The Wilderness Lodge is a beautiful oasis. The views of the mountains are amazing. Our room, on the second floor, was comfortable and peaceful. The management are friendly and welcoming. The meals were fantastic, with breakfast and lunch included in the lodging cost. Wine and other drinks with meals are an extra charge. The wait staff are personable and helpful....

Our group of 2 couples stayed 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The entire staff from Greg down to the waitstaff in the restaurant was friendly, cheerful, and very accommodating. The food in the restaurant was delicious. We especially liked the sheep "round up" demonstration and explanation about the processing of the wool. I would highly recommend the lodge...

There are twenty mountain view rooms and four alpine view lodges in a separate block. We had one of the upstairs units. We had a large bedroom with a huge bed on a slightly elevated platform. In front of this and facing the window was a large sofa. There was also an armchair, writing desk and walk in dressing/luggage area with a small sink...

We stayed in a standard room for 3 days. We enjoyed it very much. The room was small, like a standard motel room and the view was outstanding. The bathroom was teeny. The bed was comfy, the pillows, like everywhere, very hard! The service, the free guided nature walks, the common areas and the surroundings were really first class. The...

Our stay at Wilderness Lodge was a wonderful experience. Greg and Nicola (sp?) are perfect, gracious, lovely hosts, and the food was great! But, the first thing you should know is that this lodge is in the wilderness. It is a beautiful drive from Christchurch with the last half of the drive through the mountains on a very twisty, windy...

This was our favourite place in South Island. Great for walkers of all abilities from those who want a shorter walk or a full day hike from the door. Good choice of self guided walks or walks with their guide for a fee. There are 2 included walks in the package, one of which is the sheep farm visit which...

Wonderful people, both guests and staff! I treasure the memory of star gazing in the meadow. Farm presentation with lots of interesting merino industry stuff, of course wth a sheep being sheared. Great hiking trails on the huge property and also in the national park. Delicious food.

Remote location - no phone signal. Excellent walking area. Comfortable, modern spacious accommodation. Friendly helpful staff. The diningroom is on 2 levels and we found it very noisy and difficult to hear...
