We had an excellent stay. The welcome was lovely, very personalised. The accommodation was great - very clean and cosy. The room was spacious and well decorated. Views of the village were superb from our room. The food was amazing and the staff catered for my coeliac disease perfectly (homemade gluten free bread and good menu choices). The atmosphere in...

Decent sized and comfortable rooms. Excellent situation for walks or hiking. Dog friendly. Food is traditional but exceptionally well done every time. Book your table as this place is very popular with locals and tourists.

We used to be regulars at this location and in our absence the owner is missing and service was deplorable. Only us at the bar. Ten minute wait before eye contact. "Be with you in a minute". Finally menu and drink. The cods finished, the beefs finished, the poussins finished. Okay lamb then. Shown to a dirty table, waited another...

The accommodations at The Golden Lion were very comfortable --- a spacious well-lit room with large windows, a desk and love seat. The rain-head shower was the best -- so nice to get power-cleaned after a long day on the Coast to Coast. The dinner menu was exceptional with chalkboard specials of the day -- this is not your run-of-the...

Excellent location and service,Food of a high standard but you would have to book an evening meal in advance. The room was very high quality and personal service at breakfast time Busy bar but friendly service. A bit of a wait to book in as we had to wait for bar staff to become free to show us to our...

Osmotherely is one of the most charming small towns in the UK and the Golden Lion Pub's fare is quite a cut above. The menu has real flair and food delivers. We had a chickpea, corn fritter with coriander and a harassa sauce w creme fraiche to begin (also the home baked bread was exceptional). For our mains my husband...

Osmotherley is another village slightly away from the Coast to Coast path, but well worth it for two reasons: 1 It breaks an otherwise very, very long day and; 2 It has a few accommodation options. I would have to rank the room comfort and situation for Golden Lion among the best of the trip, with a simple powerful shower...

Lovely village and excellent accommodation - spacious bedrooms well furnished and with powerful showers. The bar downstairs is given over to dining or at least it was this evening and we had a delicious meal. I started with pea and ham soup, followed by poussin and for desert a very creamy ice cream - one of the best evening meals...

This was one of the best places we stayed at during our Coast to Coast walk. We enjoyed exploring Osmotherley and coming back to really nice rooms and restaurant - highly recommended, would love to revisit.

The Golden Lion is a step above many of the other other (quite nice) lodgings we stayed in on the Coast to Coast Walk. It's a charming spot and the rooms were beautifully decorated. Exquisite draperies, luxurious shower, comfortable room -- all designed to pamper. Osmotherley is another beautiful village along the C2C. Dinner in The Golden Lion's restaurant was...
