We have had lunch here a few times and promised ourselves an overnight stay.
We kept our promise and stayed for one night.
An afternoon glass of wine in the sunshine overlooking the fabulous grounds and of course, the lake, led on into dinner.
This is a nice hotel, our room had a terrace overlooking the pool area and lake and was very pleasant to sit out to watch the sun go down.

Hi - well not on foot. If you have a car then yes. You could get to Velez-Malaga which is close by and overlooked but has some nice monuments and churches. There are several of the typical white-painted villages within 10KM. The coast would be most accessible at Torre-del-Mar near Velez-Malaga.
A bit further afield would be the marvellous Antequera.
