This hotel is located on the hillside of Mykonos Town which rewards you with a beautiful view of the windmills and old harbour. It's a 10 minute walk down to the town mostly consisting of steps. We're late 30s/early 40s and are quite fit and managed this okay although it was a little sweaty! It was really peaceful and worth the trek up for the views. If you plan to walk around and not get taxis, do not pack heels! There are some restaurants nearby but we walked into town every night. There is also a bus stop just outside the hotel up the hill to the right which takes you to the harbour and we caught the bus to Elia Beach.

We had room 122 in the lower part of the hotel with sea views slightly obscured by greenery. These rooms had a private patio although right next to neighbours and so not for those wanting complete privacy. The room was really bright with patio doors onto the terrace and beautiful views to wake up to. The bathroom is very modern with a great rain style shower. Toiletries were provided (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, dental set, soap and shower cap) but not restocked in our 3 night stay but if we'd asked for more I'm sure we would have been given them. There is a safe in the room (no charge) and a hairdryer. Also nice to see a freestanding makeup mirror which I never see but very useful to move into the natural light. The room was spacious with a large comfortable bed, a sofa and a desk area. We also were given two large bottles of water on arrival.

Breakfast was reasonable and was made up of cereals, yoghurt, dried, tinned and fresh fruit, breads, cakes, English and continental options plus a few Greek specialities. The views from breakfast are stunning.

The hotel pool is a highlight. The water temperature is just perfect. I've been in some very cold pools before but this was warm enough to get in but cool enough to feel refreshing. Really nicely done with stunning views and a nice cocktail bar and fabulous sunsets. No beach/pool towels provided and so bring your own. The hotel has amazing views from reception which is where you'll also find the hotel bar. It was very quiet when we were there but a beautiful spot for sunset drinks, just slightly missing an atmosphere at the moment.

The staff are so lovely and picked us up from the airport and dropped us off at the port. They made some great recommendations of things to see and places to eat and were generally helpful all round.

I'd definitely recommend this hotel to those who are more mobile and fit as there are a few steps around the property and unless you hire a vehicle or are happy to get a taxi all the time, the steps up and down to town could be a struggle. We loved it and those views are just beautiful!

The stellar service from the family owned operation is worth visiting alone, very friendly, accommodating, and enjoyable. The location is perfect, can go down into Mykonos town down some steps and be there in the heart of the action by no more than 10 minutes as said in previous reviews. The location also allows you to walk up more and is close to cheaper restaurants (local Mykonos is amazing and 2.9 euro for a wrap just….get in my belly) there’s a dominos and burger chain less than 10 minute walk up the hill. Also a brewery is about 15 minutes from here. A private hospital is close that has both PCR and rapid tests if you re within 3 days of flying back to the US. Everything you need. Bonus is transportation from the port or airport which can save you a pretty penny both ways.
That being said the pluses out weight the minuses thus four stars, but the hotels walls are thin noises and people were heard we stayed in a double with extra bed, and it was below the pool chairs so could hear them scratching while moving during most the day and early evening. Our balcony had no view due to a tree and shrubs and it was much better from other angles, could of paid less and just stayed at the pool when wanting views of the town. The room is key controlled (common in all of our destinations) so ask for two so you can keep a cool room while outside of it. And there’s no outside food or drink by the pool so expect to pay bar prices for drinks instead of much cheaper in your room and a local market. We would return again but would make sure the room was in a different situation while paying for the upgrade. COVID Compliant and clean.

Working in the travel industry, I have been fortunate enough to stay in many beautiful hotels around the world. I was so worried to travel again once the world started opening up again!
The problem is, I have the travel ambition and need to explore the world.
This was my 4th trip to Mykonos. I decided to book Alkyon as it seemed to tick all the boxes and I have to say, I was not disappointed.
The hotel are taking extra care during COVID-19 you can see they want to make sure guests feel as safe and secure as possible and I certainly did!
The pool is cleaned and disinfected after someone leaves.
The staff are incredible, so kind and personable. Always smiling and taking time to speak to you.
The pool area is so peaceful, with beautiful scenic views and the rooms are cleaned daily and we had a wonderful sea view terrace.
I can’t fault this hotel at all and I’m blown away by the hospitality.
Thank you Alkon for making our stay so perfect!

We booked 2 sea view family rooms for 4 nights in July. The rooms were sparsely decorated, with very simple furniture, but were very clean. Rooms and all hotel facilities are in need of updating. One room had the advertised sofa bed, the other did not. Both rooms had a small outdoor seating space which faced the sea. The rooms were cleaned daily, but drinking water was not replenished. There were no tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast was a shabby affair, with poor quality fruit and tinned goods. The owner, Sofia, was polite but penny pinching - when I left a phone charger in my room and asked for it to be posted to me in Athens, it was not delivered because the charges had been reversed and I was not in the Athens hotel at the time to pay (this was over a matter of 10 euros when I had paid Sofia approx 3,000). The hotel was very understaffed.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The transfer to and from the port was included for free which is a real bonus as taxis are expensive. We were greeted warmly and our luggage taken to our room.

The hotel is spotlessly clean. We had a sea view and the room was spacious and nice.

The pool looked good but it was so cold, the weather had been bad and it was May so it probably hadn't heated up yet. We did brace it briefly. The sunbeds are comfortable and pool towels are available free of charge.

Breakfast was good, a nice amount of choice. The staff are all so friendly. The toiletries in the room are really nice - I normally bring my own but was really happy using these.

Be warned the hotel is at the top of a hill, as most are in Mykonos. The bonus is the sunset view is fantastic and definitely worth watching. The views in general are spectacular. The downside is that the walk up the hill in the heat is quite hard work. Going down doesn't seem so bad but the return journey was strenuous. Also the path is unlit when dark. It wasn't horrendous though and I think you'd have the same most places in Mykonos but it's not very disabled/pushchair/mobility issues friendly.

One minor thing, for such a well kept hotel we were surprised to find 2 lights out in our room and the cover missing to the toilet flush. Minor but it let the hotel down slightly given the standard it seemed to be trying to maintain. On a positive the rainfall shower was lovely.

Alkyon is a very very well run hotel. It’s marble floors are immaculate and so are the rooms. The hotel is suberbly located close ( walking 10 minutes) to the heart of town and sufficiently away from late night partying to be quiet for resting dreamily in a large comfortable bed in a large room with an outdoor patio, refrigerator iron bath amenities ( you don’t even need to bring your own toothbrush!) Sophia heads the well coordinated team of Vasilis ,Christo Christo and Christo ( no kidding ) and staff members who are impeccably calibered in the art of hospitality. With housekeepers immaculate cleaning and the pleasant morning greeting of “calimera” at the complementary breakfast buffet featuring the international standards with several Greek dishes(The Greek yogurt is by far the best on the planet).starts the day where you won’t want to leave the bartended pool with perfect walk-in water temperature and one of, if not the best sunset and belle views in all of Mykonos. So sit back and enjoy you’re in good hands.

Hotel Alkyon is located above the town. This means a 15 minute walk up and down. Cap fare is fixed at €10. However, you get a great view of the town and the harbour. Well worth the effort. You also get peace and quiet …. Mykonos is one party island. The hotel is very classy, well appointed and clean. Rooms are large and bright. Large windows and highly effective heat pumps to keep the room cool. Great showers. Breakfasts are more than amble and the buffet area is kept spotless. The staff is beyond pleasant and always helpful. Transport to and from the port or the airport is included in your reservation. Our arrival suffered a major delay but the hotel limo was there to pick us up. Chris was there with a welcome and no complaints. That was amazing but first impressions are all part of this staff team. Not inexpensive sure but good value for cost. No hesitation in recommending this hotel

Had a nice few days break here during April.
Downward easy walk into Mykonos town but the journey back is a bit of a grueller, if your disabled or a bit on the unfit side you might struggle, but for me it was fine and I made the journey 5/6 times!
Christos picked me up from the airport, think he’s the nicest friendliest guy on the island! This hotel offers free transfers from the airport which is a massive bonus!
Both receptionists were very helpful and gave you all the information you would need for the island.
Buffet breakfast was very basic, which was a bit disappointing, juice wasn’t very nice and I’d expect a bit better for a 4* hotel.

I was very happy with my stay, and I would definitely stay again (for the price I paid) would I pay the price of the summer months €300 a night? Definitely not but that’s the price you have to pay to stay on the most expensive island in Greece, I wouldn’t be back in the summer either as Mykonos town is only small and it would be mega busy.

The Hotel Alkyon is an approximately 15-20 walk above Mykonos town but the views are worth every uphill step. The hotel does provide free transfers for guests to and from the port though to make life easier with luggage. Room 116 has a huge terrace and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset over the island. The breakfast served on a terrace overlooking the sea is a rich buffet and includes lots of local delicacies like feta cheese spreads, vegetable pies and vine leaves stuffed with rice. A bit on the pricier side but the overall experience makes it worth it.

Wonderful stay at Hotel Alkyon! My daughter and I stayed at the Hotel Alkyon for just one night on our way from Athens to Naxos. I can not say enough good things about it. The customer service was amazing. Sophie made fantastic recommendations to us - she suggested we rent a car for 24 hours for 60 euro so we can go to a beach club (a taxi would have been twice that round trip) and then explore the small island, with a drive out to the lighthouse. It was so well worth it. The hotel has a lovely lobby and pool area with spectacular views of the village down below. It’s about a 10 minutes walk down steps and winding alleys into the village below. It’s a fun walk - like going thru a maze as is the village of Mykonos in general. Breakfast has lots of options and is in a room with a terrace next to the pool - again with spectacular views. A great place to stay to explore Mykonos! Thank you Sophie!!
