Great setup about 25 mins out of Methven. Great 3 bedroom self contained unit. Friendly hosts. Awesome stay!! If you like skiing this accommodation is close to Mt Hutt ski area and is also only an hours drive from Porters skifield as well. It is based in a rural setting so it is very peaceful.

What a wonderful retreat away from the city - thank you to 'Team Gunyah' for another great stay at your place. We especially loved being in The Granary this time, so fresh, peaceful and comfortable - ah and that fabulous breakfast! Just wish we could have stayed longer!

Very welcoming hostess made sure we had everything we needed to make my better half's birthday getaway special. We stayed overnight in the lovely renovated cottage and enjoyed a generous, tasty and leisurely champagne breakfast the next morning before driving back to Christchurch. Happy to recommend to anyone.

Wow wow wow. What a beautiful step back in time. The homestead is amazing, and the hospitality even better. What's greater than curling up with a book beside the fire and a tray of tea and silverware brought to your side? Comfy beds and delicious breakfast, and beautiful sprawling grounds

We stayed there in February 2016 (two rooms). While the house itself is really lovely and charming, the house can't keep up with modern requirements. The rooms have neither got any coffee or tea making facility nor a minibar or fridge, which is something one has gotten used to these days. The plastic showers feel like indoor camping, but not...

Dear Jahn we are sorry to see that you did not like your stay at Gunyah. Gunyah is a listed, historic building and it is set up to be period-appropriate for various reasons and requirements. It is not a purpose built hotel, as such and it does not purport to be pretentious nor modern. Rooms do not have mini bars...

My partner and I had a lovely couple of days in this amazing old country house either side of New Years Eve. The house itself is a wonderful late 19th century place, we had a nice room with a balcony. The furniture both in the rooms and in the common areas is stunning. Very warm hospitality. Food is good, and...

A house that gives a homey feeling, which is beautifully decorated with lovely antique style furniture. I loved the fire place, very relaxing, but the whole time I felt a bit uncomfortable being at someone else's house. It definitely didn't have a hotel feeling. I loved the electric blankets on the bed, but our room was very cold when we...

We stayed for two nights here in July 2014. This place is packed with lots of beautiful furnitures mostly antique-looking. The staff were very polite and friendly. The place gives you a homely feeling but somehow you feel like being a guest in one of your relative's house rather than being in a hotel which could be good or bad...

Recently stayed overnight at Gunyah (built in 1913 I believe) having dinner, bed and breakfast. It really felt like an Edwardian country house weekend, remote, yet only about 45 minutes or so drive from Christchurch. Simonetta and her two teenage children were perfect hosts. We had a lovely afternoon tea in the drawing room when we arrived and a fire...

We were driving through from Greymouth to Tekapu and were looking for a place in between. This fit the bill. Our warm greeting by Hostess Simonetta was a delight. We stayed in the Garden Room which was a large comfortable King bed and large bathroom. The decor of the Estate had a wonderful feel to this 1890's built home. I...
