Detailed Reviews
The newly refurbished Mykonos Theoxenia hotel is wonderful! The staff were all so lovely, especially Velislava on the front-desk and the porter Yannis. The hotel has been lovingly restored, preserving the character of the original (protected) building while modernising the facilities. The swimming pool is great, with the most comfortable poolside loungers we have ever laid on. It was also pretty quiet during our stay and we had the pick of the pool loungers.
The hotel's proximity to the town is perfect, while still giving you peace and quiet when you want to relax at the end of a day. We'd booked a cozy room since we were only staying three nights but were surprised at how spacious the room was, with a lounge area divided from the bedroom and an outdoor space with a table and chairs. The included breakfast buffet was delicious and provided a wide variety of choices. The hotel staff were really attentive and made us feel they genuinely cared about their guests. It was my fiance's birthday during our stay and they delivered a lovely chocolate cake to our room on the day. Taxis are hard to come by on Mykonos but the hotel works with a private car firm that can take you wherever you need. We will definitely be back!

5 star hotel with a 5 star experience! Was greeted and treated like family from our host Christos from the time we walked in. The hotel is close to all the action with exceptional views of the water, town and windmills. Breakfast was the best we had in Greece with authentic local cuisine and unique offerings. Complimentary transfers to and from the hotel to the port or airport. Guest services was great with Despina giving us some fantastic recommendations and booking for us what we need. Upon leaving the whole staff sent us off and thanked us for our stay. Worth the price, worth the stay!

The hotel is situated within minutes of Mykonos town which is fantastic - saves a lot of money on taxis!
The room was very nice, we had a balcony with a sea view. The room sadly wasn’t spotless - we had marks on our sheets, hairs on the floor and a dirty glass in the bathroom. However it was passable!
The pool was lovely and well maintained. The service around the pool was good and we were given complimentary bottled water with ice each time. The staff are very accommodating!
Breakfast was okay but certainly could be improved. There was a nice selection of juices and Greek yoghurt, however the pastries weren’t very inspiring! They also have hot dishes pre prepared - we tried a few but by the point of eating they are overcooked and dry. You can request fresh eggs etc but this isn’t made clear by the staff and we only worked this out from seeing someone else order. A menu would be handy!
The gym was poor - for a luxury hotel it isn’t really good enough. It is a tiny room and the air con is never turned on. The fridge didn’t have any waters etc.
Finally upon checkout we were able to use the showers by the spa. This was great but sadly the floor was flooded and there was hair everywhere! These facilities could do with an upgrade.
Overall a very pleasant stay and would recommend to anyone visiting Mykonos. There is room for improvement though!

We stayed here for the second part of our honeymoon after staying for a week in Fira, Santorini, and ferrying across. When we arrived we found it to be more dated than it appears in the photos but once you go outside by the pool area it is very nice. The manager came over for a chat as we arrived, which was nice and informative.
We were showed to our room, which was lovely, but for the price we paid we expected a whole lot more.
Great location, right next to the windmills and a 1 minute walk down the hill you’re in Little Venice.
We were the only British people in this hotel, which we found unusual but it was nice.
One thing we really didn’t like is that children/babies are allowed in the hotel. For three days there was a family with 2 children under 3, who were screaming and crying in and around the pool. It wasn’t exactly what we were expecting from such an expensive, supposedly relaxing hotel.
Breakfast was ok. I have allergies and had pointed this out but at no point did anyone offer to assist me with what I could/couldn’t eat, so I just opted for fruit & yoghurt daily. This was yummy.
We both had massages, these were fab but so expensive!
What really annoyed me, was that our flight had been changed (which we informed them of before arriving) so we weren’t flying until 9pm. We discussed late check out from day one of arriving and were continuously told they would sort something for us on the day. Final day and we went down to reception 3 times to finally be told they couldn’t help us and we needed to check out by 1pm, 1 hour after normal check out. Whilst we were shown to the spa showers, to get dressed etc before flying, there was no ac down there, which meant we were worse off after showering than before. We also were left to sort our suitcases in the hotel reception, annoying. There are so many rooms at this hotel, most of which were empty whilst we stayed, so I don’t for one minute believe they couldn’t accommodate us anywhere.
Cats were really friendly and loved a fuss!
Some of the conversations we overheard from other guests really made us question who we were surrounded by. Talking about the “calibre of people” they found in Lio. Unfortunately, the place seemed full of pretentious people who loved to brag about/ spend money.
Reading other reviews about amazing staff, feeling like family etc… I can’t relate. Staff were lovely but didn’t by any means go above and beyond.
If you’re looking for a good location, with a pool, this is the hotel for you. But if you’re after that something extra, somewhere special and relaxing, I’d look elsewhere, as this is not worth the money you spend.
It’s worth noting, we stayed in a sea view classic room, the “bog standard” room, for 6 days and it cost us €5000.

Excellent place. The luxation is perfect between the sea and the old town. Newly refurbished pool with beautiful grey tiles. A lot of seating areas. Rooms are comfortable and if you take a sea view room you won’t be disappointed. Amazing sunset views everyday. The old town is 5 min walk making it a perfect location. There is a small beach at the back accessible by foot in less than 5 min. The staff is over the top, extremely professional and friendly. Perfect stay from start to finish.

We stayed at this property in Mykonos by booking a room from the hotel website. We booked a room with a sea view but found ourselves in a room with a view of the trees, yes the trees of the pool. We made the necessary representations to the reception but they insisted on the fact that the photos posted on the site were sample photos and did not correspond to the real room. I insisted in saying that the room booked had to have a sea view and not a view of the trees which, among other things, covered almost the entire view of the sea. From sitting on the terrace you couldn't even see the shadow of the sea. At this point a lady came out and arrogantly introduced herself as the manager. She repeated to me the same things that the other ladies at the reception had said, even raising her voice and telling me that the next day, if I wanted and paid, they would give me a room facing the sea. To which I repeat that I had booked that room and that the problem was theirs, not mine, but all this was of no avail. At this point I left intending to give a negative review. A 5 star hotel must have a manager and front desk who can handle a little thing like this. The manager, always with her nice arrogant manner, also dismissed me, telling me that if we wanted to leave the facility she would reimburse us. Aside from the arrogance of this department the remaining staff were very friendly and helpful. The property is in an excellent location but the rooms are not up to par. Washbasin in bedroom and blind bathroom. TV small and in an awkward position.

First class hotel. All the staff (and manager) were kind and helpful making sure we had a wonderful stay over our five nights at this hotel in Mykonos. We stayed in a Double Classic Sea View room. The beds were extremely comfortable, the shower room, toilet and basins spotlessly clean. There was always plenty of hot water. All the towels were changed twice daily. The private balcony afforded us privacy and the most beautiful view of the glorious sunset across the sea.
The breakfast selection was varied with plenty to offer. Scrambled eggs were cooked to order. Coffee was excellent and fresh.
This hotel is situated in a perfect location - just behind the windmills in Mykonos. Going out in the evening was perfect as the town was a very brief walk (5 minutes) down the hill.

I stayed there one night in the middle of august. The staff is very helpful, professional and caring. The structure is now protected by unesco. It is a very peculiar building from the 60/70. You can see that the renovation had to stick to certain criteria so even the superior rooms are small which is ok as the hotel was build in this way. What I disliked is the approximation of the works as it looks as it was done in a rush. Greek law now wants strong security light in front of the doors. So if you have problems with light while sleeping bring a mask. I was charged 16 euros for two waters 330 ml each. Nearly 700 euros for a superior room. Going to the airport and coming in is complimentary. The garden is amazing and breakfast too. Overall I would repeat the experience in low season or just for 1 night if you really need to stay in the center in high season. The sea under the hotel is beautiful.

Loved this hotel. The staff is genuinely very nice. They took a lot of time to make sure we were happy during our stay. The view from the room of the Aegean See was great. We ate breakfast and dinner here, with beautiful views of the water. The food was very good. The location is ideal because it is at the edge of old town, near the windmills, and only a few minute walk to downtown. Will definitely return sometime.

Gloucestershire, United Kingdom87 contributions72 helpful votesHello, we are very excited for our stay at the end of the month. Could you help me with a couple of questions please: firstly, are we given pool towels to use during our stay? Second question, is there music played round the pool during the day? Thanks and I’m looking forward to hearing back from you. Regards, Amy
Hi! Yes, of course, there are pool towels given at the pool and there are plenty of them. And there is a nice lounge-type music around the pool, not too loud. Enjoy your holidays!
