Welcoming place, the hosts are really nice and happy to see you & chat. The place is quiet for a family and it's at s short walking distance from restaurant and grocery. Internet is a little bit flaky once in a while.
I booked a stay here after reading the rave reviews on trip advisor. What everyone neglected to mention was that this place has NO AIR CON. In the heat of summer (highs in the mid-30s) this meant a night of hell!! There was a small fan in the room, but it was no match for the heat. On the good side, the place was well priced, impeccably clean and breakfast was great. Room was huge. Other cons - the bed was absolutely terrible. Must have been 30 years old. As mentioned by others, there is no under sheet and the protective covering was so scratchy we had to put clothes on top of it, as the duvet was not long enough - there was no need for the duvet other than to sleep on top of it as it was so hot!
I have stayed here a couple of times. The owner is so friendly and helpful if is a pleasure to be there. Exellent breakfast with plenty to eat. Lovely garden to sit in the sunshine. Close to the town with the most wonderful special Tokay wine, something not to be missed.
We arrived in Tokaj by train and found no taxis or bus at the station. Torkolat Panzió is a bit of a hike from the train station, so if you’ve got luggage, arrange to have a ride waiting for you. (We were fortunate enough to be offered a ride with a local resident who was picking up another traveller.) Our two-bedroom unit was clean, roomy and reasonably comfortable. There is a nice garden and you can use the kayaks and bicycles. The breakfast was served in a big room in the main house and it was excellent and very generous. The centre of the village is just a couple of minutes walk with grocery stores, wine shops, and a very helpful tourist information office. There are some wine cellars near the train station. You can arrange a taxi to take you to and from wine cellars.
Staff is nice and tries to help. There are tables in the garden and barbecue facilities. Room was big and comfortable. Wireless internet is available in the room. There is a fridge (to be shared by several rooms). Parking space is very limited and has a lot of actions happening around - it is better to park on the street. There are no under-sheets, just the mattress protection - not very comfortable to sleep. Location is excellent and very convenient for both exploring Tokaj on foot and travelling around with car.
Torkolat Panzio is a charming guest house with a lot of character and a fabulous host. The inn is easy to find as it is located in the fork of the road leading to Tokaj. Having said that, we didn't hear any traffic or noise at night. The owner speaks German and can get by in Russian and seems to find a way to manage whatever language you speak. Our room was spacious with a surprisingly large bathroom. Breakfast was very good quality with a fine selection. There are bikes you can use for free to explore the town. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend TP wholeheartedly.
We choose this place to stay because of its location and good reviews here. We wanted to stay in the area to discover the Tokaj region. The host/owner is increadably charming and helpful. He made us feel like we were old friends of his. It did not feel like we were staying in a b&b. He was more then happy to give us tips and guidence on what to do and what to see. All the highlights in the area! The rooms are huge and clean. One of the only places with a great website, what you see there is what you get. We got breakfast for one of the days we were there, good coffee and selection of meat and cheeses. Beautiful garden and views! The only let down is the restaurants near by. Make sure you head out for dinner very early, it seams like most kitchens close around 8-ish even in July. We got turned down in a few places. But of course this has nothing to do with the b&b. overall, great getaway in a peacefull setting and warm hospitality. …
We drove from Heivz to this small town where it claimed to have the best sweet wine in Hungary. We stayed in a 2 bedroom with attic at Torkolat Pension. The owner though does not speak English tried his best to understand what we wanted through whatever signs and body language we could do..It was humourous and the people was very hospitable. We found a wine muesum dated some 18th century ago. There were two wineries each claimed to serve better wine than the other. We bought both. They were good.
What a fantastic little guest house in Tokaj. Just stayed here over the Easter break 2013 for one night. Luckily my friend spoke German so we could get on well with the charming host who shared lots of little bits of information about the local area with us. The pension itself is well located (we were visiting for the wine) though we drove past it several times (didn't notice it on the corner, keep your eyes sharp!). The rooms are spacious, clean and homely. Breakfast is worth the 6 Euros and sets you up for the day. Thanks!
My boyfriend and I visited this lovely guesthouse during our trip to Hungary in August 2012. It was perfect - simple but efficient. Unfortunately we walked VERY far from the train station to the guesthouse with our backpacks, but we should have known better! The guesthouse had two tandem bikes available to use for free and it was one of the highlights of our trip - we had a ball driving up and down the streets, doing wine tastings and going across the bridge to the river beach. The wifi was also easily accessible and very useful. All in all - a great stay!
