Called in for a quick coffee, not expecting much in such a remote location, but equal to anything in Wellington! (and better than the Arthurs Pass cafes). And a tasty gourmet pie as well. Lovely views over the Waimakariri River and mountains. Definitely worth a stop.

this is a world class view for lunch, looking at vast braided river beds and and powerful mountains and to top it off the beer and food were both of a good quality at a reasonable price, if you are going to the coast drop in

We booked two rooms in the Moa Lodge. We were travelling with my parents who are on their 60s and we wondered if we might have preferred a room in the main hotel. As it was the Lodge was fantastic. Arrived later than planned at 7:30pm and the restaurant closed at 8pm. This was no problem, we were made to...

Stayed for one night. Proprietors were very helpful. We had a mixup of dates which was our fault, but they sorted it out quickly and we got the rooms we were after. Rooms have a great view over the river and sunrise. Rooms could have used a refresh - particularly the (pink) bathrooms. Could also have used some hanging space...

Friendly accommodating hosts!, delicious meals!, a hotel rich in history with interesting information displayed in the lobby from the 1920s, and some of the most amazing views you will see. Pack your insect repellant sandflys are fierce. It was so easy to overlook the tired and basic decor, as everything else was friendly, charming and relaxing. We stayed in unit...

This place is rather dated. The food in the restaurant is poor, with no other choices nearby. Lots of sandflys. Our room was just OK. I would suggest just driving through Arthur's Pass, and just doing the hike up to the waterfall. It is a nice hike up to a good viewing platform.

It has been a couple of years since my husband and our 3 teenage sons did the big adventure trip of NZ! After it was all said and done the Bealy Hotel and Arthurs Pass was the highlight beyond doubt for many reasons. Yes the hotel wasn't the most modern but the service, hospitality, atmosphere and views were amazing. Do...

Basically ski lodge in off season, but our private room had a view to die for. Room itself is overdue for a refurb, but bed was comfortable. Very small and limited facilities in the room, so while I was happy for 1 night I wouldn't like to have been staying for a week. However the main hotel, and restaurant was excellent....

Basic motel with accommodation some way from restaurant. OK for a night and the food was fine - good choices. Lots of mozzies. Also lots of cyclists who were there for a good time but were no problem.

Just love staying here. Yes the rooms are a little over due a do up but the convenience of the closeness to CH and having a restaurant and bar on sight is just brilliant. We love the hosts and the amazing view. Thank you to you both for another great stay. See you again soon. Ruth & Wayne from Waiatoto...
