Stayed there for 1 night couple days ago. I arrived in the evening and got my bed already. I wasn't very impressed at first, but then the staff being friendly and helpful would make at least much better impression. They do have a nice living...More

Hi, I am traveling in April with my daughter. We are not driving, but will be taking advantage of some of the bus tours. The one we looked at drops us off at Mt Cook Village. Is that near the YHA? How would we go about getting to the YHA if we are not near it? Thanks, Laura Quiza

Mt Cook is rather a small village, with few restaurants and accommodation options. So, when you get off the bus, it will be easy to ask around and just walk to the establishment. In any case, i strongly recommend you purchase a local (New Zealand) Sim card when you arrive at the airport. It is worth it as there is a special rate for international calls and SMS, not to mention, you can also call local lines easily and use the 3g or LTE network. You can even tether (be a wifi hotspot) if you have a spare mobile phone that has a hot spot feature.
