Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were in a superior room that had plenty of space and a lovely comfy bed. The bathroom was a good size with brilliant features such as a little step up to help you get into the bath and within the step there were lights that were activated by movement sensors (great for...

We have just spent the night at the Barnsdale Lodge and it was lovely. The hotel is truly dog friendly, complete with a welcome pack and bed for our dog in the room. The hotel itself is very friendly and welcoming and the staff are all polite, knowledgeable and helpful. We also had dinner in the restaurant and the food...

We stayed for two nights from Saturday to Monday, on a very cold February weekend. The hotel is an old building beautifully maintained and restored and so a certain amount of chill in parts is to be expected. However,we were initially not impressed with our room, which was decidedly cold and not welcoming at all. It took some time to...

We only stayed for one night (our first visit) but were impressed. A friendly welcome, an excellent (premium) room and a lovely evening meal. Plenty of easy parking, a nice ambience and we are planning a return already. Our room was upstairs (a little care needed by anyone with mobility problems) overlooking open fields and with distant views of Rutland...

I was with a group of six for a family birthday celebration and we stayed on the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast deal. The hotel is in beautiful surroundings and has a pleasant atmosphere. The receptionist was polite and friendly and the room we stayed in was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The restaurant is very nice and the food excellent, but...

Dear DI Thank you for taking the time to talk to me directly over the phone. I was delighted to learn that despite the short delay you experienced you would certainly recommend us to friends and family. It was our pleasure to cut the birthday cake up for you on the night and I'm very pleased the family enjoyed the...

I booked a superior double room for £129, when we arrived I was told that they only had a twin room with separate beds, I asked if the beds where pushed together and they said they weren't. I said I didn't really want to sleep in a single bed. They said that unfortunately they had a wedding party in and...

Dear Kate Thank you for talking through your frustrations, in particular with the 3rd party supplier that you booked through, and for acknowledging they could have made more clear that your "request" was not guaranteed. We're very disappointed that in this instance this has reflected poorly on us. On your other comment when my receptionist later checked the room she...

We and our friends and family stayed here during our wedding weekend. The hotel itself s stunning with such a beautiful courtyard and conservatory area. Breakfast was amazing and all of the staff were so incredibly helpful. All the little things in the bedrooms are thought about too. Highly recommend the hotel and taking advantage of the opportunity to have...

We had business meeting at Barnsdale. We were probably unfortunate to have cold weather in the outside function room. Coffee and tea arrangement could have been better but maybe we ordered to little. The rooms are ok but the best is their food. Despite being with a big group we had a nice meal.

Great meal, service slightly slow but very busy, staff needed reminding of orders, but otherwise a great night out, thought the wine was reasonable priced as was the food. Will visit again, nice atmosphere.
