I had booked the hotel as part of a road trip to Scotland for three couples. The whole experience was marvellous from start to finish. Everything about our stay was perfect. The rooms are finished to an exceptional standard, the family owners and their staff are friendly, hospitable and knowledgeable. They couldn't do enough for us. The food was superb, (we had dinner both evenings and breakfast both mornings of our stay) and everything was cooked to perfection. All the produce appears to be sourced locally. The whisky bar has to be seen to be believed with around 650 whiskies available! For a high end experience, this is one not to be missed.

We booked this hotel as a treat. It cost more than we would have liked to pay on a night away but I really do believe the saying "you get what it's worth". Our deluxe double bedroom was so comfortable. Smaller than what I had imagined but never the less it was beautifully decorated with a really comfy bed and ooooh those pillows were fabulous. The room was so clean and our view of the trees were beautiful. I bet autumn time the colours are amazing. Tea and coffee station in our room was great. None of your standard stuff you usually get. Not one pot of uht milk to be seen, yeah, fresh milk. The room temperature was just right. I had thought we would hear the road but we never even noticed. I slept like a baby. I would like to suggest the glass bottle of water you get would be a nice touch next to the shortbread. I have Ceoliac Disease and require strict gluten free diet. I spoke to one of the owners, Steph, who really put me at ease and explained their procedures around dietary requirements. We had dinner and it was lovely fresh produce. The menu was not what we are used to but as this is a high end establishment we went with it and enjoyed. What I do like about the menu is there aren't loads of choices which I feel benefits the kitchen as they can concentrate I'm giving the customers the best produced that is cooked to order. I certainly don't think you would see the "brakes" delivering here! All local produce. The cocktail lounge was very nice. The wee seating area in the corner is lovely. I had a couple of cocktails which I thought was very reasonably priced compared to some places I've been. Whow, just whow. The whisky snug was amazing. What a fabulous idea the owners have had here. Just wish I was rich enough to try them. Blown away at how much whisky can cost. Please note there are cheaper whiskies available at the cocktail lounge, so whisky lovers don't need to miss out completed. Breakfast was beyond amazing. Freshly cooked to order. I had fresh fruit and yogurt. Fruit was fresh alright as it had been cut to order. Not like pther establishments where they leave it out drowned in orange juice to prevent it from turning. Loved the breakfast. Proper fresh orange 🍊, I even ordered a glass for hubbie who doesn't like it so I got his. The grounds of the hotel, ooooft, beautiful. Best bit for me was the pond. Steph, keep up the good work. You, your family and staff have a wonderful place and if it was within our price range I would be visiting every month. I 100% recommend this hotel to everyone. And, if it is a bit pricy for you I do recommend you safe to afford at least one night as be sure you will return home feeling rested and relaxed. Lovely treat. Lorraine & Kevin

Just came back from a night away at Dowans Hotel and it was one of the best dinner-bed-and-breakfast experiences we've ever had. The staff were exceptional, the room was fabulous and the food (tasting menu) was utterly brilliant, some of the best we've ever had. And, the whisky snug is something to behold - 600+ bottles! Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Thank you for a lovely stay!

A beautiful entrance drew you into a very warm welcome with a range of Covid safety measures that immediately enabled one to relax. We had a beautifully decorated and impressively equipped Junior Suite which was quiet and very comfortable. The sloping gardens were well attended and the views from the terrace across the Spey Valley were great. Staff were unfailingly helpful and friendly. Menus offered a wide choice and the food was well prepared from good quality ingredients and presented attractively. The whisky snug and range were spectacular but check the prices before ordering. The Murray family and team work hard to ensure a pleasurable stay and we look forward to going back.

Came here as part of a trip for my partners birthday. Highly recommend this hotel. The service is fantastic all the staff are friendly and professional. We ate one night in their restaurant, 57, the food was delicious!! I had the venison to start and trout for main, and my partner had the langoustines to start and the chicken for main. It was all fresh and locally sourced, cooked really well and great value for money. Can’t recommend this hotel enough!
