We had a wonderful stay at this excellent lodge in Arthur's Pass. The dinner was outstanding and the hosts were very friendly. The room was very good and the lodge is located in a wonderful area outside Arthur's pass. Anna and Thomas, Sweden

We enjoyed the Wilderness Lodge very much! We stayed 2 nights here as part of our honeymoon. We loved the setting, and especially the warm hospitality from everyone on staff. On our first day, we participated in a sheep round-up and learned a lot about the wool trade. We took an extended 12-mile hike the next day; our picnic lunch...

The lodge forms part of a very large farm as described in their website. Owner Michael and his sister took very good care of us. The most wonderful part of the experience is to learn about Michael and his team's effort in protecting the environment that makes NZ such a wonderful place. Our excursion guides Allan and Nicky are very...

We went here because our travel agent worked with Swain Destinations and they said it was a must. They were most certainly right! The trip there was on the TranzAlpine and I'm sure it would be beautiful in nice weather but it was a waste. Maybe the lesson is to not book in advance and see what the weather is....

From the moment we arrived, we loved the lodge which was designed to take full advantage of the spectacular views while being rustic and extremely elegant. Michael and his sister Clare run the place with loving attention to every detail. The food is exquisite and fresh and the atmosphere is wonderful in the restaurant. The mission of the lodge to...

We spent about two days in this wonderful lodge. Michael, Claire, and their staff were wonderful. The lodge is located on a private expanse of land that had beautiful hiking paths and a welcoming sheep farm. My husband and I did the kayaking and Arthur's Pass excursions. We learned quite a bit about the New Zealand land and people. Michael...

Arrived after umpteen hours travel from the US to an unpretentious, all-encompassing friendly welcome. A short walk then a tour of the farm, delicious dinner then comfortable warm bed. The rest of the stay: informative, helpful, tasty and gorgeous, even with rain and snow flurries. I learned a little about the ecology of New Zealand to begin to appreciate its...

We only stayed one night en route to Franz Josef but it was wonderful. Admittedly we had two fresh, sunny days with great visibility but the views across the mountains are incomparable. How many superlatives are there in the English language? All of them apply here. The views are stunning, even for people who have seen lots of New Zealand mountain scenes.
