Detailed Reviews
Spent 1 night here in January. A very quiet B&B. The beds were very comfortable and the room temperature was just right. Had a few problems connecting to wifi, but managed in the end. There was no tea making facilities in the room but the owner very kindly brought up a tray with cups, sugar, milk, water and a kettle. The breakfast was good and it was included in the price. The B&B is situated just outside the gates of Strokestown Park and The Irish National Famine Museum. When the owner heard we planned on visiting there she gave us half price vouchers.
I will definitely return to this B&B if I'm in the area again.

Our group of students stayed here for the Famine conference and we couldn't have been happier. They were so accommodating with some of our particular dietary needs.
The breakfast was fabulous.
Marilyn and Gerry were so kind to us. Always quick to offer a cup of tea or listen to what we had been up to. Their kindness was phenomenal, even though I'm sure our pension for the pubs must have woke them more than once (which are just down the street and had live music every evening!).
They even flew a Canadian flag out front which we all found so amazingly touching.
A huge thank you to Westgate house. I'll undoubtedly be back.

I have to agree with the last reviewer . We had exactly the same experience- couldn't get in (we called in 3 times) and then the room wasn't ready ( about 5.45pm) and it smelt of cat pee. The bed was 4 ft wide and we had a pretty awful nights sleep as a result. The dining room looked liked the Mary Celeste but Marilyn did sort it out in the morning, same with the kitchen which was pretty chaotic looking. Not sure what's happening now to change things so dramatically from earlier reviews. It's not a B and B - it's more like an unstaffed hotel which has been given up on by the owner. Alexi polizzi would have a field day.

I saw reviews on booking.com that gave terrific reviews and i had to give my own. No one there-at all when we arrived. Wandered around yelling hello 10 times. She left a note to call her, but we had no phone. First impression was Abandoned. It was strange. One 'tenant' heard us yelling and let us borrow phone to call and she finally came in 20 min later...apparently working at a local pub. Hallway smelled mildewy, trash in entry, 'livingroom (no furnature at all), breakfastroom- food still on tables. Our room was #11, and that room was so mildewy smelling we bought air freshner. Bed uncomfortable, room didnt look very ckean, NO hot water in shower, kitchen was disgusting. Wouldnt even drink coffee there- went to local gas station. How this place gets anythi g over a 2 or 3 rating is beyond me. It actually has a sticker on door boasting a booking.com award winner for 2015. No way. This is as bad as a poorly run hostel. Couldnt wait to leave.

Great little B&B situated just off the roundabout and next to the entrance of Strokestown House/Park. Very friendly host with great local knowledge. Loads of free parking, very quiet and very clean rooms. Reasonably priced, comfortable bed and a great nights sleep. I would stay here again.

Just off the roundabout at the town square, nestled in a corner, this quaint little B&B is just lovely It sits right next to the Strokestown Famine Museum and is walking distance to several bars, drug store, and other small businesses. You could walk or drive the mile or so up the road to the Roscomon Geneaology Center if you're researching. The owners are very nice and had recently taken over the B&B when my mom and I visited in September. As such, there was a little bit of a learning curve at that time, i.e., breakfast wasn't open at the time we asked which put us late leaving. Overall, though, it's quiet and peaceful and very reasonably priced. Well worth the money.

We spent one night at Westgate House on our journey from Mayo to Dublin. It is in a great location just by the gates of Strokestown House and round the corner from most of the towns bars.
Parking is located directly in front of the property. We we greeted with a warm welcome. The room was a good size, although dated. The en-suite bathroom again was a good size, but the shower was disappointing and lacked power.
Breakfast was prepared to order.

Recently booked in to Westgate house and received a very warm welcome even though we arrived late! We were visiting a sick relative hence the brief stay. Our room was lovely, comfy bed and good size bathroom. Breakfast was a full Irish, very nice. Excellent location, easy parking right outside. Would not hesitate in booking again. Thank you.

Marilyn was a wonderful hostess and saw to all our needs. Her recommendations of what was "what" in Strokestown, as well as directions to surrounding areas. Close enough to the Famine Museum to walk into the Park. Highly recommend this B&B.

Hi, when I stayed there belfadt was extra. As we are vegetarian, I didn't purchase it. If you have a confirmation which states breakfast is included, then you will be fine? Maybe contact Westgate direct to make sure.
All the best and enjoy your trip.
