We had room 122 in the lower part of the hotel with sea views slightly obscured by greenery. These rooms had a private patio although right next to neighbours and so not for those wanting complete privacy. The room was really bright with patio doors onto the terrace and beautiful views to wake up to. The bathroom is very modern with a great rain style shower. Toiletries were provided (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, dental set, soap and shower cap) but not restocked in our 3 night stay but if we'd asked for more I'm sure we would have been given them. There is a safe in the room (no charge) and a hairdryer. Also nice to see a freestanding makeup mirror which I never see but very useful to move into the natural light. The room was spacious with a large comfortable bed, a sofa and a desk area. We also were given two large bottles of water on arrival.
Breakfast was reasonable and was made up of cereals, yoghurt, dried, tinned and fresh fruit, breads, cakes, English and continental options plus a few Greek specialities. The views from breakfast are stunning.
The hotel pool is a highlight. The water temperature is just perfect. I've been in some very cold pools before but this was warm enough to get in but cool enough to feel refreshing. Really nicely done with stunning views and a nice cocktail bar and fabulous sunsets. No beach/pool towels provided and so bring your own. The hotel has amazing views from reception which is where you'll also find the hotel bar. It was very quiet when we were there but a beautiful spot for sunset drinks, just slightly missing an atmosphere at the moment.
The staff are so lovely and picked us up from the airport and dropped us off at the port. They made some great recommendations of things to see and places to eat and were generally helpful all round.
I'd definitely recommend this hotel to those who are more mobile and fit as there are a few steps around the property and unless you hire a vehicle or are happy to get a taxi all the time, the steps up and down to town could be a struggle. We loved it and those views are just beautiful!
That being said the pluses out weight the minuses thus four stars, but the hotels walls are thin noises and people were heard we stayed in a double with extra bed, and it was below the pool chairs so could hear them scratching while moving during most the day and early evening. Our balcony had no view due to a tree and shrubs and it was much better from other angles, could of paid less and just stayed at the pool when wanting views of the town. The room is key controlled (common in all of our destinations) so ask for two so you can keep a cool room while outside of it. And there’s no outside food or drink by the pool so expect to pay bar prices for drinks instead of much cheaper in your room and a local market. We would return again but would make sure the room was in a different situation while paying for the upgrade. COVID Compliant and clean.
The problem is, I have the travel ambition and need to explore the world.
This was my 4th trip to Mykonos. I decided to book Alkyon as it seemed to tick all the boxes and I have to say, I was not disappointed.
The hotel are taking extra care during COVID-19 you can see they want to make sure guests feel as safe and secure as possible and I certainly did!
The pool is cleaned and disinfected after someone leaves.
The staff are incredible, so kind and personable. Always smiling and taking time to speak to you.
The pool area is so peaceful, with beautiful scenic views and the rooms are cleaned daily and we had a wonderful sea view terrace.
I can’t fault this hotel at all and I’m blown away by the hospitality.
Thank you Alkon for making our stay so perfect!
The hotel is spotlessly clean. We had a sea view and the room was spacious and nice.
The pool looked good but it was so cold, the weather had been bad and it was May so it probably hadn't heated up yet. We did brace it briefly. The sunbeds are comfortable and pool towels are available free of charge.
Breakfast was good, a nice amount of choice. The staff are all so friendly. The toiletries in the room are really nice - I normally bring my own but was really happy using these.
Be warned the hotel is at the top of a hill, as most are in Mykonos. The bonus is the sunset view is fantastic and definitely worth watching. The views in general are spectacular. The downside is that the walk up the hill in the heat is quite hard work. Going down doesn't seem so bad but the return journey was strenuous. Also the path is unlit when dark. It wasn't horrendous though and I think you'd have the same most places in Mykonos but it's not very disabled/pushchair/mobility issues friendly.
One minor thing, for such a well kept hotel we were surprised to find 2 lights out in our room and the cover missing to the toilet flush. Minor but it let the hotel down slightly given the standard it seemed to be trying to maintain. On a positive the rainfall shower was lovely.
Downward easy walk into Mykonos town but the journey back is a bit of a grueller, if your disabled or a bit on the unfit side you might struggle, but for me it was fine and I made the journey 5/6 times!
Christos picked me up from the airport, think he’s the nicest friendliest guy on the island! This hotel offers free transfers from the airport which is a massive bonus!
Both receptionists were very helpful and gave you all the information you would need for the island.
Buffet breakfast was very basic, which was a bit disappointing, juice wasn’t very nice and I’d expect a bit better for a 4* hotel.
I was very happy with my stay, and I would definitely stay again (for the price I paid) would I pay the price of the summer months €300 a night? Definitely not but that’s the price you have to pay to stay on the most expensive island in Greece, I wouldn’t be back in the summer either as Mykonos town is only small and it would be mega busy.
"Take advantage of the FREE Shuttle Transfer from the port! Very nice Mercedes Van and a super nice driver! Don't be afraid of walk to town."Read full review
"Only negative is route to the town as it is steep and taxis are very expensive in Mykonos. "Read full review
