A welcoming staff and fantastic service and food in the pub, on our arrival. It was late and the kitchen staff produced amazing meals.The waiter and manager were friendly and attentive. On arrival in our family unit, the accommodation seemed tired and in need of a good clean for dust and cobwebs and a little TLC for maintenance. The door on the en suite bathroom had no way of closing properly for privacy, no shower curtain and the supposed hand soap was a funny smelling, extremely runny liquid. It was on pulling back the covers on the bed that completely sealed the 'dirty deal' as the bed sheet was filthy. Fortunately I had a blanket in the car. Next morning I went to make coffee, only to find the 2 teaspoons had been used by previous guests and placed in the basket without being washed. I don't mind old and rickety accommodation, but this place was dirty!…
Travelling from Johannesburg, we were headed to a favorite guest farm, near Van Reenen. We decided that we'd do the small detour into Swinburne, a village we know, for lunch, and then proceed on our way. Happily we found the 'Hound & Hare' restaurant. Rustic charm, and a warm welcome with a great menu (something for everybody). Good food and service all set in a garden setting, and a welcome break from the large petrol company service centres on this route. Accommodation also available and a garden setting with pool.…
We went there for a function on the weekend. I did not even know the Inn existed until I was invited to the Hound & Hare. The Room was very neat with a warm fireplace for the chilly Saturday night. When we got there, there were many People having lunch. The evening meat was divine and the hospitality of the Staff were amazing.…
Perfect spot for a one night stop over. With such great rates one is pleasantly surprised. Loft does get a little hot though. Do visit the pub! Prices are very reasonable and the food delicious. Will definately return.
What a quaint little Country Inn - basic, clean accommodation. A lovely stoep to sit on and relax. The Hound & Hare offers great wholesome food at affordable prices with a lovely fire for those cold windy nights. Would definitely recommend a stop for a quick lunch whilst on route to or from Johanesburg.…
