Cosy hostel in a truly exceptional location right by Mount Cook. Stunning views and beautiful walks nearby. Millions of stars overhead! Cosy hostel with log cabin style. Stayed in a twin private room with bunk beds. Clean room and nice shared bathrooms/toilets. Cosy shared kitchen and lounge area. Recommended!

I like the feel of the hostel as it is log cabin type which is perfect atmosphere for Mt Cook area. I like the concept of the drying area as were were able to hang our wet clothes dry free of charge. The common area is also great with an area to lounge and play the guitar, Video/TV area where...

Me and two friends stayed here for two nights just before the ski season kicked off in NZ, and we had a gloriously comfy stay. We were in a private room with a double bed and a single with great views out over to the Hooker Valley (although every room has a great view from every angle). The double bed...

Spent three nights there despite being considerably more geriatric than the "Youth" tag implies. Found it a very comfortable, friendly, well run hostel and a great base for exploring an exceptionally spectacular area. Was extremely satisfied.

On our way to the hostel, we were awed by the spectacular view from the snow-capped mountains. The location of the hostel is impressively splendid. The staffs are very helpful and friendly. They recommend us with activities that we could do around there. We stayed in an 8 bed dorm, which i think i slept soundly with -14 degrees outside,...

Modern, bright, clean kitchen with two ovens and plenty of hobs. Sauna available (wear your shorts / swim suit underneath towels). Clean, hot, strong showers. Nice cosy fireplace area. Dining area had fantastic views. Separate TV area which was useful as large groups could use this space but still leave the fireplace area for others. Private double room was lovely...

My daughter and I stayed at YHA Aoraki prior to doing an overnight trek to Mueller Hut. We stayed in an 8 bed dorm. The dorm was spotless, the bathrooms very clean even though they were used a lot, the kitchen well stocked with equipment and the communal areas were very inviting and comfortable. The staff were also very helpful....

I only stayed one night but it was without a doubt the best backpackers of my trip around the South Island. It was really clean and tidy, with a huge kitchen and very big common areas.
