Today a great climb from Zafferana Etnea to Mount Etna, we arrived in the historical Rifugio Sapienza. We had a wonderful arancino with spinach and the possibility to have some minute for relax. Wonderful!
Sapienza is a bit of a dominating building in the area, and is The meeting place or place to get to before continuing your climb up mt etna. Some rooms have absolutely stunning views, especially the ones with a small balcony! Otherwise its a small comfy guest house that ticks the basics well, especially after a long day hiking etna.
Everything is very well organized and although there are big queues all goes very fast. We didn't go to the crater because Etna had eruptions, but they still charged us for guide services. Etna is worth seeing even though the price of 140 EUR for two persons is too high
Tremendous location just near the cable car to Etna vulcano. Rifugio offers discount for cable car. The room and bathroom were clean, WiFi was working fine. Good breakfast (mostly sweet products like crossaints and cakes but also some eggs and ham were available). Breakfast contained coffee and juice as well. Very helpful people working at the reception desk. We got some information about the area. We didn't have any problems to communicate in English. Small parking available. As for drawbacks, our room was too dark (very small window) and we didn't have good view on literally nothing (I don't know if there were any rooms for the same price with better view). The room looked better in pictures than in reality.
Friendly staff, clean, nice rooms, all the necessities included. Dinner and breakfast options are great and for reasonable price. Pizza is really tasty and we had it packed even for the second day snack. Nice housewine. And the location is great. Few steps from telecabine and perfect for just walk around after late arrival.
Friendly reception staff, comfortable beds in the double rooms with ensuite. Clean and private and reasonable price. Good breakfast. Have dinner at the restaurant, good portions and reasonable prices. The accommodation can provide discount to Volcano excursions. Free, convenient parking.
In a fantastic place, you can eat, sleep, do excursions, relax and enjoy the volcano's eruptions at night. It is really worth. Quite close to the towns around the mount which you can ist everyday and enjoy local food and culture.
We stayed only one night but loved it. The restaurant pizza was yummy - generous pour on the carafe of house (delicious) red wine. The room was basic but super clean with amazing views. We were able to walk to and around a crater and even take a small hike up behind the hotel.
On our two day whistle tsop trip to Catania just to see Mt Etna when we knew the weather woudl be good enough - we'd missed out before in March - we decided to stay right on the mountain at the Refugio. ITs almost an hours drive from Catania and we wanted to be there early for the 9.15 tour we'd booked. The rooms looked great, and they were. Very comfortable bed, lots of pillows, wifi. No tea or coffee, but a great place to stay, right at the foot of the cable car. Breakfast was included, continental, lots of pastries, cereal, cheese and ham, even "almond drink" which was very sweet almond milk. We also ate in the restaurant - reviewed separately. A great price too, £60. Just rememeber (As I found out to my cost) to bring euros - there's no ATM in the whole complex let alone the hotel and its a 20km drive to the nearest one.…
Arriving from Catania pedalling my Road Bike, I have arrived in Rifugio Sapienza on Etna Volcano, great espresso coffee, staff very kind, very good the tipical Sicilian Fast food (arancine, pizza, schiacciate etc)
