Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is, without doubt, the worst, most overpriced, badly staffed establishment I have ever been unfortunate enough to visit. I stopped by this evening with my partner and 3 kids. The restaurant was noisy and messy so we decided to eat on the terrace. You get your own menu and place order at the till. There was a few ahead of me and the young staff were more interested in chatting and organising their night out than serving .. Looking around there was no sign of a manager or anyone with authority on duty. Hard to tell who was who as no-one wore name tags. I have been at a high level in the catering trade for over 20 years and this place was more like a staff canteen than a restaurant. We ordered- I x cheese pizza-12.95( frozen bought in pizza base/ skim of tomato sauce and a sprinkling of cheese) 2x chicken fillet burgers-€14.95-these were disgraceful.1/2 chicken fillet on brioche bun with limp lettuce and chips that had been cooked in week old oil. 2 kids sausage and chips-€7.95-2 sausages that had been sitting in a Bain marie-again same awful chips. 2 portions of onion rings that cost €4 but I was charged €6.95 for. 1 bowl of chips at €3.50 that I had to return as they were literally the scraps of the chip basket. 2 cans Diet Coke at 1.50 Sprite at 1,50 2 capri sun at 1.50 The price was over €80. Half of every thing was left on the plate. The tables were filthy, bins full, staff wandering around. Aimlessly chatting and collecting donuts to bring home. They were very clearly disinterested in their jobs. I was given a refund when I complained about being overcharged for the onion rings (5.90) I asked to cancel a bowl of chips and return the inedible ones (€7) It took over 5 minutes for the clearly un—trained teenage till operative to figure out what amount to refund me. At the end of the meal I spoke to what looked to be a senior member of staff and complained about the standards of the food and the ridiculous pricing-she said the staff constantly mentioned it to the manage. I had thought I might take my kids to the park for a weekend. I can tell you I will never, ever darken this dumps doors again. I have not issue paying for good food and tipping well for good service. I left this place feeling like I had been physically robbed. Avoid at all costs. you’d be better burning your money than spending it here.

We had a great few days away here as we always do. We come here every summer , the kids absolutely love it . The additions to the site are great. There are a few negatives though in comparison to our previous stays here. Firstly the quality of food in the restaurant has gone downhill big time. We would normally have eaten dinner here most evenings but ended up going up the town the last two. The cleanliness of the shower block has also gone downhill . I ended up mopping the shower myself two mornings and for other people. Lastly we always do the laser tag and know exactly what games are played. We arrived early but the lads running the game didn’t arrive over until two minutes before the start time . Between giving the safety talk and setting up teams etc it ate into everyone’s hour of play. The kids were very disappointed as it had been mentioned at the beginning we would be playing in the other area. Not good enough at all for the price we had payed . If you ask people participating to be there early then surely the staff should be there waiting?? Also half the guns were not working and people were playing with broken guns .The prices for food and activities have dramatically increased . Management need to sort out quality of food as price does not reflect the quality. Current laser tag guns are well past use by date , need to invest in new set of guns as the cost for a family to play this game is a lot and the customer deserves better

Brilliant week spent here with our children aged 12 and 4. My 4 year old was so excited with the new junior splash this year as she just had to watch last year when the older one done the aqua splash. They loved the new snow tubing and the new additions to the play park. They also loved the river and playing in it every evening. We went to bingo, the kids disco and the cinema which they also enjoyed. Maybe could charge a little for the bingo and have a cash prize fir the winners. The restaurant food was ok only downside no cooked breakfast on offer. The centra in the town is good value and they have a hot food counter and deli counter. We got sandwiches made for a picnic. The campsite is in a good location for visiting Dublin only an hour or so to Tayto park and Dublin zoo. The facilities on campsite are good only downside is some caravans couldn’t get parked when they checked in I think it would be better to have numbered pitches and you pick a pitch number when you book. The showers stopped working one evening and the cleaner was so helpful when I spoke to her and she was on the phone right away to get someone to come and fix them. The girl that done the disco was really nice and tried to get all the kids to join in. We had a great time and the weather was fab.

Stayed in the Hidden Valley resort for 4 days this week. We were very surprised how modern the site is. Greeted by a lovely young lady on a dreary wet Sunday. Got a pitch over looking the Kayaking lake, solid, level pitch without any adjustment. Facilities are all very clean. Kids (11,9,5) entertained every day with the crazy golf, kayaking, bumper boats, aqua splash etc. Our youngest was very impressed with the playground, and work on going adding more facilities to this area. Restaurant gave great value for money and portions were very good. I think it's important to give a good report when we come across a very well run place. Staff all over the site very polite and mannerly and helpful at all times, not something we can say too often in this day and age. So much so we're gonna probably book for the full week nxt year for the same period. I ment to say all the entertainment costs extra (excluding playground) but there is value and security in the knowledge the kids are safe in everything they do.👍🏼

My daughter was here with a group of friends and had a great time. Unfortunately she lost her phone and it hadn't turned up by the time they left. By ringing the phone, I eventually got through to Kelly in the Lake House, who told us it had been handed in. She was very helpful and passed it to Theresa in Reception to send back to us. Then Theresa informed me that her colleague, Claudia, would drop it back to our door. This was so kind and helpful of everyone concerned.

We've been coming here with our family for years. Our older children experienced the camp fires by the river at night. Although that's not allowed anymore there is plenty to keep the children and adults entertained. We've also enjoyed the Christmas experience here we stayed in the boutique lodge and our daughter loved every minute of it. We stayed in a cabin on Halloween and the kiddies enjoyed trickor treat at night and the monster mash that day. Staff are very helpful and friendly. We've convinced family and friends to come down and they've thoroughly enjoyed it too.

Really disappointed.my sister accidentally booked here instead of river valley. Easy mistake to make. She realised her mistake and contacted hidden river by email as phones weren't been answered. She had paid when she booked and requested a refund apologising for her error. They refused to give a refund. Really bad form. I emailed pleading for them to reconsider and my email wasn't answered. Won't be ever returning here again as think it was very unfair. So be very careful when booking.

Last Saturday we had our little boys 9th birthday party in hidden valley. We had a group of 17 in total that took part in laser tag, brilliant activity, the two lads running the laser tag were brilliant with the kids. Afterwards we had food organised in the lake house restaurant. I couldn't fault anything, the service and food was amazing. there was one girl in particular called Lorraine, I can't thank her enough for overlooking every detail. Highly recommend hidden valley, we will definitely be back again.

Dirty toilets. Everything costs money and no customer service at all. Too Americanised considering the beautiful location. Could definately be more nature friendly. Not suitable for vegans at all. Don't treat their staff well at all.
