Worst place we have ever stayed in people shouting late at night people jumping in and out the pool at 4am in the morning we have had no sleep for 2 weeks on this holiday horrible end of porta de carmen will never go there again total made our holiday a waist of time and more importantly money we payed
This was our second stay at costa mar, our first was 5 years ago. The hotel and rooms are clean. We had a ground floor room in block e. We had two double bedrooms and a sofa bed. We stayed self catering, room had a hob and basic cooking utensils. Across the road from the hotel is a spar. Towels are changed regular. The staff are all friendly and made us feel welcome. The hotel is across the road from a beach and has a few shops and restaurants outside. Transfer from the airport was around 12 euros. You can walk to the main strip in 20-30mins, or 5euro in a taxi. We would stay here again.
We visited on a cheap, self catering deal, so I want to give a fair review based on that. Me and my Husband are retired and I have some mobility issues; mainly around steps/stairs. I emailed to ask for a ground floor apartment and we were very happy to be given a two bedroom ground floor one, with a large patio. The rooms are large with plenty of storage and very large beds. Nice bathroom too. The kitchenette was very limited but as we don't do more than toast and tea that didnt matter to us. We didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on that. The location is in the centre of a large bay . There is a supermarket next door, plus a pharmacy and 3 or 4 bars and restaurants. Everything else is a walk away but it is mostly flat. All in all we had a lovely week but there are a few definite drawbacks for disabled people. If you are given anything other than a ground floor apartment there are lots and lots of steps and few ramps. Also and I think most importantly, there is no disabled access to the swimming pool at all. Only metal ladders to get in or out, which in my view is a real failing. In March the heat was bearable and the pool was freezing so it didn't matter, but in hotter weather it certainly would have been. There is no childrens pool either. …
Stayed here in Feb (week after half term) with my husband for 7 nights. Our room (A block) was basic, quite outdated. It was very spacious though and had a well equipped kitchenette. Lovey big balcony with bonus of two sun loungers. The view was beautiful overlooking the beach, and we had no problems with noise as the bedroom was at the back of the apartment. We were on the top floor though, and so going to the restaurant/ beach meant lots of steps, and also a flight of steps from the top main road down to our room. Food was not to our taste. Very limited menu for breakfast and dinner, and the restaurant seemed very busy no matter what time you went for meals. We decided to eat out most nights, but there are a few nice restaurants at the complex in front of the hotel. Turn left and a 5 minute walk brings you to another strip of restaurants, and right about 20 minutes takes you to Purerto Del Carmon so even more choice. We took a walk to the Biospehera complex one night, about an hours walk. Would 100% reccommend the open air cinema. Staff were polite enough, but I wouldn't go so far as to say friendly. The pool area is spotless and the pool itself is lovely although freezing. Lots of sunbeds and a pool table, plus a snack bar. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday but it wasn't to our taste so probably wouldn't return.…
We went w/c 10th Feb so before the madness of half term, we stayed in block b and had a ground floor apartment with two rooms, the apartment was clean and the cleaners came in every other day, dont need to pack toilet rolls. The breakfast was nice but not much on offer for children to be fair. My daughter ended up eating ham and bacon. The pool was clean and none of this beach towels guarding the sun loungers, my daughter loved the mini kids pool, the beach was lovely and rock pools to explore with easy access, we hired a bike car and that was €10 + €10 deposit for an hour which was long enought to go to the other end and get a coffee. Taxi to the next town was around €5 which is where Lidi is so probably worth going there to get some shopping, we ate out a few days and the food was lovely, pizza takeout was really good. Not a loud location, The staff in the resort were friendly enough and the cleaners were very helpful. Would definitely go back but would hire a car which was apparently cheap but didn't stay long enough to do that. Read other reviews about being out dated but for a hoilday let your not going to expect extravagant furnishings. We paid for the internet which works all over the loop of apartments. Most people speak English, even had to attend their version of a&e and they had an English speaking doctor and the medicine was very cheap.…
room clean tidy and comfortable reception polite and friendly and very helpful maid's very happy (if you speak to them ) we are 2 pensioners one with a walking problems e/mailed for lower room when we arived perfect f 13, note if people claim to leave stuff behind why don't they call police if as they claim it was stolen (good insurance payout?) we had nothing taken from room and stayed 28 night's, cant wait to return 10 out of 10
We booked this hotel for a week and checked out after one night. The room we got for 5 people did not suit 5 and one of us had to sleep on the sofa. Not what we had paid for. Very outdated which would have been fine but its passed that stage of acceptable and needs refurbishment. Bath / Shower was like something in a 1960 horror movie. Unfortunate we also got an iPad taken from under the pillow, it was left behind when we check out and when we realised and went back it wasn't to be 'found'. So overall, I'd definitely not recommend this hotel. 2 Star property at best and room security an obvious issue.
Stayed for a week 7th December.Had a lovely time and the apartment, was clean and comfortable, although very dated, hot water all day shower good.Cooking facilities basic.the frying pan was tiny and only holds 2 rashes of bacon. Television was useless, 1 English channel sky news,no music channel and no children's channel.but had 2 channel in Arebic ?, No Arebic guests . English are not catered for in that department.wifi was not good and was 15 euros per week. All staff polite and friendly. Having said all this we would stay again if cheep enough.
Stayed here with two teenagers for a weeks half term holiday. The kids loved it, swimming pool great, pool table and table tennis available for small extra charge. We went half board and enjoyed every meal we had, some repeating of options through the week but tasty non the less. My only grumble but only minor, was not a lot of choice of cereals at breakfast, muesli and cornflakes only option every day but not a great problem. Lots of alternative breakfast choices. Apartment was very spacious with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, large lounge/dining/kitchen area and an extra large balcony over looking the swimming pool. Although a little dated it was cleaned daily, in good repair and we were very happy with it. The hotel was ideally placed for the sea front, local shops, bike hire etc and within a few minutes of RanchoTexas Theme Park by car. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful no matter the time of day. We would definitely be happy to return here in the future.…
Having stayed here recently although I said it's basic the apartment was spotless and had most amenities except aircon. You can hire a fan from reception. Staff very friendly except for pool bar staff who were quite unpleasant. Limited restaurants nearby. Best was Sol y Mar. Good food and lovely staff. Spar close by. Again staff need personality transplant. Would return if aircon installed.
