I booked this trip the day before travel as a last minute 3 night stay for me and my son. We had just missed the bus from the airport which is €1.40 so got a taxi. The taxi should have been €14 but the driver took my €20 as if he was going for change and drove off! So be careful with that! And they still want you to wear masks in the taxi. On arrival reception was helpful. The complex is fully fenced and gated, you are given 2 keys, one for the apartment and one for the gates so it does feel secure. I paid for a basic apartment as we were only there 3 nights, I was rather jealous when I saw the balcony apartments round the pool getting all the parakeets landing on them! They are everywhere, all you hear is them squawking! Our apartment was around the back of the complex, everything was spotless and what you needed was provided. I only ate breakfast in the room so didn’t really use or need anything, all the washing up things are provided for you. Beds were comfy, no air con as mentioned before. The big fan in the bedroom is decent but I definitely think air conditioning is needed as at times I was melting. And only a standing fan in the living area. Cleaners were always about sweeping and cleaning outside areas. We got up early on our second day to use the pool but found it unusable until after 10am due to cleaning. In other countries I have visited this was normally done the night before so the pool can be accessed early. I went to the pool about 8am and there was only a handful of beds not covered on towels 🙄 So you do need to join in with the usual bed hoggers and get in early. On our last day I went at 7am and 50% of the beds were all towelled up already!! And of course there are plenty who turn up in the afternoon or don’t turn up at all! I ate at the pool bar which was reasonable prices, food was really nice too. The position of the hotel is good, right on the sea front and where our room was, if you sat on the terrace you could listen to the live music of the bar that was right next to us, once the door was shut though you heard nothing so that was good. I downloaded the e scooter app and had a go of those that are dotted along the sea front. They are very fast and fun so would recommend. I ate in restaurant Luna (as my dog is called Luna lol) this is very close to the hotel and food was very nice, service a bit slow but they were heaving. There is a tapas restaurant (La Carmencita del Puerto) right next to the hotel which has great reviews so that would be a good one to try but it is so busy so best to book. One night I rode the e scooter further south east on the front to eat and it is so much busier along there, obviously more places to choose from to eat but I preferred our end as it felt more relaxed and quieter. I tried to get late checkout but they were fully booked. I was informed I could store my bags at reception and use a shower/borrow a towel which was good. So basically had a full day round the pool on our last day and went to the airport for our flight at 22.15. I would return if I got another good deal like I did for this trip, most likely only for another few nights. Taxi to the airport home was only £10, didn’t get ripped off this time! Would have been 5 stars if there was air con and staff removed towels from the bed hoggers!…
Just got back from an 8 night stay at this superb little establishment. Rooms are good size, perfectly equipped for self catering if you don't mind cooking on holiday. We found the beds to be super comfy and the ceiling fan a real bonus at night.Shower always good power and plenty of hot water. The pool is the jewel in the crown, plenty of sunbeds and parasols....Good length and not really a deep end, which is great if ,like me, you aren't the most confident swimmer. We also had a little visit from the local parakeets every morning in the tree by our balcony❤ We have stayed in Lanzarote a few times and although this time we found the resort a little jaded and untidy, La Penita more than made up for that. Can't recommend this place highly enough if you want good standards with good value for money....its would be a definite if we went back to Lanzarote again.…
Just returned for our first 12 night stay at La Penita and we will definitely be back! We were in rooms 135 and 136, Seaview & pool view. Rooms are basic but very clean, rooms are cleaned every 2 days with fresh towels etc. No air con but a fan in the living room and a ceiling fan in the bedroom. Great pool & great pool bar too with lovely food and drinks. Met so many friendly people whilst we we there the hotel feels like a little community. Literally a 2 min walk down some steps to the promenade with great bars and restaurants would recommend Spoons. I agree with other review saying it needs more parasols! Overall a brilliant holiday we are already looking for later in the year. Big shout out to Ellie, Lauren & Cassie in the pool bar you were amazing!
Lá Penita is a fantastic place. Rooms are basic but clean.. Pool is big.. Location is fab.. Staff are lovely. We missed the pool bar on Sundays. We love it and travel every year. Its no exaggeration to say we know so many around the pool. You will find a little community of return guests from all over. But we met through Pedro and his wonderful activities. . He made the holidays for adults and kids alike . And made us lifelong friends who book every year without fail. We were disheartened to learn this was now gone. If Pedro is unavailable perhaps worth hiring another person. But it took some of the shine for many return customers this year.. I would also suggest some more parasols aee badly need to be added not enough for pool.
This was our 1st time at La Penita ( July 3rd to 10th ) and it didn't disappoint, it was what we expected for the money we paid, the apartment was basic but clean, and cleaned every other day, sheets on beds and towels, hairdryer in the bathroom, everything you need in a kitchen for a self catering holiday, although we didn't cook, no point, everything you need is on the doorstep, restaurants and bars to suit all your needs and not too expensive. The staff were very friendly, I even received a box of chocolates for my birthday, a nice gesture, Thank you. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well every night, the bedroom ceiling fan helped keep the room cool. the complex is gated and security guards patrol at night. The swimming pool is huge but beware, the water is freezing cold, even on a day that reached 32 degrees I felt the water was too cold, plenty of sunbeds by the pool but some of them were broken and could probably do with being replaced with new ones, the little pool bar was great but doesn't open on a Sunday, only a small selection of food and drinks but enough for a snack during the day, I enjoyed the food and the girls that run it are very friendly and English. All in all I would recommend La Penita, great location for walking into town, we will definitely be back, hopefully in September when its slightly cooler.…
Back after couple of years away. We find La Penita great for us, we want something which is easy and great. All the staff from reception to the pool/maintenance team are friendly always acknowledge us. The cleaning is of a good standard and of a consistent standard. Plenty of sunbeds round the pool. The apartments were very quiet overnight and the fans kept the temperature down allowing a comfortable sleep.
Be very carefull booking this place as its very deceiving. The photo graphs show two blocks of aptartments alongside the pool but the place is much bigger and that is not the lower part of the complex.on seeing this photo I requested a ground floor apartment as my partner had, had a hip operation. I did tis via email stating the problem. Sure enough they gave us a ground floor apartment 54 steps below everything. The only good thing was it was beside one of the gates to leave the complex to go out at night. We did get a replacement room after 2 days beside the pool and easy exit onto a road down to the main areas. BAD MANAGEMENT. We requested to keep the room on as our flight was an evening flight and gave plenty notice but were told this was unheard of ? Even though every other hotel in Spain has been accommodating for all my years traveling. They said they were very busy and needed the room, fair enough ! We vacated our room on the day and watched the cleaners take 15mins to clean and make ready our room at 12.15 we lay by the pool outside our room until leaving at 18.00 not a soul in it. They could have charged us €30 until 17.00 and still had the room ready for new customers. BAD MANAGEMENT AGAIN. The staff were friendly and the place though outdated was good. Big rooms and great pool. The towels were a total disgrace, worn out and dirty. Location was good as its on the main road. We will not hurry to book again. Check out all the facts.…
This was our 4th stay at La Penita, great location to many bars and restaurants in PDC. We felt the apartments and complex needed a little updating as some areas look tired, apartments are clean but basic, beds are so uncomfortable my partner didn’t sleep great during our stay, pool bar needs more going on better food menu/drinks and again that looks tired inside. We liked the balcony with new table and chairs and sun loungers, the reception staff are lovely we weren’t able to keep our room for a late check out but we were given access to the shower room which was spacious to get ready for leaving for the airport. Would I stay here again for the 5th stay i would like probably say no until some changes have been made.
We stayed here for all nights in June. Its a great spot, location is excellent. You are a couple of minutes walk from the main strip, very close to the casino and La Ola. The apartments are basic but fine, we paid for a sea view which was lovely. The apartments are cleaned every other day. The beds were a bit hard and not very comfortable. The staff were great especially the lady in the pool bar. The pool bar opened at around 11 each day and closed early evening. Overall a nice place, great location and well priced. Downsides were the pool was not heated and people were allowed to put towels down to reserve sunbeds despite never seeing them until late in the day. That is really annoying, hogging the best beds. Apart from that it was fine.
Hotel really clean good pool area friendly staff rooms good size very central to the main street witch is easy to find lots of shops and bars and restaurants if you come here a good place to come to is Thebar#whynot you meet some very nice people and the landlady Maria makes you feel very welcome
