We stayed in the Speyside room of the Dowans Hotel. The hotel is family run, and the family members work there and are friendly and helpful. We stayed in the hotel for three nights, and ended up eating dinner there every night as well. The food was fantastic and the dining room is quaint and charming. The room was clean,...

I can't say enough about what a wonderful stay I had here. It starts with the Murray family that owns/operates this magical place. A family affair and they are just terrific--with a full measure of warmth, humor and kindness. The location is central to a stay in the Highlands whether you're there for sports fishing, whisky tasting or just to...

Expecting to arrive late (after 8:00 p.m.), we called the hotel to make sure the room would not be releasing the rooms. We were not only reassured that they were awaiting our arrival, but made sure that the restaurant would be open so we could all eat. This is no insignificant favor since the town is quite small, and they...

I arrived late, almost 10pm at the hotel but the owners were nice enough to check me in despite their normal checking in hours is only up to 9pm. My first impression of the hotel was cosy, clean and a place to hang around. I got a room right at the top of the nice building where I have a...

Really fantastic hotel, we received a warm welcome to our stay, in what is a fantastic old building for a hotel. The meal we had there was also delicious. Rooms were really comfortable, and the shower was powerful and refreshing. One of the best hotels I've stayed in, top quality, and is ideal for a wee break in the highlands.

Ate here with friend. We both had fillet steaks which were cooked to perfection - the young waiter was helpful and polite. Would definitely eat here again when in Speyside, it was like a little private castle and had a spectacular view onto the Spey Valley.

We had a night staying here while walking the Speyside Way. I actually found it faultless. A very nice friendly check in and a spotless and comfortable room (Glenfarclas). They could not have been more helpful from getting taxis for us, drinks mid afternoon, washing done, late tables for dinner and more very nice whisky. Breakfast was excellent and a...

My partner and I stayed here for four nights while at the Speyside Whisky Festival. We could not say more amazing things about the Dowans team, and feel so fortunate to have gotten to spend time with such warm, charming and engaging people. Steph and Lauren do an amazing job running the place, and their colleagues are all fantastic. The...

Richly and tastefully decorated rooms and all the amenities you could hope for. The large free-standing bath is a welcome sight after a long day. All the fixtures appeared to be brand new. Beautiful and comfortable bed with quality linens. Do make a point to eat here as well. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast and was impressed with the...

A friend and I stayed here this week for a 60th celebration of golf and whisky - The Downans was ideal. The staff were extremely helpful and very enthusiastic, and with the young age of the front of house staff this was exemplary! The two sisters were always rushing around helping out and asking if evrything was all ok -...
