Nestled in an atmosphere brimming with energy, Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach is a hub of nightly entertainment, from karaoke to spirited pool parties, although the music may not suit everyone's tastes. The rooms, considered standard for size and cleanliness, have drawn some criticism for being dated and occasionally noisy. Guests commend the resort's overall cleanliness and meticulous grounds, yet some suggest there's room for improvement.
Despite the satisfactory amenities, including picturesque grounds and pools, the value proposition is questioned due to extra costs and aggressive sales tactics. Service quality appears to be a mixed bag, receiving both accolades for staff attentiveness and critiques for inconsistency.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
This was our first time staying at Iberostar, and we will definitely be back. Other resorts that we have stayed at in the last 3 years include Grand Sirenis and Ocean Riviera.
What we loved:
- The huge pool with many lounge chairs.
- The variety of activities!! There was always something to do. We took full advantage of the many activities put on by the amazing Entertainment Team and the night shows. Shout out to JP, Oscar, Daniel, Nerada and Juliana (and any others I have forgotten). You are amazing!!
- The app. A lot of people complained about the app in the reviews, but we thought it was amazing. The map was very valuable during the first couple days of learning our way around the resort. The activities calendar was perfect. And we could reserve our a la carte dinners on the app!!! OMG. Life changing. Huge kudos to the app developers.
- The shopping mall was awesome - we visited the coffee shop every day, the ice cream shop and the hamburger and taco restaurants were also great when we needed a break from the buffet.
- We never did make it to the gym because we were busy with other activities, but it looked amazing and the number of classes being offered was quite extensive.
- The beach was very nice.
- The patio/balcony in the room was nice and spacious, and covered. Great for sitting and relaxing for a bit.
- I love, love, love the water filters on each floor. Environmentally, this is huge. Our floor had one that was motion sensored, and it did not work. But the one on the other floor had a button. I loved being able to fill my water bottle as often as I wanted, and not searching for water.
- I love the small environmentally friendly aspects - soap, lotion, shampoo, etc, all in big bottles.
- The service was great everywhere. Everyone that we interacted with was extremely friendly.
What we liked/could use improvement:
- The rooms were good; basic but just fine. As mentioned by others, there were only 3 plugs, so do bring a power box or something that allows you to charge more than one device in one plug (if you have a lot of devices).
- The food was okay. I am not a big eater, so I don't really care - but my daughter was a little disappointed with the buffet. The one thing we would definitely like to see more is guacamole. For some reason we only found guacamole at breakfast. It would have been nice at lunch time and dinner.
- We were in block 39 and it was loud with the night-time entertainment until 11pm. If you have young kids, or like to go to bed early, try to get a room further from the Theaters. Luckily the loud music always ended by 11, so it was manageable, but I feel like they could turn it down a touch...
Needless to say, we will be back. We definitely recommend this resort, and if you want a slightly more upscale experience, try the Lindu, which is one price-point up from Paraiso Beach. The Del Mar is one price point lower, but I don't know if there are any significant differences between the Del Mar and the Beach.

Our family was fortunate to visit this beautiful beach resort over Christmas break! We especially enjoyed the manicured grounds, beach and pools in a jungle setting! It is fun to watch the wildlife - peacocks, swans, ducks, turtles, etc. They have a lot of comfy chairs and huts on the beach along with scheduled activities. Lots of activities around the beautiful large pool tool. The weather was absolutely perfect to enjoy all amenities. Warm enough to swim but not swelter. The rooms are a “normal” size, not overly spacious but comfortable with a balcony. The maid service kept it nice, clean and tidy. There is a filtered water machine on each floor of each building. Water bottles are supplied. The food is abundant but not always the best. Book the specialty restaurants in advance of your trip as the reservations do fill up. The reservations were full for one we wanted to go to. We showed up anyway and were able to fill a cancellation. The conssierre (sp) is always available to help you. Also enjoyed the property owned mall for shopping, ice cream, coffee, crepes and tacos all food included in the no all-inclusive. Be ready to tip frequently - doesn’t have to be a lot. The nightly entertainment was pretty hokey but that wasn’t why we were there. The resort is at a great location for other excursions. Jet skis, para sailing, kayaks are available on the beach a short walk away. You can book snorkeling and diving trips there as well. Lots to do, beautiful location! All ages!

The service was amazing!! We were a group of 16 (8 couples). Some stayed in the superior rooms, some in the prestige. Service at check in was amazing. Quick and efficient with drink service while we were checking in. Stephanie the concierge was awesome and efficient at getting our group booked for a la carte dinners, which we didn’t think possible with our group size. Food at the Buffet was excellent and house wine was fine. Didn’t need to order a $ wine. Beach bar service was excellent with the bartender racing to another bar on the resort to get my choice of alcohol and keeping it stocked all week. Service in the lobby bar from Gabby and Rosie was excellent and fast. We didn’t need to wait long at all. There are golf carts constantly running to take you anywhere on the resort or to a neighbouring one. Lots of space on the beach and though you would have to search for a chair, you could always find one. Lots to do and the rooms were very comfortably appointed. The mattress could’ve been better in the superior rooms. I like that they are eco friendly with no straws, no disposable plastic cups and large refillable water bottles (glass) in the room and refillable bathroom products. No need to bring shampoo/conditioner/body wash. Wifi throughout the resort and beach area. Never had an issue with service. Only complaint would be that when it was time to leave there were no smiles or thank you for staying with us from the front desk. I would definitely return to this resort

The best parts about Iberostar Paraiso Beach were the staff, especially the Star Friends entertainment staff who work hard to make sure everyone enjoys themselves - if you don't find yourself smiling & having fun, it is your own fault. The grounds of the resort are well maintained and there is lots of wildlife to be seen (peacocks, coati, etc). The pool and facilities were great. Buffet restaurants were never too busy or difficult to get a seat (except by the beach/pool at lunchtime).
We stayed in a junior suite near the pool and beach with our two teenage daughters. The room was as expected based on reviews and this is one reason why I gave the resort 3 stars. In serious need of updating. There was very limited storage for clothing and belongings. Would be much better with queen size beds (we had a cot delivered to limit sibling fights) and comfortable seating areas for relaxing. Bathroom is small and without storage. There were a total of 4 available plugs (not outlets) in the entire suite to charge our many devices. Lighting could be better also. There were short, but not infrequent, power outages for some reason. The expandable drying rack for swimsuits on the balcony is a nice touch. Calling front desk or housekeeping for needed supplies (blanket, etc) often required multiple attempts. Because of the orientation of the resort, you do not see the beach/ocean unless you make the effort to go out onto the beach. There was some seaweed present while we were there; we spent most of our time happily at the pool. Recommend going out early to "reserve" chairs - which everyone does even though it says it is not allowed.
Food was as expected - not great, not bad. For some reason we were not able to make reservations at the a la carte restaurants before arriving and then they told us everything was booked for the week when we checked in, so that led to some frustration. Aside from the Japanese restaurant, which we managed to get into after much effort & waiting, I don't think the others were worth the hassle.
Another complaint was the Iberostar staff constantly trying to sell us on a membership or upgrades/extras. Not a surprise, but was very annoying as we wanted to focus on enjoying our vacation. Any question about an activity, etc led to an invite to come to a "free breakfast" or meeting. No thank you. For this reason alone, I would hesitate to return.

This was my third trip to Mexico and we decided to stay at IPB for 8 days based on the recent reviews. I will start with the positives; the staff was extremely friendly and helpful (best highlight). The food at the restaurants was definitely better than the buffet. Our favorites were the French and Mexican ones. The resort was kept clean and there were always someone to answer your questions and point you in the right direction. Try the taco shop in the mall, had really good food. Now for not-so positives; the remote for TV was broken and was replaced after 6 days after asking so many times. Our other family asked for a 2nd blanket and was provided after 6 days as well. The coffee maker in the in-laws room was broken and was replaced after asking for it 3 times. The wall outlets in the rooms do not charge properly. something to do with the current coming in the room, this seemed be a common issue in all our bedrooms. The cleaning ladies (who do hard work every day) were very loud starting at 6am, the sliding doors in the room next to us were opened and closed with loud bangs every day. We all wanted to sleep in on days, after all it is a vacation. I do not like giving any negative reviews but there are some areas of improvement the management should look at. Overall, its a passing grade. We do thank the staff for helping us out.

After reviewing all of our options for the Mayan Riveria we decided on the Paraiso Beach resort based on reviews from other travelers. Before we arrived we sent three different emails to the reservation desk confirming our booking but when we arrived we were told that that there were no 2 bedroom family rooms left at the Beach resort and we were being put in the del Mar resort. Do not let anyone tell you that they are the same, they are not! They may share the same pool and restaurants but the location of the del Mar is much farther from the rest of the area amenities and we were essentially right on a service road where loud trucks and shuttles were running constantly. No apologies and no effort to move us was made. We compared the prices before we booked and del Mar was definitely cheaper but we got moved there with no discount and no other options. We got ripped off, no other way to put it. Very disappointing.
We loved the staff and the property but we did not appreciate at all where we ended up and it was not what we paid for when we booked. We'd have a hard time recommending this chain of resorts just for this reason.

Food is mediocre at best, lacks seasoning and was often bland. Food signs were often in the wrong place so you were not sure what you were eating. We stayed 4 nights and were only allowed 2 reservations unless we wanted to pay an additional $20 per person.
They use the smallest amounts of alcohols in their drinks and there is no consistency. Every drink I had tasted different.
The property map was confusing and the signs on the property were not helpful. The concierge did not explain some of the restaurants are located over at the Del Mar location. Also, there is an Iberostar app that tells you about the property, such as the activities calendar. No one told us about it, we stumbled upon trying to see if we could request towels through it because initially, no one answered the phone in Housekeeping when we called.
Shuttles are few and far between, especially at night. The property is poorly lit.
Staff was hit or miss, some were friendly and helpful, others would completely ignore you. Fatima in the La Plaza buffet was the nicest staff member I encountered. We called the Concierge desk a couple of times during our stay and no one ever answered the phone.
Pool and beach were the best part, except for you can’t get new towels at the beach, you can only exchange towels.
Signs state face masks were mandatory but clearly, the policy was not being enforced. It is probably for the best they make masks optional.
We went to sign up for COVID testing and we needed our passports, which were in our room. The staff member was going to lunch and told us to come back with them and someone else could help us. We come back with the passports and another staff member tells us it is too late to take the COVID test because it takes 24 hours to get the results. I was confused by this because the US requires the test to be done no more than 1 day prior to your departure. Subsequently, we had the tests done and got our results in less than 5 minutes.
We won’t be back nor would I recommend this resort to my family or friends.

13 of us stayed at the Pariso Beach for a week. Everyone had a great time. The food was excellent, the rooms were very clean and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The pool and beach were within a short walking distance (2-5 minutes) from the bungalows and the trams were readilly aviailable for a quick trip to the lobby or restaurants. Glad we brought our own cups (turvis/yettis) for drinks and LOVED that the resort does not use straws, napkins or single use cups at the pool and beach. We all agreed that we would love to stay there again.

We went with our two kids (3.5yrs and 2 yrs) and in-laws. It was a great trip. We had two jr suites. The suites were extremely close to the beach and the pools. The staff was very friendly. Reka (concierge) was very helpful and Daniela (booking for pvt dinner) was very helpful. She set up the private dinner on the beach for us and the experience was second to none. The beach was very clean and it was always easy to find sun bed under the shade no matter what time we got to the beach. The buffets were great. A La Cartes were OK, the French restaurant El Colonial was the best. We did a la carte for Mexican, French and Italian. The other restaurants were avg, Made us wish we had just done buffet.
Special shout out to Jorde and Roberto at the Plaza buffet. They were very attentive to our party of 6 and made sure we had everything we needed. We were travelling with a person with Nut allergy and they informed us of all the items that had nuts and made sure we knew what to avoid.
You see a number of wildlife animals at the resort. we saw peacocks, lemus, macaws, swans, black swan, number of turtles and Flamingos (At DelMar).
Room service was also excellent. They swept and moped our floors everyday. the room was very clean and they never took any money lying around even their tip, we had to chase them down to give them a tip.

I will be starting with the staff members that made the trip that much more amazing. Axel with the star friends made all the activities he did more entertaining, he also took the time to talk to you and get to know you a bit. Yodis with the star friends did a fantastic job at the salsa lessons that he taught, and at the shows he was always so positive and energetic. Kimberly with the star friends always had a smile on her face and just spread positivity. Loli with the star friends made you feel so welcome and you knew you were going to enjoy the activity if she was running it. Enrique with the star friends was always trying to get to you and would always greet you when he saw you around the resort. Leslie and Giovanni with the star friends were so kind and always were smiling. Ausel at the towel bar always greeted you with a smile and took the time to learn your name, it made you want to go back to the towel bar. Adrianna with the fitness group ran fantastic, fun and energetic Zumba classes on the beach, I would highly recommend it. The restaurants had amazing food, but not for picky eaters, all the waiters I came in contact with were extremely nice but almost every meal felt as if you were getting rushed through. The buffets has a good range of food, pretty basic though so good for families with picky eaters. The shows were extremely cheesy especially the pre-shows to in all honesty it made it more entertaining to watch. And at the bar in the Beach theatre Hugo (I believe was his name) and Santiago were both amazing bartenders. Hugo would remember your regular order when you came up, pat on the back to him.

I’m not aware of any room called Pure Wellness. When we booked it was not an option. We found the regular rooms to be just fine.
I am not sure. We did not see any at this resort, they may have been at one of the other connected resorts. They do allow some to walk around the beach area. We purchased from a few of them.
I have to imagine there is. I know there was a very large fitness area and I remember seeing tennis courts. Unfortunately I don't remember basketball courts.
However, with that said there is so much to do on the property you teenager's won't be bored.
We booked a ride through the Cancun airport web site and they were great.
Currently at resort and we have cards for room and wrist band for access to amenities
