Ocean front suite. Balcony. Trade winds. Amazing staff. More like friends after a week. Really nice food. Lovely room. My companion played a lot of tennis with one of the pros, and loved it. Have stayed in some amazing places in this world, but I will be what they call a "returner" at Half Moon.
For those that just want the short simple version- Absolutely incredible place to go as a large group, for the money paid. Big property lots to do very friendly staff. Villas are dated and could use some updating but really small price to pay for one of the best family group vacations we ever took. For more details and in depth review see below.... We rented a 6 bedroom Villa and we were a group of 9 people. We stayed in Villa 99 to be exact. It was the best family vacation we ever had. These extremely large and well designed villas are the prefect choice for families and friends that want to travel together and don't want to rent a bunch of hotel rooms. Each Villa has a dedicated staff just for your Villa. The staff includes a butler, chef, and housekeeper. The chef sleeps in the villa (completely in separate quarters) this way they are available to you 24/7. The butler tends to your EVERY NEED. All they want to do is make your vacation perfect. They coordinate with the chef regarding food menu's when you want to eat and where (indoors, outdoors, and so on) we even had friends in other Villas and we wound up having one huge dinner one night and it was perfect. Our Butler O'niel really went above and beyond for us. The Chef dawn was a delight and every meal she prepared was just scrumptious. We were also under very strict Kosher diet and Dawn made sure to accommodate our instructions perfectly. (We had the Chabad Rabbi come in before our stay to kosher our kitchen and grill but I'll talk more about that at the end). Joy was our housekeeper and always made sure everything was clean, beds were made based on our schedule (some kids wanted to sleep in). Remember the staff is dedicated to your villa so they work around your schedule, not like in a traditional hotel when you miss housekeeping your room doesn't get cleaned. She also did the laundry for us as well. The experience started right after we made the reservation. We were emailed within 24 hours from when we booked by Audrey. She scheduled a call with me to discuss who is coming and what preferences we like. She put together an AMAZING itinerary, and took care of the arrangements for each day. We even got an organized list of who to pay and what form of payment is accepted so we can be sure to be prepared. I highly recommend you asking the hotel for a layout of your Villa because each category is laid out differently. If found this very helpful in deciding where me and my wife will sleep and each kid got to pick out their room. You can have them set the room up with either a king bed or 2 twins. You can also coordinate with them in advance regarding doing some pre-shopping to stock your villa in advance with some staple items from the mini mart on premises. Every room is very specious and includes bathroom with shower. Most rooms have tubs in it as well. Some rooms have balconies or sitting areas. The pool was cleaned every morning and plenty of chairs and around to relax. It should be noted that the Villas are a bit dated however the location, service, and overall convenience really made up for it. There are not a lot of pictures on the internet so I took as much as I can to give you a sense. We were very lucky to have the ocean view Villa which made it even more incredible. For the Kosher folks out there, the hotel works directly with Chabad and are extremely accommodating for Kosher travelers. There is an extra fee involved which was very fair and in return you get a complete kosher kitchen with 2 sinks, 2 sets of dishes, cutlery, and all cooking utensils needed. We brought in our raw Kosher food from the States and you need a permit do to so. It is VERY EASY be in touch with Chabad and they can help you. The property sits on 400 acres so they give you 2 Golf Carts to use as well as bikes for everyone in the room. The biking was easy really no hills (and very refreshing since most of the ride is along the beach on a paved road) I hope this review was helpful.…
We visited the half moon resort and it was excellent. The house we stayed in was very nice, clean and the staff was awesome. The food was great, amenities far exceeded my imagination. This resort is not only good for adults but also for kids. Great balance. For all golfers out there, the golf course was in wonderful condition. A special call out to Kevyn Cunningham, the head pro. My daughter and I went to the range every day and he spotted us and came down to the putting green and gave my daughter a lesson on putting and then took her to the range to help her with her swing. He is the utmost professional. My daughter still talks about him. Highly recommend Half Moon
Whenever your imagination takes you to a place where you see yourself totally relaxed, at peace and comfortable. This is the spot..My Daughter and I made that dream a reality by vacationing at the newly built Eclipse section of Half Moon. Carole greeted us at the Front Desk with professionalism, grace and a big warm smile. From there, I knew it was going to be perfect... Our room was beautiful, clean, spacious, with a luxurious, island chic feel. We had the best massages with Sophia and Sanje, who were well-trained and of course, professional and very polite. Tanya is doing an exceptional job in the Spa. Everything at the resort was spotless and followed COVID protocols. We enjoyed our delicious, gourmet meals in all the restaurants . Presentation, quality and taste were consistently outstanding . Thank you Lavonne for the big welcome and attention to detail. Michelle at the lovely poolside was so kind and charming. She was able to procure a coconut ,surprising my daughter. You can’t pay for that kind of thoughtfulness, it just warms the heart. The yoga class was also exceptional- Gabriele takes so much interest in ensuring poses are done properly. I enjoyed walking around the perfectly landscaped gardens, enjoying the lush greenery, brilliant fuchsia Bougainvillea and other tropical plants. It was nice talking to Gregory, the gentleman who looks after them. Thank you Half Moon for an unforgettable, truly happy experience . …
Just finished an amazing 6-night stay with my wife and kids (ages 4 & 6). It was our first trip to Half Moon and in the time of Covid we had tremendous concerns, but things could not have gone better. First, the hotel is magnificent. We stayed in an ocean suite technicially in Founders Cove but steps from the new and lovely Eclipse area where most of the action was (due to relatively low occupancy from Covid). I wasn't sure how the layout worked from the website with Founders Cove vs Eclipse but everything is accessible and very easy to navigate. The room was excellent and steps from the beach. The water is calm and warm with shallow coves where our kids could splash and play freely without constant supervision. It was essentially a private beach just off the room. The grounds are absolutely beautiful -- true paradise. The website and other photos I saw really don't do it justice. It's a big place with a lot to offer. We did golf, tennis, horseback riding, glass bottom boat ride, water sports and more. All of them were top notch and arranged with ease. We also sent the kids to the children's village several of the days and they LOVED it. Monica and Tashae run a wonderful program with crafts, swimming, and all sorts of other activities for kids in an adorable little village built just for them. We were able to enjoy some needed down time (hello world-class spa) knowing the kids were safe and happy. I really can't say enough about the staff in general. Everyone knows you by name and is ready with whatever you need in that friendly and earnest Jamaican way. Just wonderful people at every area make this place very special. As for Covid, we had pre-trip concerns but felt incredibly safe the entire time. The hotel goes above and beyond with sanitizing, distancing etc and is large enough that even at full occupancy there's plenty of room to spread out. The CDC guidelines requiring a negative test to return went into effect during our trip and the hotel made it effortless for us to get tested. They co-opted a billiards/games room off one of the pools and did testing on premises. Our kids popped out of the pool, got swabbed and were back swimming in 3 minutes. We got the results that afternoon and uploaded them to the airline with ease. The food was also excellent -- and while we're not picky we do have high standards and don't usually love resort food. I will say the food prices are a bit high...it's to be expected at a resort but they really ding you which I didn't love. We also could have used a little more variety (especially for lunch) but that's another function of Covid and not all the restaurants being open. I recommend going to scotchies in town at least once for some seriously good jerk. The hotel was not full at all, which in some ways was nice (we had most of the place to ourselves) but mostly bittersweet as you can see these wonderful people and places need occupancy to survive. It's a truly special place and I would urge anyone considering a vacation to RUN to Half Moon. We'll be back and I look forward to a time when I don't have to post about my kids getting swabbed, but such is the state of things. Anyway, Half Moon is a home run. Highly recommend.…
