Couple of nights here to experience the Drakensberg area. Wonderful position high up on the slopes looking straight at Champagne Peak. We had 2 thunderstorms that were epically sized and provided great drama and entertainment. You can be in low cloud here whilst the valley is in sunshine. Buffet style very high quality food with good choices. Internet access only...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, adamsonbill We do often have very different weather to the valley. It does make for some guess work, at times, with regards to what the day holds. The free internet available in the main areas is simply because this far up the valley means that the bandwidth available is not...

On recommendation we spent 3 days at Champagne Castle and had a great escape walking through in the Drakensberg mountains. From the hotel it is an easy walk in to the National Park where we saw various buck and a lovely waterfall. Directly from the hotel there are footpaths leading to top of the mountain where there are breath taking...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, 62garryw It sounds like you had a wonderful walking experience with all that you got to see. It's not often that our guests return from walks having seen a variety of buck. How fabulous. We are very grateful to be located in this World Heritage Site. We recognise how fortunate...

We travelled to this hotel hoping to do some walking in what we were told was beautiful scenery! Alas, we couldn't see it. It was completely covered in cloud and for the full 3 days it did nothing but rain heavily. Obviously this is no fault of the hotel but probably colours my opinion. The hotel itself is comfortable, with...

Thank you for taking the time to post your review, Judek34 The weather has been extremely rainy, and we do understand that this was not what you hoped for and expected. Just over 12 months ago, because of the drought, we had an opposite set of problems. It has been an year or two of extreme conditions. Of course the...

The hotel is older but very well maintained. Rooms are clean, toiletries topped up daily, the gardens are lovely. Stunning views of the mountains from the bedroom (stayed in mountain facing room) and hotel patio. Nice big pool with towels provided there. 3 meals as well as teas are provided, buffet meals with a lovely selection of tasty food as...

This hotel has views to die for - beautiful dramatic scenery and this really sums up the place but the hotel rooms are looking very tired and in urgent need of refurbishment. Also, there has been no positive development whatsoever since we started visiting in 2014, returning every year since. The rooms lack air conditioning, a fridge so that you...

We had 8 nights at this hotel during a four week trip of the Drakensberg mountains and it was definitely our favourite. The location is stunning and so are the walks. The service was excellent and staff really friendly. The food was very good with fillet beef on a Sunday lunch being best we have eaten anywhere! We had a...
