The staff was amazing and extremely helpful. Fantastic location with the bus and train station across the street and a fabulous view of the Basilica of Mary of the Angels, especially at night, which is just a short walk from the hotel. The bus into Assisi is very quick and easy to use.
This laid back restaurant /gastro pub is sited under ancient brickwork, the service is surprisingly good and the wait staff are very happy to offer menu translation to English at least. The food was great, the beers on tap superb (Umbrian craft type beer) and the atmosphere is almost impossible to beat. Should be a must visit in old town Perugia.
We stayed here for one night during our recent trip to Italy. We chose this hotel for its convenient location across the street from the train station, as we had a 7:00 a.m. train to Rome the next day. The rooms were very cheap (just 45 euro), so we splurged and each got our own room. I was given a room without a view that over looked a shower sized pit with a skylight. The windows in the room could not be opened, so the room was a bit hot. I asked the owner if there was another room available, and he accommodated me with a fantastic room with a full sized balcony overlooking the train station that was a much more comfortable temperature and allowed me to open the door to the balcony to get some air in the room. The rooms were large, but a bit dated. The bathroom was also a bit dated, but the rooms were well maintained and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Though breakfast didn't start until after we left, when we went downstairs to check out, the owner offered us breakfast in the breakfast room. The breakfast consisted of a croissant, rolls, jams, and biscuits. He also offered us coffee, orange juice, and water. It was a simple breakfast, but enough to start the day. The hotel is a short bus ride to the St. Francis Basilica and most of the other sites in Assisi. The bus stop is right at the train station, and costs just 1,30 euro. It ran every half hour, and it was a nice ride. The cathedral that houses St. Francis' original chapel is right around the corner from the hotel, and there is a McDonald's down the street, and many restaurants and pizzerias around the corner. I would definitely stay here again if I had plans to catch an early train, though if I was going to be in Assisi for longer than a night, I would rather be right in the heart of the town.…
The location of this hotel is perfect, directly opposite the stazione. And, Carlos the proprietor, Walter his son and Christian do a great job to ensure that your stay is the best. They also have a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is a 10 minute walk to St. Mary of the Angels Basilica and the bus that goes to the Basilica of San Francesco is directly across the street. Incidentally if you are interested in getting a private driver for a visit to the Hermitage, Santa Clara and San Damiano ask Carlos to arrange it. His friend who does this is way cheaper than the taxi's at the train station.
We didn't stayed here but came for dinner. There were only one other couple dining here when we walked in (and till the end of our meal) so we were a bit sceptical at first. We ordered the Grilled Sausage and Grilled Pork Chop and both dishes came as it is and nothing else, not even a bit of garnishing! But the food were very tasty and grilled to perfection! As a side we requested for something not on the menu, just boiled spinach which was very fresh and sweet. The Bruschetta was very good too. It was probably one of the most simple serving that we have experienced in a restaurant! The gentleman manning the hotel reception was also the only person taking order and serving food at the restaurant, perhaps it was the low season, very friendly and chatty.
