Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
ILUNION Costa Sal Lanzarote garners mixed opinions regarding value; some guests appreciate the reasonable pricing of meals and amenities, while others find them costly and underwhelming. The atmosphere at the hotel is noted for its tranquility, which pleases those seeking peace, though it lacks the vibrancy some yearn for. The hotel's amenities receive high marks for their cleanliness and maintenance, particularly the pools and rooms.
The convenient location is regularly commended for its easy access to beaches and local amenities. Cleanliness throughout the hotel is consistently praised, as is the friendly and efficient service provided by the staff. However, some guests mention issues with room dampness and air conditioning.

Hotel's Favourite
We had an absolutely fabulous week at Costa Sal. It was our first visit and we will definitely be back!! Friendly, helpful, professional staff, good facilities, and very clean throughout the complex and “rooms”.
We were lucky enough to have a two bed bungalow near to the bottom of the complex - lovely position backing onto the smaller pool. The bungalow was a great size, a huge double bed (super super king - maybe 7ft?) in the main bedroom, and a twin room with two singles. Air con only in the living area, but this made loads of difference as it was 30+deg whilst we were there last week. Fully equipped kitchen - hob, oven, plenty of cupboard space and equipment for cooking. Walk in shower - liable to flooding, but just turn the flow down a bit and it’s fine!
Plenty of sunbeds round the pool with little “holding for the day” behaviour - made aware of the “rules of engagement” for sunbeds in our arrival info and this seemed to work really well!! Pools were cleaned and tested very regularly, and had a mix of shallow and deeper water - both pools had children’s areas that were very shallow. Poolside towels can be hired for €10 each deposit, can be changed once a week and deposit returned when towels are brought back.
Restaurant was either buffet or from an
A La Carte menu - plenty of choice. We didn’t eat from the buffet (just not our thing - but looked lovely) and found plenty to eat on the menu - chicken goujons, Iberian croquettes, steak and BLT and chips were all very tasty. We also ate at the pool bar (wasn’t open everyday, but think it’s limited outside of peak season), which is a really nice facility and lunchtime option. The restaurant is open breakfast, lunch and dinner, so each meal is covered if you want to eat there!! We found it great to have the option, and had evening meals here 3 times during our week.
On-site mini market is very well stocked - including PG tips and Nescafé :-) !!! Open every day other than Sunday, which was really helpful. We also used the Spar in the shopping centre (mentioned below) as we were often passing, it was just as close for carrying, and involved less steps!!! (The complex is on a hill, but with ramps throughout).
Location wise, if you go straight out of the bottom gate of the complex, turn right and then left (just before Sol Lanzarote gates) to the shops and restaurants in a small shopping centre - about a 5 minute walk. The same to the seafront promenade - just a few minutes away. If you turn right at the seafront you can walk round to Los Picallos for more shops and restaurants, and then keep walking to Puerto Del Carmen (about 80 mins walk through to the old town). Alternatively, if you turn left at the seafront and walk for about 15 mins, you will find the aeroplane viewing point - definitely recommend for watching landings and take offs!! Taxi ride to Puerto del Carmen was about €10 if you don’t want to do the walk.
We really loved this quiet little complex, good location and plenty for all ages - pools, tennis, spa, small games arcade, pool tables, bar area. Mix of families and couples of all ages - just a really lovely feel. We haven’t visited before it changed to be a Ilunion complex so don’t know what’s changed, but for us, this was still a really wonderful complex and we will definitely be back. Thank you Costa Sal and staff!!

We stayed in a 2 bedroomed Luxury Villa (621) and it was fantastic. Very modern inside with a minimalistic and high end feel. There was a large HD TV in the living room and both bedrooms had a flat screen TV on the wall. The main bedroom has a very wide bed and en-suite with safety deposit safe ( €24 ) per week but you will get 10 back as your deposit. The second bedroom has two single beds.
A full sized fridge freezer and fully functional kitchen which was more than ideal for a relaxing week away from the winter blues and on this occasion the Corona Virus Pandemic. Taxi back from Lidl €6
The outside area has a table and chairs, parasol along with two sun loungers and a Jacuzzi.
The outside area is almost completely private so you could sunbath until your heart is content if that is your thing! As an extra bonus there is also a washing machine and drying area allowing you to freshen up any beach towels or clothes if you are traveling with young children or a messy eater.
We booked through Jet 2 , however on arrival the reception will give you a price list for the different types of accommodation here and if booked direct a discount would be applied.
We have stayed here before at a 1 b/room apartment but it was nowhere as nice as this ( overlooking the tennis courts )
Disclaimer! It was very peaceful when we were there but we had a young family next door to us , if it had been two young couples or a group of young men or women who like to party it might not have been so quiet .

we have been going for 11 years and we always stay in the villas with the hot tub the villas are in great condition and the cleaners are very nice and do a great job of the villas and the villas are very spacious and lovely views I give the villa 5 stars what is very helpful is that a 2 minutes walk there is the Costa Sal shop underneath the reception desk and they they bake lovely fresh rolls and bread every morning and the bread or rolls are still warm when you get them or 5 minutes away there is a little outdoor shopping centre with restaurants, shops, and a lovely spar. It is close to the beach and you can walk to the airport and watch all the airplanes and that I give costa Sal a 5 stars for location the restaurant is lovely for food the waitress and waiters are very nice some can be a few rude and the price for food is not expensive and get the value out of your money some days but the food is lovely it's great for kids as during the season there is lovely kid clubs and the pool is very nice it's very warm there is an entertainer but during the day the pool gets very noisy as the entertainer gets into the pool and plays a football in the pool and then goes to the bar and plays a lovely games if bingo and it does get very noisy. Costa Sal also has a lovely playground near enough to the pool and a few stairs later there is bungalows as we stayed in them years ago and you open your door and there a lovely pool and baby pool as it is smaller than the main pool and the bungalows are lovely and perfect for maybe younger families the reception workers were very helpful and nice aswell that gave us lots ofd advice about Lanzarote and what to do I would definitely recommend Costa Sal!

We stayed at the Costa Sal Matagorda for 2 weeks Self Catering from the 31st Jan too 14th Feb.
We were in a 2 bedroom apartment I had asked in advance to be Ground Floor and as near to the pool as possible
this request was granted on arrival and i have to say we were so pleased with the apartment it was literally 15 secs from the pool which as my wife is disabled this was a godsend as she could get to the pool without any trouble.
The apartment its self was a great size very large sitting room and with a full-size kitchen including a fridge freezer and full cooker. The outside patio was very big with table chairs and 2 sunbeds set in peaceful gardens
The Cleaning of the Apartment was second to none and the Cleaner was first class always polite and Friendly
The whole complex is so clean and tidy and all the staff are so helpful. We did not use the restaurant as we were S/C so cannot comment on the food. The onsite shop is fine for any of your shopping and is well stocked.
Overall we had a very good 2 weeks at the Costa Sal and we are planning on returning for next May

Can't fault in any way.
Been here about 3 years ago and thought then that it was good value for money and a great place to stay.
Back in October we where thinking about a winter break where do you get warm dry weather in January , Lanzarote ok where do you stay,
Tried and tested is always best so i looked up Costa sal villas price was very reasonable we have been before and was very happy the last time so we booked.
Arrived Saturday to be met with a short taxi ride about 15 euros (with descent tip) 15 mins from airport don't bother with transfer not worth the hassle. Arrived at Costa sal
reception, receptionist could not have been happer to see us, apartment spotless yes there are some marks on the floor caused by furniture been moved to open bed settee 809 ground floor not a great view over the tennis courts but been on the ground floor you get an area of AstroTurf with 2 sun beds upstairs apartments only get tables and chairs. 2 main pools not that warm in January larger pool 24 dgr smaller one 25 dgr plenty of sun loungers gardens spotless paint work immaculate.
The site is immaculate. Alrighty you will always get smokers who don't give a dame but that will happen anywhere.(thankless task picking up other people's cigarette buts)
Food and entertainment is first class,
Even out of season can't thank the staff enough for there hard work,
Will we cone back why not you won't find better and the weather is great.
Thanks for a. Great week in the sun.
Shame we have to go home.

We stayed for 14 nights on Lanzarote, the first part of our stay was in a superb villa with its own pool, which cost less per night than Costa Sal but we wanted a chill out in this area at the end of our stay. We booked directly with Costa Sal, on arrival we were allocated our room and told that if we wanted to use the safe there was an additional cost, I asked that as we had booked directly with them and paid full price that I would have expected the safe to have been included, I was told that the safe was nothing to do with them it was operated by another company and it was a service that they provided and it was a take it or leave it situation. Come on Costa Sal greeting customers with negatives is not a good start.
Anyway the room, 103 was in a very good location, ground level, close to the pool and reception. A great bathroom, though the rest of the apartment was ready for an update and there were some shabby areas though it was very clean.
The pool area is excellent and was scrupulously cleaned each morning and the water was warmer than the sea. The pool is attended from 11 to 5 by a friendly lifeguard.
The complex is large and very well maintained with lovely and varied plants. Its sits on the side of a hill with reception in the north west corner, the main pool is in this area, there are flights of steps which lead down the hill to Villas and another smaller pool, there are gated exits at various points on the perimeter.
There was entertainment around every other day in the restaurant. Malcolm Kindness an Irish singer was excellent though there were only around 8 of us listening to him.
There is a basement supermarket which was good.
The Czech lady from Prague on reception was fantastic, projecting customer care at its best. The receptionist on our last day was very helpful with advice regarding our passenger locator form.
From reception , across the road and down a short path are bus stops.
We had great neighbours, and the hotel guests, mainly British Irish and Norwegian were very friendly.
The complex has a very nice vibe and it grew on us.
We had a car, so each morning we went down to Playa Chica where there was very good snorkeling.
We ate up in Tias a couple of times at La Conejera, though there are lots of other restaurants both locally and in Tias.

Dear Guest Thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay in 103, lovely apartment a few steps from the pool, bar and restaurant. The pools are heated to 22-24 degrees, so perfect for a swin or for the kids to play and have fun. The girls in reception thank you for your kind words. They try their very best to make sure our lovely guests feel warmly welcomed, always with a smile trying to help with anything that might be needed. The safes are operated by an external company, they are insured up to 3000€ and there is a small cost for this, so even if you book directly, if the fee has not been paid, the insurance do not cover, we apologise for the inconvenience of this. Delighted to hear that you enjoyed the entertainment and that you overall had a good stay and we hope to see you with us again in the near future. Sunny Regards, The Costa Sal Team

WOW where do I start. Its been a year today since we came to Costa Sal (our house was being renovated hence the late review) Apartments are amazing so spacious we booked one next to the reception due to our soon having special needs and felt very safe. Huge big balcony that had the sun all afternoon. Beds are so comfy didn't want to come home.
Costa Sal food is amazing so we ate at the hotel most nights as they do fish and chip night and bbq and also curry we had them all ❤️.
Aussie bar on beachfront only a 5 minute walk is the best breakfast at 5.95 euro for full English.
20 euro for pedal bike for 1 hour seats 5 which we took right along the beachfront highly recommend.
Pools are cold in October due to the wind but the bottom pool is warmer as more shaded. Lots of steps down to smaller pool so make sure take lots of drinks and snacks. Great access through security gates onto beach and shops and the spar.
Shop also on site had everything you needed. We bought shampoo and conditioner etc at the shop as only 2 euro saved some space in our case.
Taxi into Old Town port was 6.40 euro with lots of lovely restaurants.
Checkout is great at 12 instead of 10 if you have a late flight like us at 8pm.
Kids club is fab 10-12 next to little park kids enjoyed dressing up clothes and crafts. John Mac did kids disco and was fab.
Orlando, Becci and especially the wonderful Carol are such an amazing team and an absolute credit to this hotel our first family holiday and one we will never forget. Miss you all and can't wait to come back xx❤️❤️❤️❤️

We booked a two bed superior appt and on arrival we were upgraded to a 2 bed,2 bathroom, luxury villa. It was a huge surprise. It was room 602 Inc a washing machine, hot tub and memory form mattresses, the beds were mega comfy. Large TV in main bedroom and 2 walk in shower bathrooms. Kitchen also Inc a dishwasher, but unfortunately, it didn't clean the pots, so we stopped using it. The staff are fantastic and so helpful. The complex is immaculate and all staff work very hard. I would like to apologize to our cleaning lady, as I didn't get time to tidy up before we left, so sorry for leaving it a little messy. I have no negative comments about this hotel, it's 💯 percent great. My in laws are still there, Roger and Carol, they are loving it. We will definitely return. We were self catering, however,we did have buffet breakfast on our last day, it was brilliant, fresh and tasty. Can't wait to return. Thank you to everyone from Rich and Amanda. Ps John who does the bingo is extremely funny and a great host 😃😃

Always like to start with the great positives of these apartments, we first stayed here and the end of the pandemic in October 2021, found it very quiet, no explanation needed!
We enjoyed our stay so much we booked a return trip for the following April 2022
The initial reception / greeting is very welcoming and friendly, the rooms we stayed in was an apartment on both occasions overlooking the main pool, they were extremely clean and well presented, the beds are so comfy I’m missing it already.
You get regular maids in to clean your room , we had a maid every morning sweep our patio
The room are very spacious, I don’t think you could get a badly located room on the site, because they all have something nice to offer,
You are not too far away from the beach, probably about a 10 minute stroll, beach are also nice a clean.
Various restaurants and bars not too far away if you prefer a change on the evening, I would say they are all family friendly
Lots of families around the pool and the pool has various depth so good for all.
The only reason I would give this my 5th star is the bar and catering is definitely letting the side down
When we stayed in October they had a pool bar open, which is great for children sand adults selling slushes, beer and midday snacks which were very nice too; we could see at the time that the pandemic had taken a toll on the hotels and staff, so it was great to support ££
Our return in April was different? The pool bar wasn’t open and the excuse was not enough staff !!! You had to use the main bar, restaurant for everything, so this meant if you were dining and the pool was still busy thus wasn’t ideal, very short sighted
The staff behind the bar were very rude and abrupt, did really give you that nice holiday feeling what you’re chatting with the bar person, no personality, imo
Rather than be disappointed, we eaten out for the remainder of our holiday in some very nice restaurants
The question is would I return? Yes I would but I think I’ll give it a year or so break
Hope this helps

Dear Guest Thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the apartment, like you say, all of them have something special to offer and a lot of them have beautiful sea views. The cleaners work so hard to keep up the high standard of cleanliness and they always try to pay attention to the little details, to make it that bit extra special. And of course we cannot forget the girls at reception, greeting our lovely guests with a smile, making sure every need is met. We have passed on your comments regarding the bar to the restaurant manager and we hope that next time it will be 5 out of 5! We hope we get to welcome you back very soon! Sunny Regards, The Costa Sal Team
