Detailed Reviews
This hotel is simply stunning. As other reviewers have mentioned, website photos give some indication of the beauty of the place .. but don't fully encapture the magic of it. Every inch of the property is utterly gorgeous. Such attention to detail at every turn. It is one of the most delightful places I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. With just 28 rooms it is a boutique experience, & stands in contrast to the bland, big boy hotels that dominate the South of the island. The style is more Bali then Canaries, with ornate bridges, dark wood antiques & exotic gardens. The villas are all individual, lavishly decorated & very spacious. Each has its own pool & generous outdoor space. Mine, Villa Flor, a Duchess Villa, so one of the smaller rooms, was nevertheless a revelation in terms of size, with a lavish bedroom, luxurious bathroom, full sized kitchen, & sumptuous sitting room. My patio looked over the front of the hotel & by night it was lovely to see the twinkling lights of Las Americas in the distance. Some reviewers have said they found it noisy, but I didn't notice any traffic noise whatsoever.
Service was also absolutely spot on - personal & caring.
There is a small spa & gym & a golf course directly opposite. The hotel is nicely removed from the full on melee of the main towns, yet you can reach them within a short cab ride. The village of La Caleta is particularly appealing. Food at the hotel was excellent & I particularly enjoyed the Al Fresco night (Mondays & Thursdays), in which tables are set around the pretty communal pool & guests are served a delicious set menu inclusive of wine. The restaurant La Jardin is as exquisitely decorated as the rest of the hotel, extremely romantic, & the gourmet food was very good. Breakfast was a small but delicious hot & cold buffet with guests asked to book a slot in order to adhere to Covid protocols.
The hotel has a very nice, friendly vibe, & from conversations with other guests, it was clear many were repeat customers. I can understand why.
A very special place.

Me and my partner stayed here in November, after our Thomas Cook holiday elsewhere was cancelled.
We didn’t know what to expect, and hadn’t been to Tenerife before, but this hotel surpassed our expectations and we were so glad we stayed here.
You pull up to a large brick wall, situated in a road, but don’t be fooled. As soon as you walk through the large wooden gates, you’re greeted by a pool, beautiful plants and flowers, hanging seats, candles... it’s like an oasis. It’s orange walls and tiles make you feel like you’re in Morocco, but the public plunge pool gives way to the mountains of Tenerife.
We had a “standard” room, a deluxe room I think it was called. The room was lovely, the bedroom filled with dark wooden furniture and a window with a private mini garden for your headboard. And a shutter so you can block out the light.
You get a kitchenette, great for a light breakfast or lunch, depending on your board basis.
We also got a small terrace which was great for sunbathing and having a drink or food in the evening.
We also got a very small plunge pool. We definitely thought the pool would be bigger, but the more you pay, the bigger pool, so it did make sense. I’ve certainly paid similar prices in other parts of the world and got a much bigger pool(one you can swim in for example) but you can also use the main pool of the hotel of course, where you get sunscreen and towels. My only niggle was around the main pool there are only a few loungers, and a couple of times we went there and there was no space.
There is a small bar tucked away to the left of reception, which we went to a couple of nights, and the cocktails were some of the best we’ve had! The bar staff were also very friendly and couldn’t help you enough. They even offered to carry our drinks to the restaurant for us!
Speaking of the restaurant, hands down one of the best things about Royal Garden Villas is having Jardin Restaurant on site. The food was AMAZING! We were half board, so ate there about four/five nights out of our seven and every meal was fantastic. The service and quality of food was worth the extra money for half board. And when we went into Tenerife to eat, the food was good, but not as good as Jardin.
The restaurant was beautifully decorated and a few nights they even had a piano player.
Our breakfast was also in the restaurant, and was really nice. Such a good selection and again, the service was excellent.
We had room service as part of our board too, and this was delicious with great service.
Overall, a superb stay. Seems obvious, but go for the biggest room you can for your budget, as the pool size will reflect this. Unless, you don’t mind or won’t use the pool.
We don’t play golf, but the hotel is very handy for golf course.
Also, important to note it’s 15 minutes out of town, so be prepared for taxi rides or to hire a car if you want to get around.

Dear Guests, Thank you so much for your visit and for taking the time to write your lovely review. Over the Christmas and new year we have been extra busy but please note normally our main pool is very quiet and really comfortable. You have certainly gone out of your way to share your views in great detail with our readers, we really appreciate that and I am so delighted you enjoyed your stay so much, especially seeing as it wasn't your original plan. May I take this opportunity to wish you both a Very Happy New Year and I hope this means that we will see you again at Royal Garden Villas. Kindest regards Fiona Mc Andrew. Hotel manager.

Firstly I would like to say that the staff at the hotel are wonderful.Nothing is too much trouble especially in the restaurant ( we only had breakfast). Very helpful and when we arrived our bags went easily to our room and the car was parked ( we weren't quite sure where). Everyone was very friendly and I would say that this is the hotel's biggest asset.
The breakfast was served in a basement restaurant lots of choice and spotlessly clean. There was cooked breakfast and fresh fruit etc. I wasn't very keen on sitting in a basement setting so we didn't have dinner there also there seemed to be piped music which wasn't our taste. I know there is a BBq some evenings outside.
Our room itself was great as was all the inside areas but unfortunately outside was very noisy from traffic off the road and a an AC unit rattling. I think our room was one of the budget ones that suffers from road noise unlike some of the other rooms maybe. We were there to relax and enjoy the sunshine so we ended up going to a lovely beach nearly every day nearby . I would have stayed at the pool but there were about 6 sun beds and it was sitauted near the reception area where guests were going back and forth and it didn't feel very restful. It felt like being in a corridor. For us I guess it didn't quite work as a hotel but there are geat things about it especially if you want to play golf as it is next door.

The good part ... wonderful staff and lovely property. However. Three problems. (1) The reservation policy is ridiculous for a 5 star property. On check in for a 6 night stay I realized I had made a mistake and booked a check out date one day later than intended. I was told any change not made within 48 hours would be charged at check in. Tired from missed connections and cancelled flights I agreed and hoped to staighten things out the next day. Despite the intervention from the hotel manager Fiona (who was most gracious and did comp some room charges) I ended up paying 800 euros for a night we did not occupy the room. 2. Road noise is a real problem. The property straddles 2 busy roads - look it up on Googel Maps. We opted for a higher level and I cannot imagine what lower units experience. Especially motorcycles growling up and down the road and construction equipment. 3. Sun or lack therof. The units face due East and by noon there is no more sun on your private pool area. Forget sightseeing in the morning and relaxing in the sun in the afternoon. Sure you can use the small common pool area but the idea is a "private" villa right? There are plenty of other options on Tenerife.

Dear Guest. Thank you very much for your visit to Royal Garden Villas. Your lovely comment about our staff is much appreciated, we are very proud of them. It was so terribly unfortunate what happened to you with your journey being cut short. Firstly your airline delays and secondly your error on booking an extra day. Our non refundable policy is a terrific service as it is quite generously discounted, it works very well for both customer and establishment. Understandably at the same time we respect the customer's attained discount without acception, our payment must be non refundable without exception for this option to work correctly. (This is payment in full on booking with discount for doing so). This said and done, on occasions we have bent this rule when we have felt we could or should i.e sad or devastating circumstances that alter the customer's length of stay. I am so sorry that on this occasion we did not find fair enough reason to partake as this was as a result of errors elsewhere. I was delighted to help you however, with a very generous discount on your hotel extras independent of the fact that our hotel had nothing to do with this, to ease the discomfort for you. With regard to sunshine, we are not South facing but we do enjoy sunshine on the private terraces until atleast 15h Winter months and 16h Summer months. We have 28 individual different villas with different sized terraces where this varies. I am so sorry that you didnt mention these other grievances to me when we met on a few occasions as perhaps I could have helped as I did with discounting your hotel extras. Thank you for your lovely mention of me and I do hope you managed to solve your issues with the concerned people. Many thanks and kindest regards. Fiona Mc Andrew Hotel manager.

We returned for our 3rd visit this rime with my parents in tow. Slightly concerned about travelling against FCO advice, we needn’t have been. Everything was wonderful. Villa Miami was such a treat. On my birthday I was surprised by cake at breakfast from Fiona and then some fizz and balloons in the room (the balloons were very popular with my daughter).
All hygiene measures were in place to enable us to relax and enjoy the holiday and it was nice to see the hotel was not super quiet in spite of the troubles.
Love this place and hope to return

Spent 7 night break booked through Secret Escapes which was good value. Lovely villa and very friendly staff. The overall ambience is similar to a Riad in Marrakesh and very attractive. We would have liked advance information to assist our arrival in the dark about accessing the parking garage which is the other side of the hotel from reception . Nowhere to park at reception entrance which is very discreet and easy to miss. The hotel provides valet parking once you have found the reception. Good spa (steam room but no sauna) and the communal pool area is high class. Contrary to previous review in The Telegraph, we found the breakfast choice and quality first rate so the manager has clearly improved things. Dinner is quite formal and rather expensive but food and service are excellent. As the menu did not change daily we made use of excellent restaurants in La Caleta as well where the location provides great sunset views as a bonus and just 5 minute drive away. Too far to walk particularly in darkness so hire at really essential at this hotel.

Dear Guests, Thank you so much for your visit. It was lovely to meet you. Thank you for your very valid feedback. The entrance to the hotel was purposely built this way to create the feeling of complete discression to outsiders, yes the Valet will park your car and once you are in and settled this is very easy access for coming and going but very interesting for night arrivals so thank you. Our steam room in the spa is Turkish bath. Thank you for your lovely comments about our staff and breakfast. I hope that we will see you back at Royal Garden Villas very soon. On arrival, passing through the front door, my wife and i both said "Wow" we had seen the website over and over, but this was better. The immediate surroundings, the reception, pool and bar area were awesome. Check in was quick friendly and efficient. We were taken to the beautiful Villa Sol. This Villa is truly magnificent, the furnishings, fabrics and decor were absolutely first class. The Villa had 2 beautiful bedrooms, 2 superb bathrooms, 4 showers and a designer bath with loads of sumptuous towels. There was also a very large spacious lounge area with sofas and table and chairs. Along with this there was kitchen area with every appliance and a separate laundry room. This hotel is a stunning oasis hidden away behind walls and glass. Everywhere you look you find wonderful Flora and Fauna. Among this are hidden away quirky ornaments birds, duck, turtles often as fountains. There is a superb Spa with a lovely pool and steam room and for the energetic also a squash court. The restaurant is a thing of beauty serving very nice breakfasts and at night it comes alive with different colour decor and lights. The food is top notch A La Carte and the wine list is quite expansive. This is a quiet peaceful place. Each Villa has its own outdoor space with quality sunbeds, table and chairs and a Balinese bed. Along with this there is your own private pool. Now for the Staff, from the lovely Manager Fiona all the way through all of the Staff are so friendly, welcoming and helpful, always greeting you with a smile. These staff go along way to making this Hotel a happy first class place. It is a tribute to the selection and training methods. We have holidayed all over the World, and this place takes some beating We will be back as soon as is possible. Thank you Fiona for a wonderful holiday. P.S at this time of the Covid crisis there could be no safer place to come

We originally booked royal garden villas for 2020 for our honeymoon for 5 nights. We contacted the hotel directly, who put together a honeymoon package which included a 2 bed villa with half board, spa treatments and airport transfers at a very reasonable price. We opted for the non refundable up front rate and paid early in 2020 as our wedding was all booked so we would definitely be going! Obviously Covid came along so we rearranged for 2021 and then rearranged again for 2022! Each time the hotel was very happy to change our dates and even accommodate our 6 month old daughter, all for no extra cost.
Upon arrival, we were greeted at reception with a glass of cava and to sort through the paperwork which was very straight forward.
We were shown to our villa and we were blown away. Downstairs was a full kitchen, a bedroom with en-suite with walk in shower, living room with fully stocked bar and outside a balcony area with a beautiful pool. Upstairs was the master bedroom, with a walk in wardrobe, a super king bed, bathroom with huge bath tub and another balcony with a huge bath and sun loungers. They had also made up a travel cot ready for our daughter along with a high chair downstairs.
The entire villa is beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean and has everything you could possibly need.
The entire hotel is beautiful and spotless throughout. There really is a high quality of finish everywhere.
The service from start to finish was excellent. Reception have a WhatsApp which worked very well, enabling very effective communication and nothing was too much trouble, whether that was making reservations, booking taxis and a babysitter and getting issues sorted quickly. The staff in the restaurant are friendly and polite. Fiona, the hotel manager even met us at breakfast on our first day which was a nice touch.
The food is first class. The breakfast is a buffet style and has everything you could think of, both full English and continental. The food at dinner is also absolutely delicious. We only ate in the restaurant on one evening and had room service on other days. The room service menu is varied and everything we ate was excellent.
The spa is also lovely, and we had an excellent relaxing massage each (we both feel asleep!)
The hotel is about a 20 minute walk down the hill to La Caleta, but everywhere is easily reachable by taxi and taxis in Tenerife are cheap and very accommodating for small children! It’s only around 20 mins to Tenerife south airport.
We had a very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable 5 nights here and would recommend to anyone. It really is a fabulous hotel and we hope to return in future. Thank you to everyone at Royal Garden Villas for making our honeymoon so special.

The decor was superb, service and welcome excellent, just as you would expect.
In my opinion the hotel is better suited to couples than families. Very quiet, very compact, small pools, nothing really happening, which is my ideal, but not for my teenage sons.
Menu choices for both room service and in the restaurant were very limited especially for a vegetarian. Nearest local restaurants are a long walk or a drive away, which means a taxi or somebody staying on water rather than wine 😳
We all enjoyed our 45 minute slot in the spa, it was beautiful in the dark and nice not to have to share with another family.
The worst part for me was that we had a couple of lizards in our room. OMG, I didn’t sleep!
We managed to catch one and set it free thirty mile up the road 😂 but our villa was two storey and we could not reach the other one on the stairs. There were also a couple by the pool.
I think the beautiful setting and the trees provide a sanctuary for them, as I’ve not had this problem in concrete jungle hotels in Tenerife such as the Hardrock.

Dear Guests, Thank you very much for your visit and your lovely comments in your review. We actually started our new full menu again this week with lots of Vegetarian options, I am so sorry we didn't know as independent of our menu we would have been delighted to help with suggestions. We reopened post covid lockdown with various restrictions, one being, having to reduce the menu but I am pleased to inform this is now back to normal. Apologies for the lizards, yes they are around. Thank you for your time here however and I hope that we will see you again. Kindest regards Fiona Mc Andrew. Hotel manager.

I recently stayed at the Royal Garden Villas with three of my friends for 3x nights/4 days and it was absolutely paradise. We stayed in Villa Coral which faced the south side of the island. Our villa was incredibly spacious (both inside and outside) with everything we needed. The few things we 'wanted' were simply a call away (they delivered us a speaker, more coffee pods, etc). The space was clean and comfortable and they left chocolates and bottled water each night.
The spa was amazing and boutique in feel (only one person though so book early or right when you get there). The gym was quite small but I didn't get the impression it was used that often. The breakfast is definitely worth it (and I hardly ever say that) - very upscale buffet and a twice I took breakfast back to my villa.
Taxi's are easy to get, and a walk down the hill to town took about 20 minutes. Grocery store was close and worth a quick trip for snacks, wine, etc.
Everyone that works there was incredibly nice and helpful - Alejandro, Oscar, Damien etc!

I am pretty certain they aren’t but we went on Jan 20th and it was warm enough for me to get in. We generally went in during the afternoon or early evening so it had heated up. One of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in and we really have stayed in some of the finest in the world. Enjoy!
It depends on the standard of villa you book. The Majestic Villas are higher up - so these and anything above are quieter. Others are on the first floor and so overlook the road
