We pulled in here for some lunch on our way to Westport, and we were so impressed with the way the staff worked so hard to put us at our ease. It was our first meal out together since the easing of restrictions and it was a bit emotional. At the front door there is a hand sanitizer and a charming gentleman whose job it is to open the door for you and help you. The waitress was equally charming. We both had the roast pork, which was a really good piece of meat, served with potatoes, carrots and peas ( €23.90) A generous side dish of properly made apple sauce accompanied the meal. We both had a sparkling water (€5). Would highly recommend this hotel, thank you.
My wife and I stayed at the Percy French hotel on New Year’s Eve. We were in the area for a funeral and, because of the circumstances we were not interested in the traditional entertainment which occurs at that time. Luckily the hotel didn’t have entertainment that night. We were lucky enough to be given a pleasant room on the 3rd floor. Although there is no lift the climb was not particularly onerous. The room was quiet and we had a good nights rest. The staff were pleasant and helpful. We had dinner in the hotel and were happy with the food. My brother and sister stayed in rooms on the first floor and were kept awake for most of the night by talkers downstairs. Their stay was not as pleasant as ours. All in all I would recommend this hotel subject to the caveat above.
the hotel staff and food was good however we were kept awake by 2 couples in the lobby until 5 in the morning and therefore got very little sleep, mentioned to receptionist in the morning with some sympathy expressed but didnt hear from management after that. the night porter was on duty.
This little hotel in Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland, is a gem. The manager, Ita, is a wonder! How can one person be everywhere at once? I don't how she does it, but she does. The rooms are on the small size but very comfortable. The staff is extreely helpful, and will provide all types of information. Sightseeing tips. Prompt securing of taxis. Name it and you will have it. The restaurant service is good and there is a good menu selection. The bus stop is right across the street and service is reliable. While in Strokestown, be sure to visit the Famine Museum. It is just two blocks from the hotel.
