If if you are alone and looking for cheapest place in nanital then its best place. Place is huge and food is also pocket friendly. Staff are nice in talking and help during stay. They should need to improve cleanses because bathroom was not neat and clean. Location is far from mall so you need to walk or need to take taxi, if you are visiting by own car then they have ample space for parking.
I must confess that it's The Most unhygienic & disgustingly dirty place that I've ever travelled in my entire memory of tours. I reached here in morning of 3rd June 2016 by about 8.45 AM leading a group of 19 comprising of 6 adults and remaining kids of 4 to 15 years of age. We booked a dormitory. We left the place in less than 30 minutes, for good. If it's of any use, following is my observation & experience; The floor of the gallery thru Entrance-Reception to the Dining Hall & the stairs to first & second floor are messingly smeared. Toilet on ground floor has an Anglo-Indian lavatory seat appears to not have been cleaned with a toilet cleaner ever. The pot's hole has thick layers of brown filth deposit. The adjacent room has two urinals of which the discharge pipe leaks and the floor of both these rooms of toilet is unhygenically smudged. Kitchen is very shabby & dark greasy with absolutely no cleanliness. Even filthiest platform's kitchen of Indian Railways would be far cleaner than this hostel's kitchen. First floor is a male-only dormitory while the second floor is a female-only version. The room given to us was on 2nd floor, housing 22 beds in tiers. Mattresses were full of foul smell and the blankets were pungent. Bed sheets were worn out, nearing completion of its life with no feel of being washed as these smelled of dampness. Floor had a completely worn out thinnest carpet, torn at several places. This floor had bathrooms where none of my team member would stand as its floor and walls were exactly the same rotten & greasy as in my description of ground floor toilet. We were then given the option to move to the first floor but then it's room and toilets and bathrooms were no different to my description of second floor. Finally, we were compelled to look for an immediate alternate arrangement and hence did not stay. P.S. My salute to those people who manage to stay here. There must be some compelling reason for them to stay in such unhygienic place. Bed charges: INR 80/- for children and INR 100/- for an adult, per day.…
what will you get in Rs 750? may be a t shirts. Imagine a two rooms with three beds in Nainital, yes thats all we have to pay. The mess chef name is Dhoni, where you can enjoy home cook food at a very reasonable rates. Owners are awesome,,,and yes they have got a huge parking space with greenery all around.
One needs to go slightly uphill for staying in Nainital Youth Hostel. Its hard to even imagine something cheaper in this hill town and is surely recommended if you are travelling alone. The place is only 2 km away from best attractions of the city. If somebody wants to plan trips to China Peak, Seven taals etc the same may be easily done. (One Rock Climbing training provider-- Nainital Mountaineering Club is quite near visit to which will refresh you.). Coming to the hostel-- basic amenities and food will be available to you at extremely cheaper rates. However, those who are used to five star services may avoid this place.
