My second visit to this fascinating hotel. The setting on the old city wall is excellent. The Roman temple ruin in the garden, the pool and the Tejo river view offer visual and cultural delights. The main building is packed with antiques, books, a self-service bar, and delightful rooms. Sergio and Claudia (and Claudia) are excellent, knowledgeable, helpful hosts. Santarém...

The Casa da Alcacova offers a beautiful setting, gracious hospitality, and very convenient location to walking into the town. We arrived in the early evening and were greeted by Eduardo, Claudia and Sergio's son, and his grandmother. They acclimated us with a tour of the portions of the home and grounds available to the guests and then showed us our...

This place is like staying at your rich relative's (that you never had) manor house. Beautiful setting inside castle walls with view of the river valley. Best place to stay in Portugal. The owners are very nice and helpful and make your stay perfectly nice.

This is an exceptionally beautiful hotel with a stunning view in an out of the way town. We used it as a stopping place between Porto and the Lisbon airport, less than an hour away by AP (fast) train and taxi. There are a couple of good restaurants within walking distance, but nothing special.

First of all, the Casa da Alcocova is in a breathtaking beautiful setting, nestled below the walls of the Castle (the walls of which form two sides of the property). There are two parts to the accommodation - the manor house itself and another building. My comments refer to the main Manor house. The manor house is very beautiful with...

Enjoyed our overnight stay immensely. Very friendly and proud owner who really took time to introduce us to this magnificent property. Ask for the owner's book to see how he restored the property to it former glory. We stayed in the casa itself as opposed to the outside garden rooms and were so glad we had spent the marginal increase...

What a gem! Set high in the walls of Santarem, this fully-restored manor house is decorated wonderfully! A mix of antiques and modern art. Very tasteful, and inviting. The small staff defines the word "luxury" and is so attentive. The owners are charming, and helpful. And the house is amazing, with Roman and medieval bits all over. The base of...

At the invitation of my brother and my sister in law I stayed at this recently restored Manor House and it was a very best experience for me. My bedroom and bathroom had all the comfort and charm of a royal dwelling. Excellent variety of food for breakfast was very enjoyable. Truly a breath of fresh air with regards to...

We stayed at this beautiful place on our 10th wedding anniversary. Sergio and Claudia were the perfect hosts. Not only were the room and establishment beautifully and tastefully done, we were accorded impeccable service. The food and wine(during dinner) was also faultless. HIghly recommended!
