stayed one night in downstairs room - clean and functional with good hot water and blankets on the firm bed - note it gets quite cold at night in late December. Paid 100,000 KIP. Only problem was leaving very early - up...
