Recently returned from our 3rd visit to Colon Guanahani and have already booked a 4th visit in a few months’ time.

This is a very good small adult only hotel (the guests are mainly retired age group) set in a quiet area of Costa Adeje, rooms are a good size with large walk in wardrobes, safe and a lovely large bathroom/shower. The whole of the hotel (and resort) is well equipped for anyone with mobility problems, lots of ramps and lifts.

There are three swimming pools and the hotel provide two large towels for each guest, one for the sunbed and one for drying with. The hotel is very clean and well maintained.

We stayed on half board and enjoyed dining outside each evening (underneath overhead heaters), there is a large selection of food available including very good desserts.

Many people from various countries are repeat guests which reinforces how good the hotel is, we are happy to recommend it to family and friends.

This really is a fantastic hotel. From the moment you step out of your transfer from the airport you are made welcome. The staff, from room cleaners, bar staff, restaurant staff are all very friendly and helpful. We had a twin room on the ground floor. Very spacious, a large walk in wardrobe, the best shower in any hotel I have stayed in anywhere in the world. Arm chairs to relax in the room, our own patio with two sun loungers, two chairs and a table. The safe was big enough to serve a small bank. There are three pools, two on the ground floor and one on the rooftop and two jacuzzi. The pool bar for eats and drinks during the day and an in the evening a very nice restaurant. The main restaurant is on the second floor and is used for breakfast and evening meals. It is buffet style but also has two choices each night served at the table if you wish. There are masses of sunbeds all around both lower pools and the rooftop but despite notices asking politely not to reserve beds there are lots of Germans so you know what happens. You will always find a spare bed though. There are plenty of lifts about so the aged and infirm can easily get about. Within half a mile there is the beach and plenty of eating establishments. Entertainment was put on every night and last night we had a very pleasant female singer plus a troupe of Flamenco dancers. All in all this is a super place to stay and as an oldie myself one of the joys is that no children under 16 are allowed to stay. Highly recommended.

Decided on a shortbreak at the last minute to Tenerife and booked the Hotel Colón Guanahaní on the basis of the positive reviews. It turned out to be a great choice. The hotel was spotless, in a great location and best of all adults only. The rooms were large with a great walk in shower, and large storage room / walk in wardrobe with plenty of hanging and a free safe, also there was a handy fridge in the room to stock up with drinks from the supermarket opposite. The drinks bought at the poolside were reasonable and all cashless as the room keycard is used to pay for everything within the hotel.
The first day the breakfast was done by queing, but I think some restrictions must have been lowered in Spain as this changed to a much quicker buffet system with the usual arrows to follow to maintain some form of social distance. The breakfast was good, cant comment on any other food as we eat out in thr evenings.
The hotel was definitely getting busier as we left but stil plenty of sunbeds if you didnt leave it too late as they had filled up by lunchtime. Still plenty of people reserving beds and not turning up until later despite the many signs telling you not to reserve beds.
The staff were excellent in all areas, no complaints at all.
If we return to this area we would have no hesitation in looking at this hotel first.

Our first visit to Tenerife, and we are so happy we chose this wonderful hotel.
Perfect position in Costa Adeje, not too lively, but plenty of great restaurants and stunning beaches all a few minutes walk.
So pleased with our room which had one of the best bathrooms I have ever seen!! And the walk in wardrobe was a real treat!
Pool towels, bath robes and slippers provided, and a welcome fruit basket and bottle of Cava, the room was cleaned by the most friendly cleaners every day.
Two beautiful heated pools, lots of comfy sun beds and a friendly pool bar....perfection.
Also loved the rooftop pool and jacuzzi with sea view.
The huge breakfast buffet was amazing, and we certainly didn’t need lunch after!
As for the staff they were all so friendly and helpful.
If you are looking for a quiet, non high rise friendly hotel in a perfect position..look no further!

We had a wonderful stay at the Colon Guanahani, thank you!

Pros: Location – we stayed bed and breakfast as have done lots of buffets before and sometimes find them a little boring so would rather go out to try the local restaurants to eat. Staying at this hotel we could walk within a few mins to 30 mins to find many many different restaurants, and on exploring more it was obvious we were in the quieter and perhaps some would say “classier” end of the built up area. Despite the buffet area being fairly small, this matched the number of people at the hotel and there was enough choice at breakfast for our stay of a week. Fresh omelettes were a bonus. Always sat outside on the big terrace for breakfast and it was a lovely spot, the staff were very efficient at clearing tables to make space for new arrivals. We enjoyed spending most days by the pool and were pleased that the hotel had a fairly strict no reservation of sunbeds rule – we saw the lifeguard at some points go round to clear off some peoples belongings and take them to reception just as a reminder to others, and it worked, even when returning to the hotel at midday to then sit by the pool we always found some beds available which makes a nice change to horror stories you hear of towels being put down at 2am in other places! We liked our balcony overlooking the pool and the fact we had an umbrella on it for shade, definitely worth paying the extra for the superior room.

Cons: None really. Buffet breakfast might get boring if staying more than a week but that is the same with any hotel.

Other: Cant really comment on the entertainment as we were out every evening although we did catch the end of some flamenco dancing one night. Not the place to go if you want a party but the relaxing live music seemed to suit the general clientele of the hotel. Likewise we didn’t spend any time actually on the beach but walked along the promenade in both directions plenty of times. Only a five min walk to get down to the beach, then turning left takes you into the busier area with more bars and restaurants whereas to the right takes you past several hotel resorts, and some restaurants. We would recommend ‘Sucas’ if you are celebrating a special event – we enjoyed a lovely tasting menu there but be prepared for a bit of a hot walk up a hill to get there. Also the skybar at the GF Victoria Hotel for great views and cocktails; the Gourmet Market at the Iberostar hotel was a lovely spot for food, drinks and watching the sunset; also tried the jardins nivaria sister hotel – bar and ‘la cascada’ restaurant by their pool we enjoyed just shame it wasn’t busier. Thought we were getting 10% of the bill as we were staying at the sister hotel but then realised this was only for people staying half board. Still enjoyed our night there though.

We have just returned from our second visit to the Hotel Colon Guanahani and we have already booked for February 2021. Love this Hotel, the Staff are welcoming and so helpful (especially Lee on Reception). Rooms are clean and well equipped. The Swimming Pool is heated and the sun area is always clean with plenty of sun beds. The food at lunch time at the pool side restaurant is very good and the evening buffet is excellent value and also very enjoyable. Really can't find fault.

We have recently returned from our 2nd visit in 6 months, this time to celebrate my wife's birthday and again the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to make her day really special.
The reception staff make you feel so welcome when you arrive, when we got to our room we received a lovely bottle of bubbly and fruit, a lovely surprise!
Everything about this hotel is fantastic, the rooms are spacious, pool areas are very relaxing with plenty of sun beds so no rushing down in the morning to queue or book a bed. The staff work really hard to maintain the high standards of cleanliness everywhere is spotlessly clean.
We stayed half board and the selection of food was varied and very fresh.
Once again a big thanks to all the staff for everything they did for us and making my wife's birthday very special!
It is unfair to pick out staff as everyone works really hard but Emillio for helping arrage the birthday celebrations, Oscar, Rosario, Catherine and Dora in the restaurant, Alex, Mario and Flavio in the bar and Juan in the pool bar!!!
Thanks again and hope to see you all soon.

The hotel is amazing with a fabulous attention top service and detail. Rooms were immaculate, modern, fabulous large power showers. Huge safes and plush dressing gowns and slippers. Rooms are modern with a beach feel and decent air con. Booked direct on the website so fresh bottled water every day and a fridge in room.

Staff simply could not do enough from arrival, through to departure. This is an adult only hotel 16+ years and has an older audience, which for us, was a bonus, especially around the pool, which was lovely and quiet.

The Hotel has a no reserving sunbeds policy, although a few people still did, but they remove towels when the lifeguard arrives if people are not on their sunbeds. This was great and never a problem getting a place by the pool even at 10am on a morning. As a little;e bonus, the hotel has a 3rd floor roof terrace sunup with a lovely little pool overlooking the sea and beachfront. The hotel provides subbed towels and beach towels for drying yourself, which are changed daily. There's a free to use steam room, sauna and jacuzzi tucked away by the spa.

Buffet was amazing. Food choices incredible. The best buffet I've seen. Cold foods on ice, hot foods all hot, eggs, omelettes, pancakes cookies to order at breakfast. The breakfast area outside was like a mini plaza, lots of staff who were all extremely attentive.

They run a 2 weeks evening meal rotation with a la carte and an app to show the choices spanning two weeks. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, but for 24 euros per person, you can have the buffet + Al a carte (doesn't include drinks)

If there is one thing about the hotel that I would change, it would be the gym. The equipment was all very worn, treadmill didn't work and weight machine looked very unsafe with bars being rusty and cables frayed on the weight stacks. This didn't impact on the stay, because myself and our sons ran and swam every day, but as gym goers, it would have been the icing on the cake had the gym been fit for purpose, which is definitely wasn't.

The public areas were all super clean, the hotel frontage looks incredibly appealing and the welcome on arrival was lovely. The location is a 2 minute walk from the beach, and a 30 second to 2 minute walk from two supermarkets. The roads were very quiet adjacent to the hotel and restaurants were a 2-3 minute walk.
If you like a relaxing time away by a pool without the hassle of rowdy teens and young children, then this Hotel ticks all the boxes.

Whilst it sits in the 4 star official rating, we really would recommend the hotel and are planning to return net Autumn.

The Col0n Guanahani is our favourite hotel. It is in a superb location in Costa Adeje being a short stroll to Playa Fanabe and many restaurants along the coast. Walking north along the seafront takes you to the El Duque beach and further along to La Caleta, a former fishing village and very picturesque.
The hotel itself is one of the smaller in Costa Adeje and as we are repeat guests we notice that many of the staff are familiar faces and all seem to keen to ensure everyone has a good holiday. The hotel is perfect for disabled guests and is adult only. We found it to be everything we required and more.
The rooms are distributed over four floors, the top floor having some sea views. There is also a super sea view from the rooftop pool. Two other pools are at ground level, one of which has a disabled persons lift.
We found there was a good choice of food at breakfast (including freshly cooked eggs, pancakes, omelettes) and in the evening.
Perhaps the hotel is better suited to middle/older aged guests as there may not be enough activities for the younger generation.
Ask for rooms on poolside or with pool view, and on sunny side.

We chose to return to this hotel as a last minute holiday decision due to the hideous prices being asked in the Uk, normally we never return to the same place to holiday, but, when we last visited in 2019, the Guanahani gave us a perfect location and a perfect experience at their hotel.
Our room in 2019 was on the street side corner at high level, which afforded us a great panoramic view of the sea, this is classed as a standard room.
Booking this time I thought we’d upgrade to a supreme room, it was possible to upgrade to a supreme room with pool view, but thinking we were happy with our previous standard room, we may get something maybe larger without the pool view which we weren’t bothered about.
On arrival, Our room was found to be on the first floor overlooking the pool, not something we expected! We returned to reception to complain that this wasn’t what we wanted, the room was the same size as a standard and to me was not as good as our previous room. The receptionist asked us to stay in the one allocated until the next day when an alternative maybe found?
I asked him about the sea view during conversations and he informed me they couldn’t market any of their rooms as with a sea view? Now, I recall paying TUI about an extra £200 for a sea view room in Sorento Italy only to find that whilst on the balcony, at arms length, I could easily cover up “the Sea View” with my cigarette packet! So I’m a bit baffled at the information.
Anyroad, We had a word with ourselves after a short time and decided we were happy with our allocated room and I promptly told reception. My apologies for the misunderstanding to reception staff, but, it was late, had been a long stressful travel and it wasn’t what we expected.
That behind us, we settled in ok.
This hotel is in a great location for the beach, bars, etc and very central if you chose to walk to either Los Cristianos or El duque and beyond, buses pass the hotel regularly to either go locally or to the bus station if you want to go further afield? The food is good for all sittings but as you can imagine, in the present climate, the experience was nothing like the pre pandemic service, not the hotels fault at all, but due to the restrictions in place for Spain.
Entertainment every night was a mixed bag with something for everyone, the hotel bar is open until midnight along with the entertainment, bar prices are very reasonable for a hotel too.
Our room was cleaned every day and the bed made with fresh towels supplied, the cleaning team are amazing.
On a closing note, if your looking for an Adults only, Great location with attentive staff for your holiday, this is the place! We will be back at some point in the future and I’d like to thank the hotel and all of its staff for a great time during our stay.
Our only disappointment was not seeing the flamenco dancers this time! Sadly a victim of the pandemic restrictions!
Thanks Again Guanahani & Jet2holidays.
