Alexander The Great Hotel presents a mix of responses from guests. While the value for money is considered basic, extra charges for amenities like air conditioning detract from its cost-effectiveness. The rooms, often criticized for being outdated and sometimes unclean, also disappoint guests. The hotel maintains satisfactory cleanliness in general, with daily servicing and clean pools, but some areas need attention. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with music and entertainment, is a highlight, though noise can be an issue. Service quality varies, with reports of both friendly and unresponsive staff. The location, however, consistently receives praise for its beach proximity and tranquil setting.

Don't let other reviews put you off. This is a decent/above average budget Hotel. If some people want 5 star with free a/c then go to the Hilton. The restaurant was above average, sure it took time because of social distancing but there was always a good selection for everyone and it was spotlessly clean. Rooms were basic as expected but had everything you need and were cleaned every day and if you needed anything staff were always willing to get it. Rosina on reception was amazing nothing was too much trouble including a surprise Birthday Cake for my wife. That leaves Denis at the pool Bar who never forgot a drink and gave us many a laugh, a great guy. If you go to this Hotel do not leave your manners at home, the words please and thank you will get you what you want quicker than being rude

All the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels everyday or every other day but if you wanted fresh towels you only had to ask. The bar staff Thomas, Dennis & Philip were great, even in the busier period you was never waiting long to be served. The food wasn’t anything to get excited about but for the price of the all inclusive deal you got good value for money overall.

We arrived on the 12th August we checked out the room etc the rooms wasn’t bad but we had to pay for the a/c which we was never told as we went all inclusive the food wasn’t the best we ate out everyday, but the snack bar wasn’t that bad. We also got told it was age ranged between 18-30 years of age as it was meant to be a ‘party’ hotel but the slightest noise and we got a warning then got kicked out for no reason, we was also told on the first night that we’d get our deposit back when we returned the key to the safe yet on the day we checked out we didn’t get it back. Also, at 1:30 in the morning we had the maids trying to get into our room whilst we was sleeping which we found very strange!

First of all, dunno how this hotel gets customers. We were greeted with a grumpy guy behind the reception who was moody as anything and then told us we needed to pay a “nightly service charge” whatever that is which came to €30 per room (we had 3 rooms) and then said the air con was €70 for the 10 days that we were there. The food was awful so we didn’t even go most days due to it being disgusting meat and no options. I swear they didn’t clean our rooms the whole time we were there or change our towels we just had our beds made with the same sheets for all 10 days. The bar guy outside was moody and the drinks gave all of us heartburn so god knows what they were putting in it. However, the thing that got under my skin the most that holiday was one staff member. You’ll recognise him as he is fat and has a brown quiff, and he’ll probably be a d•••head to you. This guy first said something when me and my friends brought guests back to the hotel, which when we checked in we weren’t told that we weren’t allowed guests but even then you would think you’re bringing in people to a room you have paid for. He then proceeded to demand €50 per guest. One night he knocked on my mates door early hours in morning while my friend was asleep, so he opens the door and the fat hotel guy I’m on about accused him of shouting and being loud (even tho he was asleep) and then because my friend was in his underwear, proceeded to have a go at him for walking round in underwear, even though he was asleep and didn’t know anything ???? I couldn’t believe how we were being treated but then again we were met with abuse from staff like this on a daily basis always being told we’ll sleep on the streets. If this hotel had a score out of 100 it would get 2, 1 mark cause the ham and cheese paninis are nice by the pool, 1 mark for the pool. But yeah please don’t stay here don’t listen to other comments because at the end of the day you can stay somewhere cheap but still should be able to get some respeck . Safe

Greetings, The nightly service charge you are referring to is the overnight tax in Greece, and important detail that is mentioned on your tour operator's website when booking your holidays as well as your accommodation voucher. The overnight tax is 3 euro per day. It is not the hotel's responsibility that you booked your holidays while being oblivious of such an important matter. Concerning the matter of visitors in the hotel, upon arrival there is a stand listing all of the hotel's policies which again you failed to go through. The person you are referring to is the night shift receptionist and if he came to your room then he received a noise complaint from another room and had to take action as he has to maintain peace and quiet during the night in the hotel. Last but not least, no member of our staff has ever taken physical action against a guest, as you mentioned the receptionist "had a go at your friend for walking in his underwear". That is why we have security guards. Also, if your think that walking around the hotel in your underwear is normal behavior, then you should look for a hotel that will allow you to do so, though we doubt it. We hope your next holidays will match your expectations.

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. When booking this holiday, it was advertised that we would be paying for a one bedroom and living room with a pull-out bed also with a kitchenette. When we arrived at the hotel, we had met a lady who was the manageress and who had the most unfriendliest rude attitude we have ever met. Online we had paid for what had been advertised as mentioned. When checking in we were told that we would have to pay another £280 to have such a room with a living room and kitchenette. I had my Son of 16 years of age with us who understandingly did not want to stay in the same bedroom with us. Our plan was to have the living room with the pull-out sofa bed for us to sleep on and let my Son have the separate bedroom. Instead we had been told we could only have one room with 3 beds. Our only alternative was to pay for another separate room. The water in the shower and sink was always cold. The smell around the premises of the entrance was sewarage. This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. The meals were poor for all inclusive. If you read anything positive about this hotel and decide to take a chance, you’re going to be disappointed. I urge you not to use this hotel and pick somewhere else instead. Only one thing I will say is that young man behind the pool bar was a really nice well mannered guy.

As soon as you arrive, they demand your passports, this isn’t that bad unless they are put into a drawer without a lock. The receptionists also gave out spare room keys without asking for any identification. The “Room features” that they offer as complimentary you have to pay. For air con and a safe… €40 for air con and €20 for a safe. Without such safe, we had friends who were robbed by the cleaners of money (€450) and even GHD straighteners. The man behind the bar (Thomas) was degrading towards women and preferred to serve them over men. This was to the point where he’d serve a group of girls 3 times before any lad could get a drink. In addition, we also witnessed the manager fast asleep on the sofas in the lobby at 9am with an empty bottle of spirits in their hand. However, a bartender called Dennis was lovely the entire time and was one of the only members of staff who treated everyone with respect. The food was very repetitive and wasn’t very nice. We didn’t expect much as it was all inclusive but this was exceptionally bad with barely any vegetarian options for a full meal. If we could give it 0 we would.

Mr Will, We are sorry to hear you have had such a bad experience with us, however there are many claims in your review which are simply not true or misleading. First of all, the passport are absolutely safe in the drawer as the reception operates 24/7, so there is always a staff member present at the front desk. Also, we explained to you that instead of a deposit we would be keeping onto the passports, since the hotel has so many young tourists who often cause damanges to the rooms. Secondly, keys aregiven after asking for the room number and lead passenger's name if the receptionist is not certain about the client's identity. Thirdly, Air Conditioning costs 7 euro per day, while safety box is 15 euro per week. Those were all mentioned on your tour operator's website, while you were booking your holidays to our hotel. Furthermore, you never mentioned to us any incident of missing money or other property so we could look into it, while the incident where you claim to have seen the manager sleeping on a sofa with an empty bottle in his hand is simply a made up story. You have made many claims but you failed to report a single on of those to either the hotel management or your tour operator so we could sort out the situation or compensate you. We hope you book your next holidays to a hotel which matches your expectations.

If you are debating booking this hotel for your stay I highly advise you not to do so. Purchased all inclusive yet had to eat out every night as the food is cutting close to chewing cardboard. Absolutely inedible. Drinks is 1 per person and girls are highly prioritised. Soon as my mates and I arrived our room was flooded. There was bugs all over our beds. Think I woke up every day with a different bite mark somewhere. Have to pay for air con each night. The bartenders are raging n*nces. 3 people slit their foot open by the pool. Room service is non existent, and if your lucky enough to get it all they will do is make your bed and leave. I would have rather stayed in alchatraz for the week.

Don’t listen to the bad reviews
We are currently staying here myself & 3 kids, 28, 17 & 11 and I was worried prior to travel
We have a family room, bedding was clean, shower hot and air con works albeit noisy. Yes you pay extra for these but that’s what happens in Greece.

The food is as you’d expect. We have all found things to eat plenty of salad, chips, pasta, different meats & fish. The all inclusive drinks are watered down but again this is a budget hotel not 5 star & you can buy alcohol cheap enough in the shops
This is a lively hotel and a lot of young people but this means there’s fun round the pool and music
The pool area is washed down every morning as it can get s bit messy by the end of the day
Our room hasn’t been broken into but we payed for a safety box and used our common sense, carrying out money with us at all times. Yes main reception have our passports but again I’m used to this.
This is a budget hotel and we paid a good cheap price, if you want peace & quiet and 5 star luxury this isn’t the hotel for you.
Please don’t be put off by bad reviews I think these are from people with no common sense and not understanding what some Greek hotels are like

Greetings, first of all, we would like to thank you for your feedback on your stay at our property, but we would like to make one correction. The front desk keeps the passports only on the first day, to photocopy them. From the second day onwards, you are welcome to visit the front desk at any point during your stay to collect them. There must have been a misunderstanding during the check in proccess. Kind regards.

The hotel itself was alright , you get what you pay for and it’s cheap so take that as you please 😂 the bathrooms are shocking with no ends of problems for the toilets - the security guard is extremely strict but fair , if you keep the noise to a zero when you walk in you will have no problem - only one lady behind the reception ( don’t know her name but she’s a younger lady who speaks good English) , she is very respectful and helpful without complaining at all. However , all the other reception staff are rude and seem annoyed when they have to help you. The food is very bland and not great so I’d eat out. The people behind the bar are really nice and we made good friends with Andrew , a really nice bloke and happy to do his job. There are two pools , the one near the outside bar isn’t great and way to full , use the other pool on the restaurant side. The cleaners will randomly walk into your room if u don’t lock your room so lock it !! Mate had his money nicked off his side.

Overall it’s a very very basic hotel , has pros and cons but more cons. Aside from Andrew the legend.

We had a lovely room on the garden room floor overlooking the swimming pool. It was lovely and comfy. Room was cleaned daily and if towels hadn't been changed we asked the maid if she could give us clean ones, which she did willingly. Reception staff were friendly and helpful . We had no problems getting more than 1 drink at a time at pool bar. Yes there was sometimes a queue but so what? Wait in line or come back later. Bar snacks were tasty. Food was ok Typical AI that you find at hotels world over. Sometimes it was lukewarm but if you timed it right fresh trays piping hot were brought out. A microwave was on hand if you wanted to heat your food up. Beach was about a 10 minute walk away. Supermarkets bars restaurants on door step. Bus stop at top of road . Hire places plentiful to decide who gave you the best deal. We did a jeep safari which was fun and a good day out. Walked in the evenings down the strip without being hassled by people trying to drag you in for a drink (Maybe because we are an older couple) A nice hotel and well placed for everything within walking distance
