Switzerland and northern Italy with their mountains and lakes are beautiful, but if you go to Valsolda in spring and stay at this hotel you'll make an unforgettable experience and you'll want to repeat without doubt. This family owned hotel is now managed by the third generation. It's a traditional Italian villa, very well maintained (I loved the old pictures...

I left my review few years ago when I stayed here with my American friends, who still remember the wonderful holiday spent in this beautiful corner of Lugano Lake. I stayed several times at Stella d’Italia, this year again, and I feel the need to post a new review to thank the hotel’s owners and their staff for the wonderful...

The hotel is located in a small hamlet, adjacent to Lake Lugano. There is covered parking for EUR 12/day. However the car keys need to be left at front desk due to row parking. They will be kept within easy access to anybody entering the establishment, not very secure (might want to leave your Jaguar at home). The hotel itself...

I came here 61 years ago with my parents and was prepared to be sad, or disappointed, and I wasn't! Much has changed / modernised, but not too much and the hotel is now managed by the grandson of the couple who we knew. It is in an idylic position on the edge of the lake. There is a jetty...

We stopped for a nearly too-late lunch at the lakeside grotto at this hotel, and regard it as a highlight of an extended, late summer tour of much of northern Italy. The kitchen and serving staff probably worked a little later than they hoped, but all were gracious and attentive. The food was fresh, local, and prepared and presented with...

Our room with a large balcony was fine, although the bathroom could do with a shower screen and the wallpaper was peeling. Welcome great A quirk to beware of. You can't just choose your dinner table. New arrivals sit far away from the lakeside, and gradually gain promotion to be closer out. Food great but menu sensibly limited and only...

When we were planning our trip to Lugano, we were dismayed by the extortionate prices - for very average, or even below average looking hotels. We looked a bit further out of town and the situation wasn't looking any different. We then came across Stella d'Italia (about 15mins drive from Lugano town). Nothing much from the outside - in a...

Stayed in this hotel with a group May 2016. This family run hotel is right on the water's edge of Lake Lugano, The outside dining area is under trellises and trees, very pretty. The room I was in was very nice, clean, with every amenity needed and a balcony overlooking Lake and gardens. Breakfast was buffet with waiter service in...

The property is very nice. I loved our room with the balcony and I loved the terrace where we had dinner and breakfast. However, even though it is a very lovely hotel, it is also very, very dated. The staff at the reception was also very nice though. All in all a very pleasant stay. Only the restaurant staff was...

Located on the shores of Lake Lugano in the small town of Valsolda the hotel is excellent from every perspective- staff , location , tranquility , confortable rooms all with lake views , swimming pontoon , good wifi , and very pleasant public areas and shady terrace. The restaurant is outstanding although the portions are quite large - not a...
