Wickham manor is a very old manor house with lots of history in the gorgeous town of Winchelsea . It is a surrounded by stunning scenery which has been a set for two films. There is an added bonus they have a vineyard and do wine tastings which we took great pleasure in doing one Sunday afternoon taking a few bottles home Chantal was very knowledgeable and explained each vine as we tasted them. . The hosts Sally and Charles are so charming plus we loved their dogs and pet sheep. Will definitely come again. Thank you.
Absolutely enchanting. A lovely peaceful setting and delightful accommodation. Spacious and comfortable, what a joy to stay in such a beautiful and historic property. Excellent facilities. A warm welcome from Sally which helped make the break all the more enjoyable. Wickham Manor is utterly captivating. Walking distance to Winchelsea. Right on the 1066 footpath, with another path leading to Winchelsea beach. Short drive to Rye, Hastings, Fairlight and the Firehills.
Thoroughly enjoyed our escape from COVID mundanity to this magnificent Elizabethan manor. Inevitably COVID guidelines meant changes to usual arrangements but Sally was very upfront about this before we booked. Our suite of historic rooms and cosy log fire was like nothing we have stayed in before. We also enjoyed a tasting of Charles Palmer wines from the very knowledgeable Chantal. We will definitely visit again
I came here with my boyfriend to replace our trip to Italy and it was everything I wanted and needed! The location is absolutely incredible and the owner was so accommodating, helping us with walking/cycling routes and filling our fridge with breakfast goodies. Would definitely come here again for a peaceful, active country getaway! I recommend renting a bike from Rye ☺️
I felt I had to write this review in contrast to one of the previous reviewers criticisms . As a regular visitor .We have Just had a marvellous Stay in our favourite Bed and breakfast in the south , I’m writing to support the wonderful hostess Sally , still doing amazing things in these difficult times, I Noted a couple of unusually grumpy reviews , I was made aware before I booked ,that due to covid ,Sally has had to separate the house for safety reasons, and ,now sadly, is only able to supply a basic breakfast in your own individual dining area ,instead the normal slap up full English ,due to having to initiate a one way one system in this iconic medieval Manor House. I felt I had to say something as Sally made me aware on arrival , how upset she was by her previous guest ,having looked at his review (dock brief) One point about his stay, what he left out was, he had informed Sally ,that, as he had already contracted covid ,(so basically ,he was so selfish and disinterested in other guests he wanted his breakfast whatever the cost to other guests ) he couldn’t understand what’s the problem was over breakfast ,even though he was pre warned on booking the situation , with regard to his beef On pricing for the room , we are all getting more available private space , in my case and mr grumpy’s case , both guests ,as opposed to three available rooms pre covid , we now have an extra lounge ,dining area and two double rooms extra, within the price , a bargain !
