Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We pulled in here for some lunch on our way to Westport, and we were so impressed with the way the staff worked so hard to put us at our ease.
It was our first meal out together since the easing of restrictions and it was a bit emotional.
At the front door there is a hand sanitizer and a charming gentleman whose job it is to open the door for you and help you.
The waitress was equally charming.
We both had the roast pork, which was a really good piece of meat, served with potatoes, carrots and peas ( €23.90)
A generous side dish of properly made apple sauce accompanied the meal.
We both had a sparkling water (€5).
Would highly recommend this hotel, thank you.

We stopped here on the way back to Dublin from Mayo and found it to be a good, old school family restaurant. They offer half size roast of the day for kids which is always an appreciated option for families looking for a good healthy meal, something that is not spag bol, chicken nuggets and chips that seem to be on every kids menu nation wide. They also offered us a half size chicken curry for my daughter and she loved it. A very good pitstop if you are travelling east to west or vice versa!

The hotel is lovely, cozy, very well located and the staff is very friendly.
What was really brilliant is that their breakfast goes until 11:30 am which makes you relax a lot more by not have to wake up early.
The rooms were tidy and clean and the strokestown house museum is 5 minutes walk from the hotel.
Congratulations, guys !

My wife and I stayed at the Percy French hotel on New Year’s Eve. We were in the area for a funeral and, because of the circumstances we were not interested in the traditional entertainment which occurs at that time. Luckily the hotel didn’t have entertainment that night.
We were lucky enough to be given a pleasant room on the 3rd floor. Although there is no lift the climb was not particularly onerous. The room was quiet and we had a good nights rest.
The staff were pleasant and helpful. We had dinner in the hotel and were happy with the food.
My brother and sister stayed in rooms on the first floor and were kept awake for most of the night by talkers downstairs.
Their stay was not as pleasant as ours.
All in all I would recommend this hotel subject to the caveat above.

On entering the hotel there was an awful smell in the reception area.
Went in for food. Pancakes were all gone.
Tea was good and hot. Scones came out with cream and jam and were heated. The scones weren't great alot of dough in them and very tough. Just went as stop off on our way to the west. We wouldn't return. Filling station would be better.

This little hotel in Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland, is a gem. The manager, Ita, is a wonder! How can one person be everywhere at once? I don't how she does it, but she does. The rooms are on the small size but very comfortable. The staff is extreely helpful, and will provide all types of information. Sightseeing tips. Prompt securing of taxis. Name it and you will have it. The restaurant service is good and there is a good menu selection. The bus stop is right across the street and service is reliable. While in Strokestown, be sure to visit the Famine Museum. It is just two blocks from the hotel.

We went there for breakfast the last two Sundays, the food was delicious, staff were very helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend. The selection available for a vegetarian was really impressive and they had no problem if you ordered something not listed. My grand nephews ordered pancakes every though they were not on the meno and there was no problem providing them.

We travelled from an early flight from knock & this was the first place open for breakfast. We are a family of five & and they were more than welcoming. The menu had a virity of breakfasts to offer & reasonably priced. I had the full Irish,it was freshly cooked & piping hot. Ample tea, coffee & toast. The staff were exceptional & very friendly. The atmosphere in the dining area was bustling with locals all chatting to each other about the GAA match. It was lovely listening to the banter.
I would highly recommend it here for a stop off.
